Mervin M. Brown 1904-1985

Mervin M. Brown, age 80, of Roby, Missouri, was born September 9, 1904 in Bloodland, Missouri, a son of Franklin Belle Brown and Mary Alice (Hullett) Brown. He passed away February 22, 1985 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri.

As a young man he was a school teacher at Cookville, Missouri and later at Butler Brothers in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a veteran of World War II.

On August 21, 1943 he married Charlotte Frances Massler of St. Louis, Missouri. In 1949 they moved to Roby where he farmed and worked at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He retired in 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; three sisters, Mildred Pitts, Golda Shaffer, and Sylvia Maxon, all of Roby, Missouri; three brothers, Earnest Brown of Roby, Eugene Brown of Kansas City, Missouri, and Dale Brown of Smithville, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 24, 1985 at 2:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gene Barnett officiating.

Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Music was furnished by organist Marjorie Link.

Pallbearers were Farris Delcour, Jim Hildebrand, Dewey Smith, Ott Mace, Andy (Chub) Johnson, and Ervin Earp.

Edna M. (Brown) O’Quinn 1903-1984

Edna M. O’Quinn, age 81 of Diamond City, Arkansas, was born a daughter of Franklin Belle Brown and Mary Alice (Hullett) Brown on February 12, 1903 in Bloodland, Missouri, and she departed this life June 13, 1984 at the University Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri.

She was a school teacher in the Bloodland area before her marriage to Lloyd Chester O’Quinn. She resided many years in the West des Moines area and upon retirement, moved to Diamond City, Arkansas. While living there she was a member of Lead Hill Christian Church.

She is survived by three sisters: Mildred Pitts, Golda Shaffer, and Sylvia Maxon all of Roby, Missouri; four brothers: Mervin and Ernest Brown of Roby, Missouri, Dale Brown of Smithville, Missouri, and Eugene Brown of Kansas City, Missouri; one foster daughter: Lynda Young of Independence, Missouri; and one foster son: Terry Brown of Kansas City, Missouri.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, June 16, 1984 at 10:00 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Virgil White officiating. Services were under direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Those serving as Pallbearers were family members.
