Ocie Roam 1913-2005

Ocie Roam, 92, of Richland, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Cox South, in Springfield.

She was born Jan. 17, 1913, in Richland, to James Luther Deberry and Ida Ardeena Manuel Deberry.

On June 15, 1929, she married Ferrel H. Roam, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Rowden and her husband, Arthur, of Lebanon and Mary Jane Moss and her husband, Freeman, of Richland; a sister, Dorothy Sears, of Richland; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services for Ocie Roam are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Thieme-Shadel Funeral Service at Colonial Chapel of Richland

Glen Overton Roam 1910-2007

Glen Overton Roam was born on November 13, 1910 in Waynesville, Missouri. to Alpha Overton and Edith (Lundstrom) Roam. He passed away in Visalia, CA on December 2, 2007 at the age of 97 years.

Glen married Jenny McKinney in Grandin in 1937 and their only son, Herman Overton, was born in 1939. They moved to Woodlake, CA in 1946 where he farmed oranges and to Visalia in the late 1950's where he was head custodian at Royal Oaks and Divisadero schools. After Jenny's death in 1968, he reunited with an old friend from Missouri, Louise Sparks Snider, and they married in 1969. He was pre-deceased by his son, H.O. in 1988 and Louise in 2005.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Jerry Roam and his wife Susan, Utah, Terry Roam, Utah, Larry Roam, Lemoore, and Debra Hannig and her husband, Greg, Utah, his brother, Mac H. Roam, Woodlake; his sister, Helen Manes, Springfield, Missouri, his niece, Nancy Van Dellen and her husband, Lubbert, of Visalia, his step-son, Maurice Snider and his wife, Judy of Oregon, 14 great-and great-great- grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Glen was an active member of the First Baptist Church for many years.

Graveside Services will be held at Visalia District Cemetery on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m.

Dwight Roam 1932-2006

Dwight Roam 74, of Camdenton, formally of Richland, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at St. John’s Hospital-Lebanon.

He was born June 12, 1932 in Richland to Frank William and Golda Marie Thornsberry Roam who preceded him in death.

On Dec. 24, 1958, he married Winona Hickman, who also preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Don Roam, and a grandson, Rick Schupe.

He was the co-owner of Roam Hardware Store in Richland and a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Camdenton.

He is survived by a step son, Jerry Schupe and his wife, Sherry, of Charleston, Ark.; a grandson, Craig Schupe, of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Alice Roam, of Richland; two nephews, Frank Roam and his wife, Carol, of Lebanon, and Kim Roam and his wife, Debbie, of Grain Valley; one niece, Sherry Struckhoff and her husband, Ken, of Richland; several great nieces and nephews; special friends Brian Miller and his wife, Beth, and their four children and other relatives and friends.

Services for Dwight Roam will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Richland with Dr. Mike Hawkins officiating.

Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Thieme-Shadel Funeral Service at Colonial Chapel in Richland.

Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday to time of service.

Memorials may be made to the Richland First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund.

Floy "Lucille" (Roam) Howlett 1923-2010

On December 12, 2010, Lucille Roam Howlett, 86 years, 11 months and 12 days, went home to be with her Lord. She was born December 31, 1923 to Lon and Odessa Dye Roam, the 1st of 3 children. She was saved at an early age and actively served in church until her health declined.

On November 18, 1941, she was married to John Dale Howlett. They were blessed with 5 children: Roger Dale and wife LaRue of Bertrand, MO, Phyllis Mae Keeney and husband Eddie of Licking, MO, David Michael and special friend Rhonda of Laquey, MO, Eddie Joe and wife Jana of Lebanon, MO and Randy Rex and wife Jeanette of Waynesville, MO. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Michelle Moeller and husband Trey, Melissa Huff and husband David, Tony Howlett and wife Julie, Ryan Howlett and wife Tina, Lynn Krauss and husband Lewis, Lori Windt and husband Joe, Hollie Thornsberry and husband Jonathan, Heather Bendix and husband Kore, Hannah and Halie Howlett. She has 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; her brother Dale Roam of Leesburg, FL; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dale, her parents, her sister Fern McMillin, twin granddaughters Susan and Sharon Keeney and great granddaughter Hannah Dorris.

She loved her family and each grandchild that came along was the prettiest baby she ever saw. After 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, she saw a lot of pretty babies.

The main purpose of her life was to be a good wife, mother and Golden Rule. She loved the role of homemaker and spent her married life trying to be the best she could be. Her love for cooking showed in the many recipes shared with others and the healthy appearance of her family. She was an artist at heart. Oil painting, ceramics, crocheting and quilting were a few of her favorites. She always had a project going and frequently gave them to friends who expressed an appreciation for her efforts.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Dr. Robert Lilly and Dr. Trey Moeller officiating. Pianist Marleen Brown accompanied soloist Becky Lecher as she sang “Beulah Land.” Serving as pallbearers were Rex Howlett, Ryan Howlett, Doug Ogle, Terry Roam, Tony Howlett and Rick McMillin. Honorary pallbearers included Morris Howlett, J.R. Black, Johnny Quesenberry, Russell Howlett, Max Howlett, Tommy Howlett, Billy Quesenberry, Robert Howlett, Donnie Howlett, Danny Howlett and Jimmy Howlett. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Hanna, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.

John B. Roam 1932-2011

John B. Roam, 79 of Huntington, WV passed from this life Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Westmoreland Church of Christ, 3209 Auburn Road, Huntington, of which he was a member, by Minister Robert Huron; burial will follow in the Maple Hill Section of Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. John was born February 25, 1932 a son of the late Jasper and Iva Roam in Pulaski County, MO. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Claude, Joe and Don and one sister, Hazel. He was the retired owner of J.R. Freight and also River Cities Freight. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Geraldine Booth Roam; two sons, Jim A. Roam and his wife Amy, Roger L. Roam, and one daughter Joanna L. Roam Bane and her husband, Jeff. John was Pa to five wonderful grandchildren: Cameron and Carly Roam; Hannah , Becca and Jeremiah Bane. In addition, John was survived by one sister and brother-in-law, May and Dick Henderson, a special friend Willis Blankenship, as well as many loving friends at Westmoreland Church of Christ. His biggest passion in life was meeting new people and interacting with the people he already knew. He was very active in watching, coaching, greeting and supporting the youth programs in any way he could. Friends may visit from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cross Pointe Community Church, 4720 Waverly Rd., Huntington, WV ( the former Keebler building). John Leland Zeigenbein 1930-2011

John Leland Zeigenbein, the eldest of seven children born to the union of the late Della (Fuller) and John Zeigenbein, was born March 30, 1930 in Waynesville, Missouri.

He departed this life January 29, 2011, at Richland Care Center, Richland, Missouri, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 30 days.

Leland leaves to cherish his memory, four children: Jeffry Zeigenbein and wife, Linda of Richland, Johnny R. Zeigenbein and wife, JaNell of Phillipsburg, Lowell Zeigenbein and wife, Christina of Richland and Cynthia Begley and husband, Kile of Stoutland; four brothers: Alfred Zeigenbein and wife, Dorothy and Lloyd Zeigenbein and wife, Veda of Richland, Charlie Zeigenbein and wife, Claudette of Brumley and Claude Zeigenbein of Waynesville; eight grandchildren: Tonya Foster, Jonie Wilson, Laci Hansard, Leslie Coryell, Julie McCray, Casey Zeigenbein, Levi and Lucas Begley; great grandchildren: Ashton Hunter Coryell, Harper and Elliot Hansard, Andi Jo Wilson, Adalyn Coryell and twins on the way; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. Peterson; his brother, Donald Wayne Zeigenbein and his sister, Lucene Holloway.

Leland grew up and attended school in the Shockley bottom area of Pulaski County.

On December 24, 1948, in Richland, Missouri, Leland was united in marriage with Ruth M. Peterson.

Leland spent much of his life in a truck hauling merchandise and livestock. He owned a fleet of trucks, and kept several drivers on the road. He enjoyed working on his farm near Stoutland.

Leland accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on April 13, 1952 at the Richland Methodist Church. He was baptized by Rev. W.A. Wilson. It is a great comfort to know that Leland is walking the streets of gold with his Lord and his loved ones.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Rev. Christopher S. Hendrix, Sr. officiating. Linda Zeigenbein, Leland’s daughter-in-law, and Gilbert Crismon recalled their wonderful memories of Leland. Pianist Becky Lercher accompanied Gilbert Crismon as he sang “Til the Storm Passes By” and “Room at the Cross”. Serving as escorts were Jeffry, Johnny, and Lowell Zeigenbein, Cynthia, Levi and Lucas Begley.

Burial followed in the St. John’s Swede Cemetery of Richland. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.

Joseph Abraham “Joe” Zeigenbein 1921-2010

Joseph Abraham “Joe” Zeigenbein was called home to be with his Lord at 10:05 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at St. John’s Regional Health Center, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 23 days.

Joe was born July 5, 1921 in Pulaski County, Missouri, where he was a lifetime resident. Joe’s mother, Potencenia Sariana Zeigenbein, his brothers: John and Ed Zeigenbein and his sister, Marie Mayor all preceded him in death.

On October 16, 1942, in Leavenworth, Kansas, Joe was united in marriage with Ica Mae Henderson. Joe and Mae were blessed with over 67 years of marriage and four children: James Richard, Howard Roy, Debra K. and Sandra J.

Joe was a farmer until 1966, when at the age of 46, he had two heart attacks in one day. At this point, Joe had already started hauling trash for people to help out with income due to the river washing all of the crops away for two straight years. Little did he know this would be the beginning of Zeigenbein Sanitation, a business he and Mae have owned and operated for 52 years. This community business serves Waynesville/St. Robert and many rural areas of Pulaski County. Joe was a great believer in the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” He was a kind, gentle man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed visiting with people.

Joe was instrumental in developing the Pulaski County Sewer District. He visited many homes in order to educate people and ask them to sign up for this service. He served on the Public Water District #2 Board for 30 years. Joe and Mae were charter members of the Ft. Wood Church of God. They began attending in 1964 when the church was being built, and put many hours into the construction. He served on the Board of Trustees from 1972 to 1988, and the Board of Deacons for 20 years.

In 2000, Joe’s kidneys failed. He spent an amazing 10 years on dialysis, making trips to Lebanon three times a week. After Joe’s heart attacks, Dr. Nickels told him if he followed doctor’s orders, he could live a long life. With the love, support and nurturing of his beloved Mae, Joe adhered to a strict diet, and lived nearly 89 years. The Zeigenbein family is very grateful to Dr. Wade Jordan for his many years of care.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Mae; four children: Richard Zeigenbein (Pauline) of St. Robert; Howard Roy Zeigenbein (Martha) of Springfield, Debra Campbell (Donald) of Waynesville and Sandra Dolan (Lyndon Copeland) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven grandchildren: Rick Zeigenbein, Tammy Burroughs, Becky White, Amanda Woodall, Michele Pfeifer, Howard Roy Zeigenbein and Katie Themel; nine great grandchildren: Shade, Brandon, Zach, Taylor, Cody, Kohl, Dylan, Noah, Hunter and one on the way; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 1, 2010 in the Church of God St. Robert with Pastor William Kempen officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Safe In the Arms of Jesus”, “Just A Rose Will Do” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Serving as escorts were Randy Walters, Hubert Shrives, James Rosenauer, Wayne Henderson, Larry Childres and Kenny Zeigenbein.

Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.

John Henry Zeigenbein 1937-2005

John Henry Zeigenbein, the fifth of twelve children born to the late Edward and Dora Mae (Carver) Zeigenbein, was born June 28, 1937 in Waynesville, Missouri. As a young boy, John and his family moved to Crocker, Missouri where he grew up and attended school.

On December 15, 1956, John was united in marriage to Donna Poulson in Crocker, Missouri. They shared over 48 years of marriage together and were blessed with five children: Kenneth, Larry, Shawn, Regina and Autumn.

John was a very hardworking man. Right after he and Donna were married, John went to work for Skaggs Furnace Company in Crocker, Missouri where they built furnaces from start to finish and installed them in homes. After leaving Skaggs, John started working with Charlie Skinner at the Brown Shoe Company in Dixon, Missouri. John then returned to Skaggs Furnace before moving his family to Illinois where he began working in the timber industry cutting stave bolts. John and Donna moved back to Crocker and opened the Standard Oil Service Station. After selling the service station, John began working for Goodrich Gas Company as a driver. After leaving the gas company, John went to work for Missouri Transit Bus Lines. He helped maintain the buses and was also a driver and worked there until 1977. John drove a cab for the Post Cab Company until the early 1980s and then became self-employed. He loved to spend time in the great outdoors and was able to work outside in the timber industry.

On the weekends, John played country music all around the area. He had the privilege of playing with Lee Mace of the Ozark Opry and was featured on KTTS Radio on several occasions. He really enjoyed getting together with his friends and meeting the different people that they played for. In his spare time, he was an avid Archery Shooter and earned several awards for his shooting ability. Most importantly, he treasured the times that he could spend with his family and friends.

John passed away the evening of Thursday, April 14, 2005 in his home at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 17 days.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his wife Donna of the home; three sons: Kenneth E. Zeigenbein and his wife Linda of Devils Elbow, MO, Larry A. Zeigenbein and his wife Tonya of Crocker, MO, and Shawn Glenn Zeigenbein of Devils Elbow, MO; two daughters: Regina A. Zeigenbein of St. Robert, MO and Autumn Dawn Broome and her husband Stephen of Waynesville, MO; six sisters: Ruth Walters of Richland, MO, Betty Cochran of Iberia, MO, Georgia Zeigenbein of Waynesville, MO, Janie Lee and Rosie Taylor both of Enoree, SC and Peggy Wilson of Swedeborg, MO; four brothers: Clarence Zeigenbein of Waynesville, MO, James Zeigenbein of Campbellsburg, IN and Ted and Lewis Zeigenbein both of Richland, MO; six grandchildren: Erin Jo, Kayla Marie, Allison, Heather, Zachariah and Trevenn; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one sister: Evelyn Poucher.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 18, 2005 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Skinner officiating. Recordings of the songs "Lord I Hope This Day Is Good, "Making Memories of Us, "He Gets That From Me and "Amazing Grace were played. Serving as escorts were Pat Fincher, Ron Todd, Randy Walters, Rick Zeigenbein, Sam Zeigenbein and Tim Zeigenbein. Serving as honorary escorts were James Poulson, Wesley Poulson and Frank Zeigenbein.

Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery near Crocker, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

JOHN ERNEST LEEPER, 1926-1990

The funeral of John Ernest Leeper, 74, of rural Dixon, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Burial with military honors will be at 1 p.m. in the Springfield National Cemetery.

Mr. Leeper, a retired U. S. Army Specialist E-5, died Sunday, August 12, 1990 at his home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

Survivors include three brothers, James of Imperial MI, Loren of Sturgeon MI, and Glenn of Delton MI; one sister, Irene Whitehall of Hillsboro NM, and several nieces and nephews.

FRANK H. RICHARDSON, 1906-1990

Frank H. Richardson, 84, of Springfield, died in his home on Saturday, Sept. 8, 1990. He was born in Hancock MO on Aug. 20, 1906, the son of Alva and Kittie Sewell Richardson.

He was raised on his parents' farm in Hancock and lived in Dixon until 1927 when he moved to Granite City IL, where he retired from the Commonwealth Steel company, and moved to Springfield in 1973.

He was baptized in the First Christian Church in Dixon, was a WWII veteran, and a member of the VFW in Granite City IL.

Mr. Richardson is survived by his two sisters, Evelyn Richardson and Blanche Reimers of Springfield; 7 nephews, Bill Reimers and Robin Richardson, both of Florida; Floyd, Charles, and Jim Richardson, all of St. Louis; and David and John Richardson of Mississippi; a niece, Mrs. Helen Hanff of Moscow Mills; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Richardson of Wentzville; great nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Wayne, Floyd, Claude, William, and Charlie.

Graveside services were held in the Dixon Cemetery on Monday, Sept 10, 1990, at 2 p.m., with Jehovah's Witness minister Rodney Moulder officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Riemers, John Richardson, Johnnie Logue, Bob Hanff, Charles Richardson, and Dorsey Sooter. Services were under the direction of Long Funeral Home of Dixon.

Vivian Keeth 1919-1990

Vivian Keeth, daughter of Elisha and Mamie (Fordyce) Ledbetter, was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Sioux City IA and departed this life Sept. 21, 1990, in Springfield MO at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 30 days.

On Sept. 30, 1936, she was united in marriage with Loran Keeth, and to this union were born three daughters, all surviving.

As a young girl, Vivian professed her faith in Christ and at the time of her death was a member of the Richland First Baptist Church.

Those surviving include her husband, Loran, of the home; three daughters, Pat Wilson of Stoutland, Shirley Shaffer of Halfway, and Edna Aumann, of Pevely; a brother, Sherrill Ledbetter, of Valley Park; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Ernest and Clarence Ledbetter; and 3 sisters, Effie Angove, Edna West, and Goldie Setser.

Services were held at the First Baptist Church on Monday, Sept. 24, 1990, with Rev. Mike Hawkins officiating. Soloist was David Hicks and pianist was Marlene Brown. Interment was at the Crocker Memorial Cemetery.

Escorts were Rollins Howlett, Gary Brown, Charles Tharpe, Olan Gilbert, Ivy Powers and Pete Wilson. Honorary escorts were Deacons of Richland First Baptist Church and Adult Three Sunday School.

Services were under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel.

HENRY JACKSON BREEDEN, 1913-1990

Henry Jackson Breeden, 77, of rural Dixon, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 1990, at Rolla. The son of Joseph Andrew Breeden and Mary Elizabeth (Crum) Breeden, he was born in Vienna MO on May 2, 1913.

Mr. Breeden lived in the Vienna area throughout his childhood. He left Vienna in 1942 during WWII, when he joined the U. S. Army. He received his discharge in 1946, having attained the rank of Master Sergeant.

On July 3, 1943, in Brownwood TX he married Gladys Hutchison. In 1951, the couple moved to Waynesville where he worked at IGA until 1976. For the past several years he has worked at Jim's Market on Highway 28.

Mr. Breeden was a member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church, the Dixon American Legion, and the Waynesville/St. Robert Senior Citizens. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Randall and Mary Breeden of Lenexa KS; one brother, Leonard Breeden of Rolla; 6 sisters, Irene Nelson and Lavon Nelson, both of Vienna, Louise Crancer of Farmington, Mary Ann Robertson of Winfield, May Haynes of St. James, and Helen Finn of Rolla; and two step-grandchildren, Amy Karst and Andrew Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Breeden.

funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Lee Porch officiating. Serving as escorts were David Dodds, Wayne Howery, Gene Stockdale, Gregg Stockdale, Kenny Stockdale and Randy Yocum. Honorary escorts were Jim Dodds, Byron Eldridge, Floyd Mooney and Floyd Stockdale.

Burial was in the Vienna City Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel. A memorial has been established to Waynesville United Methodist Church in the name of Henry Breeden.

REVEREND EDWIN E. BAUR, 1893-1990

Edwin E. Baur, 97, died at 10.45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 1990 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. He was born in the town of Drake, Gasconade County, MO, the son of Gottfried J. and Mary Oberg Baur, on Jan. 6, 1893.

On March 25, 1915, at Rosebud MO, he married Mamie Shockley. She preceded him in death in Sept. of 1982.

Rev. Baur is survived by 6 children, Rev. John Baur and his wife Jessie of Mansfield MO, Mildred Steimke of St. Peters PA, Fern Palmer of Rolla, Dorothy Martin of Springfield, Eileen Alverson and Naomi Eads, both of Kansas City MO; a sister-in-law Rosalee Baur; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Henry, and 3 sisters, Frieda Shockley, Verena Shockley and Flora Copeland.

Rev. Baur helped organize a church which eventually became First Baptist Church of Union.

The First Baptist Church of Dixon first called Rev. Baur to be its pastor in 1931. He retired from this church in 1964, after having left and been called back two times. He served there a total of 33 years.

In addition to Dixon and Union, he served as pastor to other Missouri Baptist Churches, including those at Cuba, Elsberry, Nevada, and Lockwood. After his "retirement," he pastored at Jerome and Gasconade and served as interim at others.

Rev. Baur served the Dixon Board of Education, the Pulaski County Red Cross Board, and the local PTA. He also served for ten years as moderator and 16 years as assistant moderator of the Pulaski County Baptist Association. He was a Mason and had received his fifty year Masonic pin.

Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church in Dixon on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1990 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Ed Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the Dixon Cemetery. Serving as his escorts were grandsons, and honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the First Baptist Church. Arrangements were under the direction of the Long Funeral Home of Dixon.

WILLIAM ROBERT WALTERS, 1950-1990

William Robert Walters was born on June 15, 1950, the son of Louis and Lorraine Walters, and passed away on Saturday, Aug 18, 1990 in Columbia. He had attained the age of 40 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crocker, being baptized on Oct. 14, 1962. He graduated from Crocker High School in 1968 and attended the Forrest Part Community College in St. Louis and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.

He had been employed by the State of Missouri Revenue Department, St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas TX, and at the time of his death was working at the Lodge of the Four Seasons at the Lake. He enjoyed collecting antiques when he had the time.

He is survived by his parents, Louis and Lorraine Walters of Crocker and his sister Carolyn Dalrymple and Gene Dalrymple of Ennes TX, other relatives and friends.

He will be sorely missed by all.

HELEN M. COUNTS, 1916-1990

Helen M. Counts, 73, died Friday, Sept. 21,1990, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. She was born in Staten Island NY on Oct. 19, 1916, the daughter of Kurt and Jeannie Murray Andersen.

She married Woodrow Counts on April 5, 1942 in Staten Island NY. She and her husband moved to Dixon in March 1990.

Mrs. Counts is survived by her husband Woodrow of Dixon; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Floyd and Fran Stokes of Dixon; two brothers, Walter and Kenneth Andersen of NY; Shirley York and Rachael and Missy Stokes of Dixon.

Graveside services were held in the Dixon Cemetery on Monday, Sept. 24, 1990, at 1.00 p.m., with Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating. Services were under the direction of the Long Funeral Home of Dixon.

James William Armstromg, 1913-1990

James William Armstrong, son of Charles and Ida Belden Armstrong, was born August 16, 1913, in Stoutland MO and departed this life on August 15, 1990, in Springfield at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 30 days.

He was united in marriage with Laura "Tish" Howell in March of 1952.

He is survived by several cousins as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one step-son.

Services were held at the Stoutland Methodist Church on Friday, Aug. 17, 1990, with the Rev. Curtis Wilson officiating. Soloist was Vicky Pentecost and organist was DeLores Shadel. Interment was at the Stoutland Cemetery.

Escorts were Bob Wright, George Perkins, Clyde Gideon, Jr., J. R. Lankford, Richard Shaha and Jennings Allee.

Services were under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

IDA MAE NORTON 1924-1990

Ida Mae Norton, 65, died Tuesday September 25, 1990, in Niangua. She was born in Bolivar MO on Nov. 11, 1924, the daughter of Charles and Stella Riddle Altic.

She married Harold Norton, who preceded her in death,, on Jan. 18, 1978.

Mrs. Norton is survived by two daughters, Katherine Miller of Niangua and Judy Wells of Mulkwanago WI; one son, Tom Norton of Dixon; one sister, Grace Breeden of Kansas City, KS; one brother, Bennie Altic of Republic; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Home in Dixon on Friday, Sept. 28, 1990 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donald Hazlewood and Charles Cunningham officiating, Service as her pallbearers were John and James Stokes, Lee Lawson, Wayne Brandt, Eddie Smith and Marvin Hunter.
