Robert Davis Holdren 1907-1986

Robert Davis Holdren, 79, of Baring, Missouri, passed away Wednesday morning, November 26, at his home in Baring.

The son of William Robert and Martha Ellen Sellers Holdren, he was born October 10, 1907 in Camden County, Missouri.

On April 27, 1932 at Richland, Missouri he married Marie Mitschele and she preceded him in death on December 20, 1984.

He is survived by four sons: William John, and Joseph Alva all of Baring, Missouri and Jack Holdren of Omaha, Nebraska; three daughters: Mrs. Dale (Shirley) Mesecher of Burlington, Iowa, Mrs. John (Lenora) Flynn of Edina, Missouri, Mrs. Clinton (Mary Lou) Jerome of Eureka, Missouri; two sisters: Mrs. Hadley (Ruth) Deberry and Mrs. Clyde (Alice) Eakens both of Richland, Missouri, 24 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Joyce Flynn; two great grandsons, Heath Forquer, James Patrick Kiley and three sisters: Eunice Curtis, Gladys Traw, and Edith Goforth.

Mr. Holdren was reared in Camden County and resided there until 1947 when he and his wife moved to the Memphis area.  They had been residents of Baring since 1953.  Mr. Holdren had been employed in farm related activities until his retirement.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m., November 29, 1986 in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, Missouri with the Rev. Archie Cooper of Kirksville, Missouri officiating.

Music was provided by Sandra Browning, singing “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beyond the Sunset”, Carol Hayes organist.

Casket bearers were: Kelly Holdren, Keven Holdren, Larry Forquer, Jim Kiley, Terry Hunolt, Terry Forquer and Stephen Jerome.

Burial was in the Slocum Cemetery west of Greensburg, Missouri.

Mary Edith (Holdren) Goforth 1905-1985

Mary Edith Goforth was born November 28, 1905 to William and Ellen Sellers Holdren in Camden County, Missouri, and departed this life at her home in Richland, Missouri, April 30, 1985. At the time of her passing she had attained the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 2 days.

She taught school two years prior to her marriage. In 1924 she accepted Christ as her personal saviour and was baptized at Glover Chapel Church of Christ and has remained faithful to her church.

On October 2, 1926 she was united in marriage to Paul Goforth and to this union was born three children.

Edith and her husband lived all their married life on their farm until five years ago when they moved to Richland to make their home.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, an infant daughter, Lois Jean, three sisters, Gladys Traw, Eunice Curtis, and an infant sister, Eva Mae, one infant brother, and one grandson, James Allen Goforth.

Survivors include her husband Paul of the home, two sons, James W. of Richland and Charles Paul of Linn Creek; one brother, Robert Holdren of Baring, Missouri; two sisters, Alice Eaken and Ruth Deberry, both of Richland; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the Colonial Funeral Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 1985 with W.M. Stanley, minister officiating.

Music was by the Church of Christ singers and Jim and Mary Ann Roberts.

Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Chapel.

Vera Marie Holdren 1914-1984

Vera Marie Holdren, 70, of Baring, passed away at her residence, Thursday morning, December 20, 1984.

The daughter of Harve and Myrtle Greenstreet Mitschele, she was born April 10, 1914 in Camden County, Missouri.

On April 27, 1932 in Camden County she married Robert Davis Holdren.

She is survived by her husband: Robert of Baring; her mother of Crocker, Missouri; four sons: William Holdren, John Holdren, Joe Holdren all of Baring and Jack Holdren of Omaha, Nebraska; three daughters: Mrs. Dale (Shirley) Mesecher of Burlington, Iowa, Mrs. John (Lea) Flynn of Edina and Mrs. Clinton (Mary Lou) Jerome of Eureka, Missouri; two brothers, Phillip Mitschele of Richland, and John Mitschele of Sherman, Texas; two sisters: Miss Pauline Mitschele and Mrs. Robert (Edith) Frazier both of Crocker, Missouri; 24 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, one brother, Tom Mitschele; a granddaughter, Joyce Lynn Flynn and a great grandson Heth Forquer.

Mr. and Mrs. Holdren moved from Camden County, Missouri to the Memphis area in 1947 and later moved to Baring in 1953. She had been employed by the Office of Economics Opportunity and the Nutrition Center in Edina for several years before working with the Baring Senior Citizens Housing Agency.

She was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church of Richland, Missouri.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 22, 1984, 2:00 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, Missouri with the Rev. Archie Cooper of Kirksville officiating.

Burial was in the Slocum Cemetery, west of Greensburg, Missouri.

Escorts were: Kelly Holdren, Kevin Holdren, Terry Hunolt, Bob Delaney, Jim Kiley, and Dirk Patton.

Gladys T. (Holdren) Traw 1899-1984

Gladys T. Traw, daughter of William and Ellen Sellers Holdren, was born October 18, 1899 in Richland, Missouri, and passed away suddenly March 16, 1984 in Richland, Missouri, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 29 days.

Gladys accepted Christ as her personal saviour, was baptized, and became a member of Glover Chapel Church of Christ when a young woman, and has remained faithful to her church until her death.

Prior to her marriage, she taught school in the local area.

On March 8, 1922 she was united in marriage to Hooker Traw, and to this union was born 1 daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, Eva Holdren and Eunice Curtis.

Those left to mourn her passing are 1 daughter, Mary Ann Roberts, DeSoto, Missouri; 1 brother, Robert Holdren of Baring, Missouri; 3 sisters, Edith Goforth, Ruth DeBerry, and Alice Eaken all of Richland. Missouri; 3 grandchildren, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Services for Gladys T. Traw were held at Colonial Funeral Chapel 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 19, 1984. Officiating at the services was Evangelist W.J. Stanley. Music was provided by the Church of Christ Singers, DeSoto, Missouri. Burial was in the Glover Chapel Cemetery. Escorts were: Claude Hickey, Ronnie Powell, Jack Richardson, Tommy Tabor, Doug Burton, and Jess Ballinger. Under direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels of Richland, Missouri.
