Temple Wayne Vaught 1910-2007

Temple Wayne Vaught was born May 17, 1910 in Richland, Missouri. He was one of five children born to the union of the late Marion Henderson and Matilda Ann (Warner) Vaught.

After graduating from Richland High School, Temple went on to earn degrees from the Missouri State Teachers College and Drury. He taught for 13 years at the Deerlick School in Pulaski County.

On June 21, 1940 in Springfield, Temple was united in marriage with Edna Aileen Tyler. Temple and Edna shared nearly 67 years of wonderful memories together.

Temple took a position as an accountant in the general records office at the Pentagon where he worked for 14 years. He actually wrote the last check which paid off the Pentagon construction expenses. He later transferred to the National Archives. It was while working in this position that his job took him on several trips to Japan. He enjoyed bringing Edna Japanese treasures he would find.

Temple accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and made his profession of faith when he was a young boy. He attended the Deerlick Baptist Church.

Temple passed away the evening of February 4, 2007, at Doctors Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 96 years, 8 months and 18 days.

He was very dearly loved, and will be sadly missed by his wife, Edna of the home; one nephew: Bob Wilson and his wife, Meredith of Iberia, MO; one great-niece: Seena Oragood of the state of Virginia; one great-nephew: Tommy Foster of the state of Georgia; other relatives, friends and neighbors. He will also be greatly missed by his dog, Tara.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in the Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. Pianist Becky Lercher played "In The Garden" and "In The Sweet By & By". Serving as escorts were family and friends.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert.
