William Claude Wagner 1925-2005

William Claude Wagner, son of the late William Edmund and Lennie C. (Schultz) Wagner, was born December 27, 1925 in Trebune, Pulaski County, Missouri where he grew up and attended school.

William served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged for his faithful service.

On March 2, 1995, William was united in marriage to Opal Lee Morrow in Miami, Oklahoma. They shared over 10 years together and many happy memories.

William was a self-employed truck driver. He was an old fashioned person, where he believed that people should be hard working, which he was. More than anything, he enjoyed talking and visiting with family and friends. He was a great storyteller. Whether the stories were true or not, one would have to guess.

William passed away the morning of Wednesday, May 18, 2005 in his home at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 21 days.

William will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his wife, Opal of the home; four sons: Dale Wagner of Springfield, MO, Gary Wagner of the State of Illinois and Michael and Terry Wagner, both of St. Louis, MO; two daughters: Sherri Pruss of Palm Dale, CA and Gloria Mitchell of San Diego, CA; one sister: Lettie Mae Williams of Crocker, MO; one brother Marion Wagner of Denver, CO; three grandchildren; several other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by three sisters: Dora Kinnaird, Emma Gaddy and Opal Phillips, and four brothers: Floyd, John, Ben & Vic Wagner.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 20 at Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Breeden officiating. "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" were played. Dave Gaddy, Elster Kinnaird, Dale Lemp, Marion and Tom Wagner and Bill Willoughby served as escorts.

Burial followed in Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery, with the U.S. Navy providing military honors. Services were under direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Hilda Faye (Wieners) Vogt 1920-2008

Hilda Faye Vogt, daughter of Joseph (Joe) and Annie Wieners, was born on April 29, 1920 in Hooker, Missouri. She departed this life at 7:40 A.M. Thursday, June 12, 2008 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla, Missouri at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 14 days.

As a young girl, Hilda attended Bloodland School on Fort Leonard Wood and later graduated from Waynesville High School in Waynesville.

At an early age, Hilda made a profession of faith and attended the Gospel Ridge Baptist Church of St. Robert. In her later years, she attended the Pentecostal Church in Waynesville, Missouri with her mother.

On June 26, 1941, Hilda was united in marriage to Cleve Vogt and to this union three children were born: Sharon, Judy and Gary.

Hilda was employed for many years with the Waynesville School System as a cook and she retired from the school system. In her spare time, she loved to quilt and work crossword puzzles and watch television.

Hilda leaves to cherish her memory her three children: Sharon Senovich of Waynesville, MO; Judy Keys and her husband Donald of Richland, MO and Gary Vogt of Monett, MO; two sisters: Dorothy Coogan and Clara Williams, both of Waynesville, MO; four brothers: Howard Wieners and his wife Ruth and Lester Wieners and his wife Delores, all of Kansas City, MO, Darold Wieners and his wife Zella of Waynesville, MO and Clarence Wieners and his wife Judy of Laquey, MO; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers: Willie and Ersie Wieners.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 16, 2008 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Christopher Hendrix officiating. Pianist Neil Lewis accompanied himself and Zella Wieners as they sang "Come Spring" and "Remind Me Dear Lord". Serving as escorts were John Senovich, Sam Senovich, Corey Keys, Dean Keys and Donnie Keys.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

David Paul Van De Venter 1942-2008

David Paul Van De Venter, the only child born to the union of William Paul and Wilma Jean (Hudson) Van De Venter, was born August 25, 1942 in Springfield, Missouri.

He departed this life the morning of October 18, 2008 at St. Johns Regional Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 23 days.

The Van De Venter family lived in the Mtn. Grove, Missouri area until David was in the 6th grade. They moved to Laquey, Missouri where he finished school and graduated from Waynesville High School in 1960.

When he was a young man, David accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church.

On October 23, 1960 in Waynesville, David married Marcella Faye Coogan. He and Marcella shared nearly 48 years of marriage and two daughters: Roxanne and infant Vickie Lynn Van De Venter.

David was a civil service employee for many years working as a civilian personnel clerk at Ft. Leonard Wood. He not only enjoyed woodworking, but was a true craftsman. He loved watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, but not nearly as much as watching his grandson, Chris play baseball and basketball. He never missed a game.

David was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his wife: Marcella; his mother: Wilma Van De Venter of Waynesville; one daughter: Roxanne Hendrix and her husband, Buzz, one grandson: Chris Hendrix and his wife, Sara all of Laquey and many other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father: William Paul Van De Venter and his infant daughter, Vickie Lynn Van De Venter.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Brown officiating. Pianist Neil Lewis accompanied Soloist Zella Wieners as she sang In the Garden and Amazing Grace. Serving as escorts were Calvin York, Josh Nickels, Clarence Wieners, Darold Wieners, Don Woods and Van McCoy. Serving as honorary escorts were Gary Nickels, Charlie Eickhorst, Norman Stoll and Terry McCoy.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Temple Wayne Vaught 1910-2007

Temple Wayne Vaught was born May 17, 1910 in Richland, Missouri. He was one of five children born to the union of the late Marion Henderson and Matilda Ann (Warner) Vaught.

After graduating from Richland High School, Temple went on to earn degrees from the Missouri State Teachers College and Drury. He taught for 13 years at the Deerlick School in Pulaski County.

On June 21, 1940 in Springfield, Temple was united in marriage with Edna Aileen Tyler. Temple and Edna shared nearly 67 years of wonderful memories together.

Temple took a position as an accountant in the general records office at the Pentagon where he worked for 14 years. He actually wrote the last check which paid off the Pentagon construction expenses. He later transferred to the National Archives. It was while working in this position that his job took him on several trips to Japan. He enjoyed bringing Edna Japanese treasures he would find.

Temple accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and made his profession of faith when he was a young boy. He attended the Deerlick Baptist Church.

Temple passed away the evening of February 4, 2007, at Doctors Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 96 years, 8 months and 18 days.

He was very dearly loved, and will be sadly missed by his wife, Edna of the home; one nephew: Bob Wilson and his wife, Meredith of Iberia, MO; one great-niece: Seena Oragood of the state of Virginia; one great-nephew: Tommy Foster of the state of Georgia; other relatives, friends and neighbors. He will also be greatly missed by his dog, Tara.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in the Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. Pianist Becky Lercher played "In The Garden" and "In The Sweet By & By". Serving as escorts were family and friends.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert.

John Turner Thompson 1922-2007

John Turner Thompson, son of the late Bud Turner and Mattie (Frazier) Thompson, was born August 12, 1922 in Dade City, Florida where he grew up and attended school. John accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a young age and was baptized.

As a young man, John enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his retirement after 29 years of service. He had attained the rank of First Sergeant.

On May 6, 1947, John was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Frances Coleman in Dade City, Florida. They shared over 59 years of marriage together and were blessed with two children: Rita and John, Jr.

After retiring from the Army, John enrolled at Rolla Technical College and Waynesville Vocational Technical School, completing carpentry programs and began working as a carpenter for several years. As a young man, he was a prize fighter. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. He liked to watch boxing, playing the lottery, and music. He loved to sing and play the harmonica. Most importantly, he treasured the times that he could spend visiting with his family and friends.

John passed away the morning of Tuesday, April 17, 2007 in the University of Missouri Hospital & Clinics in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 5 days.

John will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his wife, Mary Thompson of the home; one daughter: Rita Thompson-Owens of St. Robert, MO; one sister: Maggie Gordon of Zephyrhills, FL; one brother: Willie Thompson of Dade City, FL; 2 grandchildren: Buffye Owens Balk of Jefferson City, MO and R. Chris Owens, Jr and his wife, Nikki of the state of Virginia; 4 great grandchildren: Justin Balk, Kimberly, Olivia and Chris Owens; special nephew: Leonard Gray of Dade City, FL; special friends: Mona and Billie Wilson of St. Robert, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters and his son: John, Jr. (1990).

Graveside services with military honors were held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 23, 2007 in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain (MAJ) Alex Brown officiating. Serving as escorts were Lee Coleman, Jr., Justin Balk, William Bastean, Clarence Palmer, Jr. and R. Chris Owens, Jr. Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert.

Opal Marie (Zeornes) Thomas 1921-2004

Opal Marie Thomas, daughter of the late John and Viola (Workman) Zeornes, was born October 11, 1921 in Concordia, Kansas where she grew up and attended school.

On November 19, 1944, Opal was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Thomas.

A graveside service was held at 3:00 PM Monday, June 21, 2004 in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Layne Lercher read Psalm 23 and Randy Walters read Psalm 100. Soloist Becky Lercher sang "Amazing Grace" and the Lords Prayer was prayed.

Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Jason Saipan Te'o 1982-2009

Jason Saipan Te'o was born in Berlin, Germany US ARMY Hospital, where his family was stationed in the Berlin Brigade US Army Europe, on August 17, 1982. He left Germany when he was three years old and started pre-school at Pence on Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri when he was 5.

Jason was a graduate of Dixon High School, where he was awarded a football scholarship from Missouri Valley College. He decided to discontinue college and seek employment, when his knee injury was not allowing him to continue football.

He worked in several jobs, but his passion was in music. He worked as a DJ and a manager for a night club and another job during the day. He enjoyed video games online, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, music, parties, surfing, and motorcycles.

Jason passed away at 1:18 AM Sunday, November 15, 2009 in the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 27 years.

Jason is survived by his parents: Saipan and Dareen Te'o of Waynesville, MO; maternal grandmother: Betty Rush of Waynesville, MO; one daughter: Savannah Rose Taylor of Jefferson City, MO; one brother; Manu Te'o and one sister: Andrea Te'o, both of Waynesville, MO; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 21, 2009 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert with Chaplain (MAJ) John Sutton officiating. June Leoso read Psalm 23 and Cdr. MCPO (Ret) Francis Nikolao read Romans 8:31-39. Jasons' brother Manu Te'o read the obituary and his father, Saipan Te'o recalled his wonderful memories of his son. Several family member and friends recalled their wonderful memories of Jason. Pianist Becky Lercher accompanied the congregation as they sang "Amazing Grace". Jason's family sang a traditional Samoan Hymn, "Lo Otanu'u". Serving as escorts were Manu Te'o, Erik Thorsen, Phaniel Richard, Niko Falaniko, Mac Gaono, Dewayne Clark, and Tommy Rush.

Gladys Opal (Bell) Talbot 1909-2011

Gladys Talbot, 102, of Lebanon, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Lebanon.

She was born May 3, 1909 to Robert A. and Della Adams Bell at Brownfield, Missouri.

On February 9, 1930, Gladys was united in marriage with Charles W. Talbot and they enjoyed sixty-three happy years together. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Rowland and Pershing Bell; three sisters, Jewell Krauss, Florene Bell and Virginia Woody; a son-in-law, Edward Tichacek; and a daughter, Charla Talbot Bennett.

Gladys graduated from Southwest Missouri State University and taught school six years at Waynesville High School and nineteen years at Lebanon Jr. High School.

She joined the Methodist Church at an early age and was active in youth work many years. She was a member of the Builders Class and Morning Joy Circle.

Her hobby was making quilts and she was an avid Cardinal baseball fan. Gladys also enjoyed her bridge clubs and fishing with her husband.

Survivors include her daughter, Gayla Tichacek; three grandsons, Brandt Tichacek and his wife Adria, Eddie Tichacek and his wife Jennifer, all of St. Louis, MO and Baron Bennett and his wife Leanne of Indianapolis; also surviving is a son-in-law, Thomas Bennett of Bowling Green, OH; two granddaughters, Mikelyn Kiefer and her husband Gregory and Brooke Bennett; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Gladys was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother, and cherished friend. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her will treasure every memory. Our loss was Heaven's gain.

Funeral services for Gladys Talbot will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Shadel's Colonial Chapel with Pastor David Scott officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Waynesville City Cemetery, under the direction of Shadel's Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.

Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral chapel.

A memorial has been established to St. John's Hospice.

Beverly A. (Holman) Talbot 1951-2011

Beverly A. Talbot, daughter of the late Floyd and Mila Holman, was born April 29, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. At an early age, Beverly’s mother passed away and she was raised by her loving grandmother Alma Holman. She grew up in the Bennett Springs, Missouri area and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1969. As a young girl, Beverly was a member of the Pine Creek Baptist Church.

Beverly met the love of her life, Basil Franklin “Bill” Talbot. They were united in marriage on September 2, 2005 at their home in Falcon, Missouri. They shared over 30 years together and many wonderful memories.

Beverly was a hardworking woman and was privileged to spend most of her working years as a stay at home mom and housewife. She loved taking care of her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, playing games on the computer and most importantly, spending time with her family and friends.

Beverly passed away at 12:05 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 in the Christian Health Care – South of Lebanon, Missouri having attained the age of 60 years, 3 months and 28 days.

Beverly will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Basil Talbot of the home; four children: Sandra Glasser (Mark) of Lebanon, MO, Tracy Lewis of Falcon, MO, Sherry Smith of Rolla, MO and John Talbot (Orissa) of Dixon, MO; four brothers: Pepper Guthrie of Windyville, MO, Jerry Guthrie of Conway, MO, Donald Guthrie of the state of Californa and Joe Holman of Bennett Springs, MO; eight grandchildren: Basil and Stephanie Hironimus, Cody Lewis, Chelsea and Alaina Smith and Roxie, John and Hannah Talbot; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her grandmother, Alma Holman.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Shannon Lewis officiating. The songs “Goodbyes (The Saddest Word)”, “Go Rest High on that Mountain”, “One Day at a Time” and “Amazing Grace” were played. Serving as escorts were Tracy Gibson, Shannon Jackson, Dennis Ray, Dean Warren, Jerry Jackson and Billy Skidmore. Serving as honorary escorts were Dwight Jackson, Mark Glasser and Bob Yount.

Burial followed in the Idumea Cemetery of Laquey, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.

Nellie Lena (Swofford) Wall 1911-2006

Nellie Lena Wall, daughter of the late Harvey and Mary (Peoples) Swofford, was born June 29, 1911 in Brumley, Missouri where she grew up and attended school. As a young girl, Nellie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour and was baptized.

On March 24, 1936, Nellie was united in marriage to Claude Wall and they were blessed with two daughters: Alice and Evelyn.

Nellie worked hard to provide for her family. She was employed as a Civil Service employee in the laundry facility and retired from there after 22 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed working outside in her gardens, sewing and reading different books, but especially her Bible. She attended the First Christian Church in Waynesville until her health permitted her from doing so.

Nellie went home to be with her Lord at 4:27 P.M. in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 95 years, 2 months and 10 days.

Nellie will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by her two daughters: Evelyn Keen of Waynesville, MO and Alice Teubner of Lebanon, MO; one brother: Harold Wayne Swofford of Stover, MO; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husband; one brother: Roy Swofford; an infant sister; and one grandson: Kevin Cassidy.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 12, 2006 in the Memorial Chapel of Waynesville with Virgil White officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang "Amazing Grace and "How Great Thou Art. Serving as escorts were Brian Keen, Brandon, John, Brian, Ronnie and Trenton Teubner. Serving as honorary escorts were Roger and Steve Teubner and Donald Keen.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert.
