Geneva Grace (Salter) Clark, daughter of the late Manuel and Maude Marie Salter, was born October 7, 1916 in Highgate, Missouri of Maries County where she grew up and attended school.

At the age of 16, Geneva was united in marriage to Woodrow Robertson and they were blessed with one son, Jesse.

On April 3, 1951, Geneva was united in marriage to Joe Clark. They shared many years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. They made their home in Richland for nearly 20 years and then moved to Marionville, Missouri where they spent the next 30 years. Joe preceded her in death on October 26, 1979. After Joe’s passing, Geneva moved to Springfield, Missouri to be closer to her son.

Geneva worked as a maid as a young woman and later during World War II worked in a small arms factory in St. Louis. Most of her working years, she was privileged to stay home and help maintain her home and take care of her son.

Geneva was a wonderful cook. She was known for her chicken and dumplings and everyone, especially Jesse, was fond of her lemon pies. She enjoyed being outdoors while working in her garden and she was proud of her prize tomatoes. Whenever she was able, she liked to travel to different places.

As a young girl, Geneva accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was raised in the Church of God, but while living in Richland she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church.

Geneva went home to be with her Lord at 12:20 A.M. Thursday, August 13, 2009 in the James River Care Center of Springfield, Missouri at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 6 days.

Geneva will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by one son: Jesse M. Robertson (Mary) of Springfield, MO; three step-daughters: Nathalee Froeschle of Marionville, MO, Betty Jo O’Quinn and Mary Bob Gilbert, both of Mount Vernon, MO; one step-son: Dorris Clark of Ft. Collins, CO; one sister: Lillian Garton of Rockford, IL; one step-daughter-in-law: Louise Clark of Memphis, IN; 3 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; several other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband Joe, Geneva was preceded in death by one daughter, Maude Marie; an infant son; four sisters; one brother; and one step-son, Durand Clark.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 15, 2009 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Richland with Rev. Christopher Hendrix, Sr. officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Until Then”, “One Day at a Time” and “There’s Just Something About That Name”. Serving as escorts were Chris Lock, Mike Lock, Joe Lock, Mike Haldiman, Drew Haldiman and Daryl Froeschle. Burial followed in the Manes Cemetery of Richland.
