EWELL HEWITT, 1912-1990

Ewell Hewitt, 77, of rural Dixon, died Wednesday, September 19, 1990 at his home. The son of Andy Hewitt and Lula (Norwood) Hewitt, he was born November 23, 1912, in Caldwell TX.
He married Mattie Lee Bass in 1938.
As a young man he served in the United States Army. In the early 1960's he owned and operated Hewitt's Sinclair Station in St. Robert, and later worked with Mid-Missouri Motors from 1968 to 1980, after which he retired. He was known as "Baby Huey."
He is survived by one daughter, Evaline Whitley, and one son, Samuel Hewitt, both of Dallas TX; and one brother, Charles Hewitt of Dallas TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Lula Hewitt.
Graveside services with full military honors were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 1990, in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery, with Chaplain Vern Jordin officiating. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

ALMA ANN FENNEWALD, 1912-1990

Alma Ann Fennewald, 78, of Vienna, died Saturday, August 18, 1990 in St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City following a brief illness.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, in the Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery, Vienna.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 to 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Chapel in Vienna. A rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel.
Surviving are one son, James Volmert of Lake Ozark; two daughters, Caroline James of Manchester MO and Donna Harris of Poway CA; two brothers, Hugo Luebbert and John Luebbert, both of Jefferson City; and one sister, Sabrina Borgmeyer of Koeltztown MO.
Memorials may be made to the Visitation Church and School Memorial Fund.

LLOYD ALBERT LEWIS, 1932-1990

Lloyd Albert Lewis of Waynesville, son of Jessie Stephen Lewis and Edith Rose (Crossland) Lewis, was born May 7, 1932, in Waynesville MO. He departed this life at 5:15 p.m. Monday, September 10, 1990 at his home. He had attained the age of 58 years, 4 months and 3 days.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Joan Gan on April 19, 1958, in Waynesville. To this union one daughter, Toni, was born.
Lloyd lived in the Waynesville area throughout his life. He made his living doing construction work. His primary work was that of a carpenter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and attending trail rides.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Joan; his daughter, Toni Barbosa, of Waynesville; five brothers, Jessie Lewis, Henry Lewis and Franklin Lewis, all of Waynesville, and Jim Lewis and Larry Lewis, both of Lebanon; three sisters, Dorothy Wendling of Phoenix AZ, Clara Sewell of Springfield, and Opal Matthews of Waco TX; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Edith Lewis; one brother, David Lewis; and one nephew, Davie Lewis.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 13, at Mt. Gibson Baptist Church, Waynesville, with Rev. Robert Kimmis and Rev. Norman Sanders officiating. Music was provided by pianist Pauline Laughlin and vocalists Jackie Guffey, Jean Laughlin, and Judy Laughlin. Serving as escorts were Elmer Davis, Roy Dye, Jerry Laughlin, Jim Laughlin, Joe Laughlin and James Thompson.
Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
A memorial to the American Cancer Society has been established in memory of Lloyd Albert Lewis.

Leander R. Gildewell (1895-1990)

Leander R. Gildewell, 94, of Waynesville, died Sunday, July 29, 1990 at Sunset Village of the Ozarks. The son of Nelson and Sarah Abigail (Garret) Gildewell, he was born October 15, 1895, at Milan MO.
Mr. Gildewell, or "Lee" as he was best known, lived around the Milan-St. Joseph area, where he also attended school.
In 1939 he married Flossie Gildewell. She preceded him in death in 1968.
Mr. Gildewell was a veteran of WWI. He was a deputy sheriff in northern Missouri many years ago, but he spent most of his working life as a boiler engineer. One of the highlights of his life was getting to play professional baseball with a minor league team in Milan.
Survivors include three sons, Russell of Seattle WA, Ron of Dayton OH, and Tom of Rolla; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 3, at the Ashland Cemetery in St. Joseph, with Rev. Gene Albright officiating. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

STELLA MARIE BATES, 1899-1990

Funeral services for Stella Marie Bates, 91, of Waynesville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at 1 p.m. that afternoon in the Oak Hill Cemetery north of Houston.
Mrs. Bates, a homemaker, died Friday in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, in the funeral home.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Willa Dean Bates of Waynesville; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

RAYMOND CLARENCE MYERS, 1907-1990

Raymond Clarence Myers, son of Floyd and Myrtle (Lewis) Myers, was born February 2, 1907, in Kirksville MO, and departed this life September 4, 1990, in Springfield at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 2 days.
He was married on July 29, 1980, to Dorothy Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son Roderick Myers of Las Vegas NV; brothers L. G. Myers of Richland and Dr. B. J. Myers of Licking; sisters Ilene McCoy, Norma Eppison, Ruby Hamilton, Velma McQueary, and Dorothy Miles of Kirksville, Bernice Quinn of Licking, and Marjorie Voie of Iola WI; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Dr. Richard Myers, Vernie Myers, and one in infancy.
Services were held September 6 at 10 a.m. at the Colonial Funeral Chapel.

KATHERINE E. HATFIELD, 1909-1990

Katherine E. Hatfield, 81, of Sunset Village of the Ozarks, Waynesville, died September 19, 1990, at Sunset Village. The daughter of William J. D. Nieter and Kathryn Louisa (Wagner) Nieter, she was born August 27, 1909, in New Bremen, OH.
On April 17, 1931, in Yokohama, Japan, she married Charles David Hatfield. He preceded her in death April 19, 1989. The couple lived in Michigan for more than 22 years before moving to Sunset Village in Waynesville.
Survivors include one niece, Judith Bray of Wapakoneta OH; two nephews, John Nieter of Wapakoneta OH and James Nieter of Lima OH; her sister-in-law, Edna Nieter of Wapakoneta OH; and a cousin, Mary Lou Pope, of Big Sur CA.
Memorial Services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 30, in the Sunset Village of the Ozarks with Rev. Wilbur Harbaugh officiating. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Michael Wayne Fowler 1958-1990

Michael Wayne Fowler, 32, died Tuesday, September 18, 1990 in Panama City FL. He was born in Piggott AR on May 11, 1958, the son of Theodore and Joyce (Kitchen) Fowler.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Lloyd Crane of Dixon; four sisters, Linda Null, Brenda Drake, and Glenda Fowler, all of Dixon, and Mary Fowler of Cuba; one brother, Mark Fowler, of Steelville; three nephews, Ron, Jeff and Jim; and his paternal grandmother Annabelle Fowler of Fagus MO.
Private services were held at Brown's Landing with Rev. Fred Hauck officiating, on Monday, September 24, 1990 at 10 a.m.
Arrangements were under the direction of Long Funeral Home of Dixon.

WILLIAM R. "BILL" POWELL, 1930-1990

Funeral/VFW services for Bill Powell, 60, of Richland, will be held at 11 a..m Saturday in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in the Francis J. Lynch VFW section of the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Powell, a retired U. S. Army First Sergeant, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital on Fort Leonard Wood.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Willa Powell, of the home; two sons, John and Ronald Powell, both of Fayetteville NC; two daughters, Brenda Arvidson of South Carolina and Donna Fay Turner of Fayetteville NC; one stepson, Donald Gander of Texas; one stepdaughter, Katherine Brown of Richland; four brothers; three sisters; 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established to the United Pentecostal Church of Waynesville Building Fund in memory of Bill Powell.

MARGARET P. JOHNSON, 1926-1990

Funeral services for Margaret P. Johnson, 64, of Waynesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 6, in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson, a Waynesville school bus driver, died at 11:26 a.m. Wednesday in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home; one son, William Henry Johnson of Jefferson City; two daughters, Mary Katherine Morgan of Jefferson City and Madonna Sue Butler of Bourbon; three brothers, Christopher Jann of Indianapolis IN, Bernard Jann of Wilingsborrow, NJ, and Leonard Jann of Springfield IL; and five grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association in memory of Margaret Johnson.

WILLIAM "BILL" ZAVADA, 1959-1990

William "Bill" Zavada, 31, of Dixon, died Sunday, August 26, 1990, in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia MO, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 1990, in the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Dixon. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday morning until 9:30 in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Chapel in Dixon. Rosary services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Zavada is survived by his wife, Pam Zavada, of Dixon; two sons, Shaun M. and John P. Zavada, both of the home; one daughter, Barbara A. Zavada, and one step-daughter, Heather Kelley, both of the home; parents Mr. and Mrs. John Zavada of Moreno Valley CA; one brother, John M. Zavada of Moreno Valley CA; one sister, Cathy L. Mahuron of Los Osos CA; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Carr of Victorville CA; and his paternal grandmother, Anna Zavada of Libertyville IL.

JAMES "TOBE" NOBLETT, 1901-1990

James "Tobe" Noblett, 89, of Belle, MO, died Tuesday, August 14, a990, at his residence near Belle. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 17, at the Birmingham Martin Funeral Chapel in Vienna. Burial will be in the Vienna Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today and Friday from 9 to 11 p.m. in the funeral chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Noblett of the home; three sons, Leonard Noblett of Jefferson City, James L. Noblett of St. Louis, and Gene Noblett of Belle; three daughters, Allene Dunham of St. Louis, Mary Louise Lammers of Holts Summit, and Judy Twehus of Holts Summit; one brother, Ralph Noblett of St. Louis; one sister, Evelyn Hohlt of St. Louis; 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

LENA MARIE ANDERSON, 1926-1990

Funeral Services for Lena Marie Anderson, 64, of Waynesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church, Waynesville. Burial will be in the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson, a homemaker, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 1990, in the Phelps County Medical Center, Rolla, after a short illness.
Survivors include: three sons, Tom Anderson, Zeke Anderson and Buck Anderson, all of Waynesville; four daughters, Linda Stockdale and Mary Hendrix, both of Waynesville, Clova Falenzcykowski of Appleton WI, and Janet Tower of Strafford, NH; one sister, Sadie Henderson of Crocker; one brother, Leo Brown of Waynesville, and 10 grandchildren.

CARROLL DEAN SHORT, 1943-1990

Carroll Dean Short, 46, of Waynesville, died Friday, Sept. 14, 1990, at Springfield, MO. The son of Glen Short, Sr., and Mary E. (Juenger) Short, he was born at Carmi, IL, on Nov. 26, 1943.
Mr. Short grew up and attended school in the Fairfield, IL area. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Fairfield, but since moving to Waynesville he attended the Waynesville United Methodist Church.
On Dec. 21, 1971, he married Barbara Isabelle (Sifford) Hoffman.
Mr. Short served more than 14 years in the U. S. Army, most of that time as a heavy equipment operator. He retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1980. He was a member of the Francis J. Lynch Memorial VFW Post 3168 and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 49. At the time of his death, Mr. Short was a Waynesville Police Department officer/dispatcher. He also did some part-time backhoe work in the area.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; his mother, Mary Short of Fairfield; two daughters, Kathryn Perry of La Habra, CA; and Janice Dennison of Troutdale, OR; two sons, James Hoffman of Marina CA and Richard Hoffman of Waynesville; three brothers, Charles Juenger of Florida, Steve Short of Norris City IL, and Glen Short Jr. of Centralia IL; three sisters, Scarlett Imhoff of Peoria IL, and Janice Sanders and Kaye Book, both of Fairfield IL; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Short Sr.
Francis H. Lynch Memorial VFW Post 3168 held services at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Commander Bill Hammock officiating.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jess Norris officiating. Escorts were Larry Brown, Robert "Buck" Brown, Harold Conner, Richard Hoffman, Leon Nelson, Bob White, and Roy Wrightson. Honorary escorts were Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop I, Pulaski County Sheriff Department, St. Robert Police Department, and Waynesville Police Department.
Burial was in the Francis J. Lynch Memorial VFW section of Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
A memorial to the American Heart Association was been established in memory of Carroll Dean Short.

JACOB HERBERT WILDER, 1898-1990

Jacob Herbert Wilder of Waynesville was born the son of Fred and Mary Etta (Clark) Wilder on November 18, 1898, in Salt Springs, Missouri, and passed away August 2, 1990 at the Waynesville Nursing Center, Waynesville, at the age of 91 years.
Jacob grew up and attended school in the Marshall area. He devoted his life to raising dogs for show and for breeding purposes. He was world renowned for the quality dogs he raised. On several occasions he shipped dogs to different locations throughout the world.
Jacob was a member of the United Kennel Club and the American Legion. He had several articles published in the Kennel Club Trade Journal.
His hobby was his life's work. He also enjoyed flowers and birds. Jake will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen Baker of Holts Summit and Virginia Smith of South Carolina; one son, J. C. Wilder of Kansas City; two step-daughters, Georgia Mistler of Marshall and Dorothy Merrell of Pomme de Terre; three step-sons, James Cramer of Blue Springs, Pete Cramer of Sweet Springs, and Harold Cramer of Marshall Junction. Several grand-, great-grand-, and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services with military honors were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 4, in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Marshall, with Rev. Robert Sweeden officiating. Services were under the direction of the Waynesville Funeral Chapel. A memorial has been established in the name of Jacob Wilder.

Ethelyn June Jewell (1903-1990)

Ethelyn June Jewell, of Laquey, daughter of Seth Gladden and Myrtle (Taylor) Gladden, was born August 27, 1903, in Waynesville, MO. She went to be with her Lord June 13, 1990, at Rolla MO, at the age of 86.
Ethelyn grew up in the Waynesville area. She attended the Deerlick school. After graduation, she attended Southwest Missouri Teachers' College and later received her degree from Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
Ethelyn was a charter member of the First Christian Church of Waynesville, and later moved her membership to the Buckhorn Christian Church.
In November of 1924, Ethelyn united in marriage with Cecil Hammock. On June 21, 1940, she was united in marriage with Clarence Jewell.
Ethelyn taught school in the area for over 46 years. She has touched many lives during a lifetime of service in our area. She will be sadly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Paul Long, of Waynesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kathy Jewell of Tulsa, OK; a sister Maxine Vandergriff of Columbia, MO; a brother, Ernest Gladden of Laquey; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several other relatives and friends.
Ethelyn is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Earl Gladden, and a sister, Sylvia Lundstrom.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Virgil White officiating. Music was provided by vocalist Gilbert Crismon and organist Dorothy Moore. Serving as escorts were Floyd Atterberry, George Berry, Danny Dye, Carl Gladden, Bill Hammock, Clifford Lundstrom, Dru Rayl, Lee Rayl, Roy Rayl, Jim Sizemore, Vern Smith, Emerson Storie and Mayfield Wilson.
Burial was in the Colley Hollow Cemetery, Waynesville, MO., under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel. A scholarship fund has been established in the name of Ethelyn June Jewell.

Oscar Monroe Davis 1893-1990

Oscar Monroe Davis, son of John William and Rebecca Hicks Davis, was born August 26, 1893, in Hannah, MO, and departed this life May 21, 1990, in Richland, MO, at the age of 96 years, 8 months and 25 days.
He was united in marriage with Lucinda Dell Pagett and to this union were born nine children.
In 1955, he was united in marriage with Cora Belle Richardson.
At an early age, Oscar professed his faith in Christ and at the time of his death was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He had been a member of the Richland Masonic Lodge #385 since 1933.
He is survived by his wife Cora Belle, of Bentonville AR; four sons, Roy Ray Davis, Rogers, AR, Howard Davis, Collinsville, OK, William Dale Davis, Los Angeles, CA, and Donald Davis, Morriston, FL; three daughters, Peggy Shefield, Concord, CA, Marie Lenz, Pittsburg, CA, and Lena Mae Chaney, Arlington, TX; one brother, Clarence Davis, Versailles, MO; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, T. H. Davis; one daughter, Sylvia Florence Davis; and one sister.

HENRY CLEMENT JETER 1907-1986


Henry Clement Jeter, son of Joseph and Ella Bruns Jeter, was born in Oklahoma on June 5, 1907 and departed this life March 16, 1986, in Lebanon, Missouri following a lengthy illness.
He was united in marriage with Vera Hawkins, on April 26, 1933, and to this union were born two children, both surviving.
"Clem" as he was known by his family and friends, was a member of the Hazelgreen United Methodist Church.
In 1973 he retired from Post Engineers at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was a member of
Richland Masonic Lodge No. 385 for a number of years.
Those surviving include his wife, Vera, of Richland; one son, Joseph William Jeter of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Carollee Brown of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Travis Jeter of Richland; three grandchildren, Clarice L. Brown, Derek W. and Corey A. Jeter; other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Leola Anderson.

ROSCOE PRESTON ANDERSON 1917-1993


Roscoe Preston Anderson, son of Orville Preston Anderson and LaVada Frances Hammock Anderson, was born May 18, 1917, in Pulaski County, Missouri and departed this life January 6. 1993 in Breech Medical Center, Lebanon, Mo.
In October of 1938 he was united in marriage with Velma Kelsey and to this union were born three children. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Hilda June, who died at the age of 7 months.
On May 18, 1962 he was united in marriage with Myrtle Gann Starnes, who survives.
As a young man he professed his faith in Christ and was baptized, uniting with the Independence Baptist Church at Hazelgreen.
Roscoe loved his family. His favorite pasttime was taking his beagles out rabbit hunting. Every Saturday morning he enjoyed going to the local sale barn to visit old friends.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle of the home, one son, Gary Anderson of St. James, Mo; a daughter, Veda Jennings of Richland; a step-daughter, Phyllis Long of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Vincent Lee Anderson, U.S. Navy, Norfolk, Va.;Roger Jennings of Crocker; Larry and Mark Jennings of Swedeborg; Danny Jennings, Richland; and a granddaughter, Kathy Metzer, Lawton OK; seven great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; one brother, Nelson Anderson of Lebanon; three sisters; Leta Quesenberry and Mary Belton both of Richland and Ruth Goodrich, Waynesville, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends who mourn his passing.
He was also.preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Leslie, Harry, Kermita and Glen; one sister, Opal; and one grandson, Ronnie Jennings.
Services were held Saturday, January 9,1993 at 10:30 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel,with Pryor Ray Prewett officiating. Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist and Delores Shadel, organist.
Escorts were Larry Jennings, Danny Jennings. Virgil Lane, Mark Jennings, Richard Long and Elvin Lane.
Final resting place for Mr. Anderson is Hazelgreen Cemetery.

DOROTHY DAISY GOODMAN, 1910-1990

Dorothy Daisy Goodman, 80, died Friday, June 29, 1990, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. She was born in Oswego, NY; on Feb. 4, 1910, the daughter of Paul Arnold and Anna Belle Stahl Brown.
She married Eugene Goodman on Jan 31, 1932. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1989. Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Seaton of Meta and Norma and her husband Donald Robertson of Dixon; her two sons, Warren and Robert of Hancock; three grandchildren, Deloris Farge and Dottie and Les Robertson; two great-grandchildren, Lucinda and Justin Farge; her sister, Roberta Funkhouser of Jeffersontown, KY; and her brother, Lewis Brown, of Massillon, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Paul and Edward Brown, and her son-in-law, Walter Seaton.
Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Home in Dixon on Monday, July 2, 1990, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Jack Stevens officiating. Burial was in the Seaton Cemetery. Serving as her pallbearers were Les Robertson, Ed Farge, Jared Hale, Bill Cross, Roland Goodman, and Johnny Wagner. Music was provided by Thom and Sherry Hathaway.

BERTHA CROSS, 1895-1990

Bertha Cross, 84, of Iberia, died on Tuesday, April 17, 1990, at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 1990, in the Brays Advent Christian Church. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home in Iberia.
Mrs. Cross was born on Oct. 15, 1895, at Iberia, the daughter of George and Mary Adams Mace. She married Otto Cross on March 25, 1917. He died Dec. 25, 1970.
Mrs. Cross was a member of the Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia, where she was a Sunday School teacher and pianist for more than 30 years. She also taught in rural schools in Miller County many years ago.
She is survived by one daughter, Lois Dean Miller of Waynesville; one brother, Frank Mace of Waynesville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

BETTY JANE VLASHE, 1906-1990

Betty Jane Vlashe, 84, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1990, in the St. Anthony Hospital of St. Louis. He was born in Tribune, MO, on Sept. 5, 1906, the daughter of Leroy and Leona York Thomas.
She married George Vlashe in 1965. He died in September, 1972.
Mrs. Vlashe is survived by her sister, Alma Howser of Dixon, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Earl, Charlie and infant Pryor Thomas; and her sister, Mae Smith.
She had been a member of the Christian Church in Dixon since she was 16 years old.
Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Home in Dixon on Thursday, Sept. 13, 1990, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Earl Jones officiating. Serving as her pallbearers were Cy Steward, Bill Robbins, Chee and Archie Whitaker, Jimmy Evans and Maurice Schierbaum.

BRIAN LANDON CLEMENTS, 1982-1990

Brian Landon Clements of Plato, Missouri, son of David and Alta Clements, was born March 28, 1972, in Waynesville, MO; and passed away Wednesday, May 30, 1990 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO; as the result of an automobile accident. Brian was 18 years old.
Brian had just completed his Junior year at Plato High School. He was active in Industrial Arts, Science, and FBLA. He also helped with the family business.
Brian was a member of the Christian Church of Roby. He was active in both the Christian Church and Roby Baptist Church Youth Groups.
During Brian's free time, he enjoyed his Chevy S-10 pickup, his Thump stereo, and spending time with his girlfriend Amy. He lived each day to the fullest. Brian will be sadly missed by his family, friends and classmates.
He is survived by his parents, David and Alta Clements of Plato; his paternal grandmother, Dorthea Clements of Plato; his maternal grandmother, Willa M. Coonts of Illinois; two brothers, Jim of Illinois and Wade of Florida; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 1, 1990, at the Roby Baptist Church with Rev. Clinton Taylor officiating. Music was provided by Janice Smith, Sheldon Zook, and Norman Zook. They were accompanied by Mrs. Norman Zook. Serving as escorts were Mike Adams, Michael Earp, David Ingle, Colin Long, Greg Lund, Mike Phillips, Mike Quick, and Donald Bilderback.
Burial was in the Palace Union Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel. A memorial has been established in the name of Brian Clements.

WALTER A. ALEXANDER. 1914-1990

Walter A. Alexander was born in Brumley MO, on August 5, 1914, the son of William and Malinda Luttrell Alexander, and passed away suddenly on May 26, 1990. He had attained the age of 74 years, 9 months and 21 days.
He was united in marriage to Goldie M. McDowell on October 1, 1935, in Waynesville.
Walter is survived by his wife, Goldie of the home; one brother, Bernie of Victorville CA; and three sisters, Dora Keith and Alma Robbinett of Wapto, WA, and Dorothy Ash of Villa Ridge, MO; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl, and three sisters, Mary Thornton, Emma Robbinett, and Amanda Rowden, and his parents.
He became a member of Christ Church and was a faithful member for many years. He was a carpenter at Ft. Leonard Wood for over 35 years, being a carpenter and farmer by trade. He lived in Miller and Pulaski Counties all of his life and will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Home in Crocker on Tuesday, May 29, 1990, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Lee Todd and Farris Wall officiating. Burial was in Hawkeye Cemetery.
Serving as his pallbearers were Cecil and Calvin Penland, Wayne Moneymaker, Clark Slawson, Dennis Cochran, and Clay Duncan.

Ansel Routh 1907-1990

Ansel Routh, 83, of Springfield, died at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, August 25, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield MO.
A former Waynesville resident, he moved to Springfield in the mid-1970s. He was a retired self-employed electrical contractor, having owned and operated Routh and Son Electric, and also was a former employee of Laclede Electric Co-Operative. He was a member of Dale Street United Methodist Church and the Springfield Lions Club.
He is survived by a son, Jack of Marshfield; a brother, Rev. Eli Routh of Springfield; a sister, Elfie Elliff of Pittsburg, KS; and a granddaughter, Vicki Routh Cobb of Springfield.
Services were held at 10:00, Tuesday, August 28, in Greenlawn North Chapel, Springfield, with Rev. Bob Casady officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

NEIL T. SMITH, 1917-1990

Services for Neil T. Smith, 73, of Waynesville, will be held at 10.30 a.m. Thursday in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Mr. Smith, a retired U. S. Army Master Sergeant, died at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 1990, from injuries suffered in an automobile/tractor accident.
Visitation will be from 9.00 a.m. until service time Thursday in the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Ina, of the home; four daughters, Mary Gregory of Palmer, AK; Martha Smith of Eugene, OR; Ann Porter of Waynesville and Kay Long of Laquey; one sister, Eleanor Williams of Des Moines, IA; two brothers, Keith Smith of Ottumwa, IA; and Dwight Smith of Camp Hill, PA; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Myrtle Alva (Greensteet) Mitschele 1894-1990

Myrtle Alva Greenstreet Mitschele was born on February 25, 1894, the daughter of Russ and Laura (Wilson) Greenstreet in Camden County, MO, and passed away on June 7, 1990. She had attained the age of 96 years.
She was united in marriage to Harvey Mitschele on February 28, 1912, and unto this union six children were born. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1954.
Myrtle accepted Christ as her savior in October, 1908, at the age of 14 years, and joined the Elm Grove Church, where she was the church's oldest member. She served her church for many years as a teacher and was faithful to attend as long as she was able. During her last years, reading was one of her greatest pleasures. Her Bible was always by her bedside.
She is survived by two daughters, Edith and her husband Bob Frazier, with whom she made her home, and Pauline Mitschele of Crocker; two sons, John and his wife Doris of Sherman, TX, and Phillip of Richland; 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Sallie Becker; and one sister-in-law, Myra Greenstreet of Richland, with a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Jessie Thornsberry and Marie Durham; two brothers, Dave Greenstreet and one brother in infancy; two children, Marie Holdren and Thomas Mitschele. She will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services were held in the Elm Grove Baptist Church in Richland on Saturday, June 9, 1990, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Pryor Ray Prewett officiating. Burial was in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Serving as her pallbearers were William and Joe Holdren; Roy Gene, Lloyd Dean, James Alva and Terry Lee Mitschele. In lieu of flowers, please give to the Elm Grove Cemetery Association.

LESTER HENRY CLARK, 1903-1990

Lester Henry Clark of Buckhorn, son of Verette Clark and Florence Eldora (Bales) Clark, was born February 13, 1903, at Belfonte, MO. He went to be with his Lord May 30, 1990, at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, at the age of 87.
Lester accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in 1925. He was a member of the Buckhorn Baptist Church.
He was united in marriage to Ruby King, and to this union five children were born: Walter, Beauford, Donald, Gilbert, and Geneva. Gilbert and Geneva preceded him in death.
On September 9, 1950, in Arkansas, he was married to Verdie Leah Harris Salsman, and to this union one son, Gary, was born.
Lester enjoyed farming and the outdoors. He was a kind and gentle man and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife Verdie; four sons, Gary, Walter, and Beauford all of Waynesville, and Donald of Lebanon; two step-daughters, Maxine Hutton of Pekin, IL and Pauline Dennis of Akron, OH; a stepson Jimmy Salsman of East Peoria, IL; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two children and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 1990, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Don Martin and Rev. Larry Atkins officiating. Music was provided by Rev. Larry Atkins. Serving as escorts were Gary Clark, Chris Clark, Jimmy Salsman, Earl Dennis, Jimmy Hutton and Art Simmoneau, Sr. Serving as honorary escorts were Art Simmoneau, Jr., and Edward Gutierrez.
Burial was in the Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Josie Virginia McCumber 1898-1990

Josie Virginia McCumber of Waynesville, daughter of Jeff Davis Sexton and Virginia (Batson) Sexton, was born in Cleora, Indian Territory (this was before Oklahoma became a state) on July 11, 1898. She departed this life April 25, 1990, in the Waynesville Nursing Center, Waynesville, MO, at the age of 91.
Jo accepted Christ and was baptized into the Baptist faith as a young girl.
On November 27, 1916, Josie was united in marriage to George A. McCumber; the ceremony took place in her parents' home. Jo and George spent over 66 years together before George passed away on June 9, 1983.
Jo and George spent most of their lives in Vinita, OK. George retired as owner and operator of the DX service station in Vinita, and Jo was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening and houseplants. She had quite a green thumb.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, G. A. and Vicky L. McCumber of Waynesville; a sister, Hazel Davis, of Tulsa, OK; a granddaughter, Elizabeth McCumber of Lincoln, NE; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Josie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.
The body was in state Thursday and Friday, April 26 and 27, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 28 in the Ketchum Cemetery near Vinita OK, under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

HUGH VALENTINE BRADSHAW, 1921-1990

Hugh Valentine Bradshaw was born on February 14, 1921, in England, to parents Hugh and Elizabeth (Murray) Bradshaw, and passed away Wednesday, April 18, 1990 at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora, CO, at the age of 69 years.
Hugh spent nearly 31 years in the U. S. Army before retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He was a brave and highly decorated soldier, and was proud that he served his country in three wars, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. "Pappy," as he was affectionately known by his friends and co-workers, worked for Civil Service in the Maintenance Department of the 577th Engineer Battalion for over 14 years before retiring in June of 1988. He was a welder by trade for over 40 years.
Hugh was united in marriage to Jung Ae Cho on March 7, 1961, in Seoul, South Korea. They shared nearly 30 years of marriage and four loving children.
Hugh was a very talented musician. He played the accordion, organ, piano, guitar and harmonica. He played professionally for a while, but played mostly for the enjoyment of his family and friends. He also loved to trout fish in our area streams.
He is survived by his wife, Jung Ae, of the home; a son Wally Bradshaw of St. Robert; three daughters, Rose Bradshaw Endsley of Germany; Linda Bradshaw Lathrop of St. Robert; and Janet Bradshaw of Buckhorn; four grandchildren, Alexander Ramirez, Leana, Elizabeth and Christopher Bradshaw. Several other relatives and friends also survive. Hugh will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Bradshaw.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel, with Chaplain (MAJ) Brian Hare officiating. Organist Dorothy Moore provided music. Escorts were military.
Burial with military honors was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

SHIRLEY MAY KEPPEL MORING, 1935-1990

Shirley May Keppel Moring was born June 23, 1935, to her parents Leslie and Ellen (Foster) Ham and departed this life Thursday, July 12, 1990 in Crocker, MO. She was 55.
Shirley was a very kind and generous person. She was always willing to help a friend in need.
Shirley enjoyed life. She loved fishing, hunting and being outdoors in general. She was an excellent cook and seamstress.
Shirley owned and operated Shirley's Sunshine Cafe for several years in Dixon.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Moring of Crocker; two daughters, Martha Kelly of Oklahoma City, OK and Malinda Kelley of Waynesville; one son, Robin Keppel of Crocker; her mother and stepfather, Ellen and Bill Biver of Pacific, MO; two sisters, Leona Huff and Sue Rigsby of Waynesville; a brother Paul Ham of Dixon; five grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 15, in Dixon City Cemetery with Rev. Robert Kimmis officiating. Family members served as escorts. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel. A memorial has been established in the name of Shirley May Moring.

DARRIEL WILLIAM DAVENPORT, 1931-1990

Darriel William Davenport, son of Floyd Lawrence and Ruby (Myers) Davenport, was born December 18, 1931, in Winnepeg, MO, and departed this life May 22, 1990, at Waynesville, MO at the age of 58 years, 5 months and 4 days.
In January of 1965, he was united in marriage with Linda Bozinski, and to this union was born one son.
On November 23, 1944, he professed his faith in Christ and became a member of the Idumea Baptist Church, where he remained until his death.
Darriel was the area supervisor with C&H Sugar Company in Crockett, CA, for several years.
He served with the United States Army from February, 1952, until January, 1954.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby Davenport, Waynesville; one son, Darriel William Davenport, Jr., of Pacific, MO; one brother, Floyd Davenport of Labadie, MO; two sisters, Evelyn Vaughn of Brentwood, CA and Johnnie Brown, St. Petersburg, FL; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Davenport, and one sister, Betty Davenport.

FRED RAY THOMPSON, 1934-1990

Fred Ray Thompson of Richland, son of Charles Edward Thompson and Maudie Ruth (Mears) Thompson, was born March 23, 1934, in Yellville, AR. He departed this life April 21, 1990, in Lebanon, MO, at the age of 56.
On April 24, 1954, Fred was united in marriage to Opal Ray. Fred and Opal shared nearly 36 years together.
Fred and Opal lived in the Fair Grove area for about eight years, where they owned a dairy farm. He loved so much to farm. Fred was also involved in real estate in the Springfield area before moving back to the Richland-Buckhorn area two years ago. He had recently opened the Interstate Food Mart at the Buckhorn Exit of I-44. He and his brother Chuck also owned the Interstate Development shopping and office center.
Fred was a much loved and respected man by his family, friends and employees. It has been said that he was the finest and most caring employer that one could ever have. Whenever a friend or neighbor would need help, Fred was there. He will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Survivors include his wife, Opal; his mother, Maudie Ruth Thompson of St. Robert; two brothers, Jim and Chuck Thompson, both of Waynesville; two sisters, Geneva Treat of St. Robert and Carolyn Savage of Nixa; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father and one brother, Kenneth Lee.
Fred Thompson, such a loved and cherished man, will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family, friends and community.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. James Routh officiating. Music was provided by vocalist Jay Thompson, Fred's nephew, who was accompanied by organist Dorothy Moore. Serving as escorts were Errol Case, Bill Elliott, Norman Gant, Don Lund, Donnie Thomas and Bob Woody. Honorary escorts were Alva Foote and Walter Williams.
Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

EMMA JANE SNODERLY 1895-1990

Emma Jane Snoderly, daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Eliza Jane (Cotton) Houston, was born July 10, 1895, at Bagnell, MO, and departed this life June 7, 1990, at Lake Ozark General Hospital, Osage Beach, MO, at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 28 days.
She was united in marriage to Lee D. Snoderly on September 27, 1917. They were long-time members of Beulah Baptist Church.
Survivors include four children; Ruby Lee Goforth of Richland; Roy Leland Snoderly of La Hambra, CA; Juanita Mae Pugh of Lebanon, and Glynn Houston Snoderly of Long Beach, CA; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 9 brothers, 5 sisters, her husband and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, June 10, at 2 p.m., under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery. Escorts were Don Goforth, Greg Snoderly, Dave Ortman, Bob Goforth, Bill Buck, and Rick Beeson.

Fern (Roam) McMillin 1926-1990

Fern Roam McMillin of Waynesville, MO, was born in Pulaski County, MO, on February 20, 1926, to Lon Roam and Odessa Mae (Dye) Roam and passed away on April 15, 1990, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Springfield MO following a three-month illness. She had reached the age of 64 years.
Fern taught school at Fairview, Big Piney and Laquey schools after graduating from high school and attending college.
She was also involved with the Pulaski County Democrat as bookkeeper and co-owner with her husband for over twenty years, until they sold the newspaper in 1978.
She was very proud of her work with the city of Waynesville. She served on the Waynesville City Council from November 18, 1988, until the time of her passing. She was always a lover of nature. She enjoyed her garden and took pride in her flower bed.
Fern was a charter member of the First Christian Church in Waynesville, helping to organize the church there.
She was also a charter member of the Homebuilders Club and a member of the Hansen Chapter, Eastern Star, since 1957.
Fern held great pride in her heart for her family and friends and always was willing to help those in need. She had a strong belief in God and held onto that faith until the end of her life.
She was united in marriage to Leamon Douglas Brown in December of 1944. He preceded her in death in July of 1954. Fern was united in marriage to John Hylton McMillin on July 21, 1955. He passed away in October of 1988.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in law, Karolyn and Larry Lercher, of Waynesville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Mary McMillin of Georgia, and Rich and Kathy McMillin of Waynesville. Four grandchildren also survive, Layne and Brock Lercher and Matthew and Sarah McMillin. One sister, Lucille Howlett of Richland, and one brother, Dale Roam of Florida, also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. McMillin were held on Wednesday, April 18, 1990, at 1 p.m. at the Waynesville Memorial Chapel in Waynesville, with her pastor, Virgil White, officiating. Serving as escorts were Bryan Schaffner, Alfred Lercher, Walter Weber, Ed Shelden, Eddie Howlett, and Bill Nicks. Honorary escorts were George lane, Bill Ransdall, Roy Nichols, Don McCullough, Dave Teufel, Jerry Nelson and Dale Weber.
Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Estelle Ophelia Bates 1894-1990

Estelle Ophelia Bates, of Waynesville, daughter of Larkin Rufus Bates and Mary Alice (Howard) Bates, was born October 17, 1894, in Waynesville, MO. She went to be with her Lord May 27, 1990, at Waynesville, MO, at the age of 95.
One of five children, Estelle and her two sisters and two brothers grew up and attended school in Waynesville. Upon graduation, Estelle moved to St. Louis, MO, where she went to work for Missouri Pacific Railroad. After retirement, she moved to Springfield, MO, where she lived until 1978, when she came back to Waynesville. Estelle was a member of the First Christian Church of Waynesville.
Estelle was a dear, sweet lady who was very loved by her family and many friends. They will miss her greatly.
Survivors include three nephews, Donald Bowman of Sherman Oaks, CA, Robert Bowman of Vista, CA, and Clare Bates of Van Buren, AR; and one niece, Blanche Mace of Springfield, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel, with her pastor, Virgil White, officiating. Soloist Karen Hayes sang two of Estelle's favorites, "How Great Thou Art" and "Abide With Me." She was accompanied by organist Dorothy Moore.
Serving as escorts were Clare Bates, Donald Bowman, Bill House, C. W. Parker, and Kenton Wagner.
Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery, Crocker, MO. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

ROBERT (BOB) LOGAN, 1924-1986

Robert "Bob" W. Logan, 62, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, October 27 at the Phelps County Regional Hospital, Rolla.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 29, from 4 to 7 p.m., with services in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Lindell Shelden officiating.
He was a member of the Waynesville I.O.O.F. and Rebekka Lodge and was employed y the Waynesville R-6 School district.
Survivors of Mr. Logan ar his wife, Nancy, of the home; one daughter, Cheryl and son-in-law Scott Frandsen of Lake Ozark, MO; his mother, Evelyn, of Waynesville; two sisters, Loretta Benavidez of Maple Wood, MO and Bessie Hill of Affton, MO; one aunt, Mae Johnson of Waynesville; four nieces and one nephew.
A memorial has been established to the Pulaski County Hospital Fund.

Dorsey Rudolph Sheeley 1906-1985

Dorsey Rudolph Sheeley, son of Charley and Emmaline Eakens Sheeley, was born June 6, 1906, in Pulaski County, and departed this life July 16, 1985, at Lake Ozark, Missouri.
He was a member of the Christian Church of Iberia, and a lifelong resident of Pulaski County.
Dorsey is survived by one brother, Frank, of Crocker, one sister, Dorothy Myers of Texas; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Henry A., Rockford McKinley; Ralph Trego, John and Jacob Jackson; two sisters, Ada Lee Stout and Elizah Katheryn Goff.
Funeral services were held from the Colonial Funeral Chapel, at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 1985, with John Davenport, Minister, officiating. The organist was Marcia Shadel.
Burial was in the Concord Cemetery under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Chapel.
Escorts were Roy Henry, Bill Salsman, B. P. Thacker, Dale Fritts, Victor Henson and Claude Hickey.

GLEN HARRISON BETHUREM, 1907-1985

Glen Harrison Bethurem, son of William and Dora Marshall Bethurem, was born January 7, 1907 at Stoutland, MO, and departed this life February 28, 1985, in Ellis Fischel State Cancer Center, Columbia, MO.
On February 18, 1931, he was united in marriage with Pearl Gideon and to this union were born four children, all surviving.
As a young man Glen professed his faith in Christ and united with the Stoutland Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of the home; one son, Morris, of Springfield, MO; three daughters, LaVera Millingam, Julia Butteris and Deborah Kinworthy, all of Stoutland, MO; one sister, Mrs. Marjory Frederick, Montreal, MO; three brothers, Waldo of Richland, MO, Ralph of Crocker, MO, and Lee of Kansas City, MO; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Rose Mary, and two brothers, James and Forrest Bethurem.
Glen was a good Christian husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held from the Stoutland Baptist Church Monday, March 4, 1985, with Lindell Vawter, Minister, officiating. Burial was in the Stoutland Cemetery under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Chapels.

GRACE O. NEELEY 1907-1982

Mrs. Grace O. Neeley, 75, 406 Walnut St., died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a long illness. Born September 15, 1907, at Prosperity, she married Plez N. Neeley Dec. 28, 1930. They operated Daisy Courts, Carthage, for several years. Mr. Neeley died June 10, 1977.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pastor's Sunday School class, Pythian Sisters and Business and Professional Women, Carthage.
Survivors are a son, Richard M. Neeley, Fort Worth, TX; four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Stephenson and Mrs. Mary Hixon, both of 1026 Garrison St., Miss Pauline Wheeler, 2440 Clinton St., and Mrs. Anita Todd, Houston, TX; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Knell Mortuary with the Rev. Carl Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.

LUCINDA (LOU) ALICE ASHMORE 1899-1993

Lucinda (Lou) Alice (Granny) Ashmore, after attaining the age of 94 years, was promoted to her well deserved reward in heaven on Wednesday, July 14, 1993, at the Tri-County Nursing Home in Richland, Missouri.
Lou was born the daughter of Frank and Flora Pettingill on September7, 1899, in Vallisca, Iowa.
As a young girl, Lou accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and she was baptized. Lou was a member of the Concord Christian Church near Crocker, Missouri, for many years.
Lou was united in marriage to Ferdinand (Ferd) Ashmore. They celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary in Richland. To this union two sons were born, Leonard (Bus) and their infant son.
Lou was thc administrator of the Miller County Rest Home near Tuscumbia, Missouri, for several years during the 1950s. Lou and her late husband Ferd traveled, worked and resided in several states, including Iowa, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. They made their home in Miller County and later Pulaski County for the most part of their lives.
Lou is survived by her daughter-in-law Marie Ashmore; her four grandchldren, Bill Ashmore and his wife Tina of Pea ridge, AR, Terry "Bo" Ashmore and his wife Kathy of Bentonville, AR, Tammy (Ashmore) Bonneville and her husband Allan of Memphis TN, and Tammy's twin borther Robbie Ashmore of Little Rock, AR; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Betty Bryson of Grant, Iowa, Dick and Bud Henry, Doris Hickey and Betty Rourke.
Lou was preceded in death by her husband Ferd; her two sons, Leonard "Bus" and an infant son; her parents, Frank and Flora Pettingill,; her twin grandchildren, Randy and Rhonda (children of Leonard and Marie Ashmore; two sisters, Ruby Henry of Eldon, Missouri and Mame Wright of Washington State; and four brothers, John, Everett, Clifford and Chester Pettingill.
Lou will be sadly missed by a host of friends and relatives who knew and loved her.
The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, July 17, 1993, at the Concord Christian Church, Crocker, Missouri, with Brother Lee A. Todd officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.


NELLIE O. ALLEN 1908-1993


Nellie O. Allen, 84, daughter of George Hurley and Lucille May Hurley, was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on August 29, 1908 and dled July 26, 1993 in Springfleld, Mo. On June 26, 1923 she was united ln marriage with Elmer Allen,and to this union were born three sons and one daughter. A son, Lloyd Allen, preceded her in death.
She lived in the Richland area most of her life. She enjoyed quilting and reading.
Those surviving include her daughter, Ruby Patton of Stoutland; two sons, Tommy Allen of Richland and Wayne Allen of Lone Jack, Mo.; a half brother. Jack Roblnson; a niece, Louise Hudson of Davenport, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents; three grandchildren and one great grandchild; and by several brother and sisters.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 29 at the Colonial Funeral Chapel in Richland, MO, with Harvey Dye, Minister, officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Escorts were Roger Allen, Mike Allen, Mark Patton, Larry Patton, Tim Patton and Thomas Glenn Allen. Honorary escorts were Larry Hudson, Lloyd Patton, Eddie Hudson and Charles Sullivan.
Colonial Funeral Chapels were in charge of the servlces.

Fleshia E. Andrews (1908-1984)

Fleshia E. Andrews, daughter of John and Sinda Burton, was born in Camden County, Missouri, on November 28, 1908, and passed away on March 20, 1984, at the Ozark Care Center in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 22 days.
On April 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to Fred M. Andrews. Mr. Andrews passed away March 22, 1974.
Survivors include two sisters, Rosalie Ray of Camdenton MO and Opal Wilson of Richland MO; three brothers, Everett Henson of Richland MO, Mark Henson of Parker WA, and Jess Henson of Richland MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
visitation was held Friday, March 24, 1984 at the Hedges Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, 1984 at 10 a.m. at the Georgia Wade Chapel at Hedges Funeral Home, with Reverend Larry Burke officiating. Pallbearers were George Jones, Raymond fohn, Gary Henson, Vernon Wilson, Junior Wilson, and Dean Wilson. Burial was in the Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Hedges funeral Home.


FLOSSIE CORNELIA McCLENDON 1912-1986


Flossie Cornelia McClendon was born in Bloodland, Missouri on January 17, 1912, the daughter of Narbanus and Eva Hill Crossland; and passed away in the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia on May 6, 1986. She had attained the age of 74 years.

She was united in marriage to Everett McClendon, and to this union one daughter and four sons were born. Flossie is survived by her daughter Wanda Anderson of Dixon; four sons, J. D. McClendon of Devil's Elbow, Lloyd McClendon of Lebanon, Doug McClendon of Dixon, and Roy McClendon of Jerome; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Sam Crossland of Swifton AR and Earl Crossland of Dixon; two sisters, Sylvia S. Pears of Bentonville, AR and Maude Sanders of Hunt, AR; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandchildren, three brothers and five sisters.
She accepted Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age and was a member of the Sheppard Baptist Church. She loved her gardening and quilting and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 9, 1986, with Brother Ed Pierce officiating. Burial was in Pisgah Cemetery. Kathy Brandt was the pianist, and serving as her pallbearers were Roy and Jack Crossland and Doug, Lloyd, Don Baker, and Claude Long.

EARL THOMAS COLLINS, 1816-1984


Earl Thomas Collins, of rural Vienna, was born on September 15, 1916, the son of Perry and Oma Collins, and departed this life at 3:26 p.m., on Tuesday afternoon, November 26, 1985, at his residence near Vienna. He had been ailing with lung cancer for the past year and a
half, but had been in failing health for the past six years. He had attained the age of 69 years, 2 months and ll days.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America. the Disabled American Veterans and a veteran of World War II. He was a retired auto mechanic.
Cremation was under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home. Vienna.

INA AUGUSTA THOMAS 1894-1985

INA AUGUSTA THOMAS

Ina Augusta Thomas, daughter of Jessie Monroe and Lavanda Clark York, was born near Doublin, September 20, 1894 and departed this life November 24, 1985 in Lebanon,
Missouri. "Gusta" as she was known to her family and friends, attended the Doublin School, Richland High School and The Springfield Normal Teachers College. She started teaching school at the age of 16, teaching at the Tavern School, Belfonte School' and the Doublin School.
She was united in marriage with Elhannon W. (Chester) Thomas October 25, 1916, and to this union was born one son, who survives. After their marriage they lived near and
attended the Beulah Baptist Church until 1924, then moved near and attended the Montrose Sunday School and attended the First Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and active member for the remainder of her life.
She was a devoted and diligent wife, mother and neighbor. She taught Sunday School throughout her adult life; was a member of the Montrose Mothers 'Club, was a Red Cross
Volunteer at the Richland Nursing Home, and was always cheerfully and lovingly willing to do more than her share.
She is survived by her son. Elhannon W. Thomas..Jr. of Catlos, California; one foster son, Baker Wilson, Jr., of Richland; two sisters, Gail Snoderly of Kosse, Texas, Kitty Burke of Richland; one grandson, Kenneth Thomas of Burlingame, California; one granddaughter,
Gwyn Beatty of Long Beach, California; four great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held Tuesday, November 26, 1985, 2:00 P.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Marshall officiating. Music was provided by Denice Cottiers, soloist and Valarie Pafford, organist. Eicorts were: Jack Williams, Ivy Powers, Robert Vance, Gary Brown, Don Roam, and Ben Scott. Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland.

Esther Florance (Belton) Gray 1918-2010

Esther Florance Gray, of Devil's Elbow, formerly of Brentwood, was born on April 3, 1918, at Dixon, a daughter of Alfred and Dora (Miller) Belton, and departed this life at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 16, 2010, at her residence in Devil's Elbow. Mrs. Gray had attained the age of 92 years, 4 months and 13 days.

Mrs. Gray was united in marriage on June 10, 1949 at Mountain Home, Arkansas to Mr. Edward Lee Gray and they were blessed with two children. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Juanita Van Huss; her parents; one brother, Richard Miller and three sisters, Gertrude Vest, Connie Howser and Rosie Gage.

Mrs. Gray accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior in 1954 and was a member of the Mattise Baptist Church, St. Louis for several years and then moving her membership to the Southside Baptist Church, St. Louis, where she served as President of the Women's Missionary Union. After moving to Devil's Elbow she attended Sheppard Baptist Church near Dixon. She was a loving and devoted housewife and mother for all her working life.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Gray include: her husband, Edward Gray, of the home in Devil's Elbow; one son, Mark Edward Gray, St. Louis; five grandchildren, Veronica, Bradley, Kelsey, Stephanie and Jamie; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Gray at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Dixon Chapel of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes with Bro. Bill Affolter, Maplewood Baptist Church, officiating. George Sneed sung "I've Got A Mansion" and "Peace In The Valley" for the funeral service.

Interment was in the Dry Creek Cemetery near St. Robert under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearer for Mrs. Gray were Bradley Gray, Charlie Gray, Adam Rodabaugh, Lonnie Young, Ralph Rodabaugh and Monroe Rodabaugh.

Harold Eugene Farquhar 1931-2010

Harold Eugene Farquhar, of Montreal, was born on November 4, 1931, at Clinton, Oklahoma, a son of Harold F. and Beatrice J.(Keithly)Farquhar and departed this life at 4:03 p.m.,Sunday, September 19, 2010 in the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach. Mr. Farquhar had attained the age of 78 years, 10 months and 15 days.

Mr. Farquhar was united in marriage on April 8, 1982, at Licking to Janette Alma Bess. He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Edwin Farquhar.

Mr. Farquhar was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was baptized early in life and member of the Baptist Church; the Veteran's of Foreign Wars,
St. Robert; and had coached football while living in Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Dallas Cowboys, feeding birds and squirrels and gardening. He had worked as a boiler plant operator and a pipe fitter for civil service and later for the Harbert Company.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Farquhar include: his wife, Janett Farquhar, Montreal; five sons, Harold E. Farquhar, Hollister and Wayne A. McClintock, Jr. and finance Connie Martin, St. Genevieve; two daughters and son-in-laws, Karma and Gomer Gowens, Licking; Teresa and Joe Firestine, Salem: twelve grandchildren, Misty, James, Jackie, Zach,Tameka, Sarah, Natashia, Curtis, Dustin, Garrett, Hannah and Landon: eight great-greandchildren; three great -grandchildren are expected soon; many fishing buddies, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Farquhar at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Bro. Lyndell Decker, Round Pond Baptist Church, Salem officiating. "Commited" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were played for the service.

Interment with full military honors was in the Pisgah Cemetery, near Dixon under the direction of Long-Kloepped Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Pallbearers for Mr. Farquhar were James D. Kennedy, Jackie L. Firestine, Zachary E. West, David M. Towery, Wayne A McClintock, Jr.; and Gomer Gowens. Honorary pallbeareres were Louis Hey and John Atcley.

Norman Ray Evans 1941-2010

Norman Ray Evans, of rural Dixon, was born on March 1, 1941, near Dixon, a son of William Clay and Martha Irene (Kelley) Evans, and departed this life to be seated at the right hand of Jesus, at 4:06 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2010, at his residence near Dixon. Norman had battled complications from colon cancer for the past two years and had attained the age of 69 years, seven months and six days.

Norman was united in marriage on April 23, 1967, in the Santee Church, near Dixon, to Carolyn Jean Warnol and to this union two daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his Father on November 13, 1975; his Mother on February 14, 2001; one Brother, Leroy Evans on June 4, 2005; his father-in-law, W.T. Warnol on March 8, 2001; one nephew, Randall Evans on September 4, 1999; sister-in-law, Susan Evans in May 2010; brohter-in-law, Chess Warnol on March 22, 2002; sister-in -law, Neoma Sommer, May 19, 2008 and Louella Warnol in May 2, 1943.

Norman had been a member of the Lighthouse Worship Center, Dixon; a member of the Arlington Masonic Lodge No. 346, AF&AM, Dixon; the Order of Eastern Star, Rainbow Chapter No. 263, Vienna; and a volunteer for the Dixon Fire Department for many years. He had worked for Brown Shoe Company, Dixon, retiring after 25 years and later for the University of Missouri Rolla, retiring after 13 years, as well as working for the funeral homes. He loved gardening, working in his yard, watching birds, fishing, hunting and being with his family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Norman include: his wife, Carolyn Jean Evans, of the home near Dixon; his two daughters and son-in-law, Leann and Dallas McNew, Dixon and Laura Bodkins, Dixon; son-in-law, Ron Bodkins, Dixon; his mother-in-law, Thelma Warnol, Dixon; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Vernon Smith, Dixon; Lucille and Russell Blackwell, Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Debbie and Bruce Doublin, Lebanon; five grandchildren, Andrew and wife Melissa; Jordan and husband, Jared; Lauren, Haley and Daniel; two step grandchildren, John and wife Katie and Stephanie and husband Jerry; one great-grandson, Tucker; three step great-grandchildren, Alisa, Kalvin and Emmit; brothers and sisters-in-law George "Bud" Sommer, Barbara Warnol, Kathryn Mitchell, Relora Wills, Donald and Tina Warnol and Carl and Cindy Warnol; numerous nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Norman at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 11, 2010 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Pastor Bruce Doublin, Lebanon and Bro. Elton Dake, Iberia officiating. "How Great Thou Art", "Do You Remember These?" "I Will Go To My Grace Loving You" and "Go Rest High On That Mountain" were played for the funeral service.

Interment was in the Warnol Family Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Norman were Andrew Evans, Daniel Simpson, John Bodkins, Jared Douglas, Donald Smith, and Bobby Dozier. Honorary pallbearers were Jordan Douglas, Lauren Simpson, Haley Simpson, Melissa Evans, Tucker Douglas, Gavin Bruff and Chadley Warnol.

Ronald David Marlow 1943-2011

Ronald David Marlow, of Iberia, was born on November 22, 1943, at New Castle, Indiana, a son of Joseph Willis and Ninia Louise (Akers) Marlow and departed this life at 1:05 a.m., Saturday morning, March 5, 2011, in the Harry S. Truman Memorial Hospital, Columbia. Mr. Marlow had attained the age of 67 years, 3 months and 11 days.

Mr. Marlow was united in marriage on February 8, 1967, at New Castle, Indiana, to Marilyn Althea Peavie and to this union two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his great uncle and great aunt, Thomas J. and Verna (Harden) Akers, who raised him; and one brother, Charles Dennis Marlow.

Mr. Marlow lived in New Castle, Indiana most of his life and at the age of 18, on December 1, 1961, entered the military at the recruiting center in Indianapolis, Indiana. After Basic Training and AIT, he was sent to Baumholder, Germany where he served with the 3rd Armord Calvary until November of 1964, when he

returned to the United States and was discharged. After various jobs in Indiana and California, Mr. Marlow met his wife, Marilyn and they had their first son. He returned to the United States Army and served in Germany where their second son was born, and served until August of 1985, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Leonard Wood. Mr. Marlow was a successful entrepreneur, musician, singer, song writer, artist and made awards for Missouri S&T, Rolla.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Marlow include: his wife, Marilyn Marlow, of the home near Iberia; two sons, Ronald David Marlow II and wife, Karen and Christopher Graham Marlow, all of Iberia; four half brothers, James Marlow and Wayne Marlow, both of New Castle, Indiana and Sonny Fosnight and Doug Fosnight; six grandchildren, Ronald David Marlow, III, Zachary Matthew Marlow, Emily Ryann Marlow, Christa Danielle Marlow, Cole Michael Marlow and Caleb Christopher Marlow; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Marlow at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 7, 2011, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker, with Chaplain Troy Allison, Fort Leonard Wood, officiating. Liz Tanner sang three favorite selections for the service.

Interment with full military honors was in the Bethany Cemetery near Crocker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mr. Marlow were United States Army personnel, Fort Leonard Wood.

Peter David Wright 1928-2010

Mr. Peter "Pete" David Wright, of Dixon, was born on April 7, 1928, at Alton, Illinois a son of Frank and Faye (Rintoul) Wright and departed this life at 8:31 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2010, at his residence in Dixon. Mr. Wright had been ill for some time and had attained the age of 82 years, 3 months and 23 days.

Mr. Wright was united in marriage on May 4, 1996 in Pulaski County to Barbara Imogene Lawson. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jessie L. Atterberry; one daughter, Bridgette Griffen and brothers and sisters.

Mr. Wright was a United States veteran and had retired from ABB, Westinghouse, in Jefferson City. He loved to fish and be with his family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Wright include: his wife, Barbara Wright, Dixon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patricia and Roger Bean and Tonya Atterberry, all of Dixon; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Wright at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2010 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Rev. Don Kabel, First Baptist Church, Crocker officiating. Four favorite musicals selections were played for the serviced.

Interment with full military honors was in the Jim-Matt Lawson Cemetery, Iberia under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Wright were Rodney Templeton, Brad Atterberry, Andy Brown, Dale Templeton, Kenny Baker and Malcom Carron. Honorary pallbearers were Logan Atterberry, Mike Kitson, Sr.; Linda Atterberry and Clark Kitson. The Leismann-Roberts American Legion Post No. 298, Dixon provided military honors.

Dale Joseph Greer 1933-2010

MR. DALE JOSEPH GREER

Dale Joseph Greer, of Crocker, was born on April 27, 1933, at Webster Grove, a son of Walter Wade and Sylvia (Story) Greer and departed this life at 8:38 p.m., Sunday, April 4, 2010, in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Ft. Leonard Wood. Mr. Greer had attained the age of 76 years, 11 months and 7 days.

Mr. Greer was united in marriage on April 11, 1998, at Crocker to Rosemary “Rody” Skinner. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 12, 2009; his father on March 17, 1978; his mother on August 18, 1989; four sisters, Maxine, Nadine, Norma and Betty.

Mr. Greer was a member of the Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker and a United States Army veteran. He had worked as a construction Forman and was a member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 110 for over 50 years. He loved to fish, deer hunt, yard work and go to church singings.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Greer include: one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Patty Greer, Lebanon; two step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, Danny “Moose” and Barb Lane, Dixon and Mike and Becky Lane, Swedeborg; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jimmy Doyle, Dixon; one sister, Judy Roebuck, Immokalee, Florida; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Greer at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker with Bro. Billy Claiborn, Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker, officiating. “The Old Rugged Cross”, “When We All Get To Heaven” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” were played for the service.

Interment with full military honors was in the Antioch Cemetery, near Crocker, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mr. Greer were Dale Fall, Jason Fall, Kenneth Greer, Jr., Jimmy Doyle, II, Doug Burnett and Darrell Burnett.
