Opal Alice (Harris) Kays 1908-1986

Opal Alice Kays, daughter of Allen and Elsie McDaniel Harris, was born on March 22, 1908 in Pulaski County, and departed this life September 20, 1986 at her home, at the age of seventy eight years.

On December 22, 1933, she was united in marriage with John Kays, and to this union was born one son, who survives.

Opal taught school for many years in Pulaski County schools.

In 1950 she transferred her membership from the Union Church in Hazelgreen to the Independence Baptist Church, where she has remained a very faithful and active member.  She served as church secretary and treasurer for many years.

Opal was a lovely Christian lady, who was willing to help a neighbor or friend in need.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 23, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Hamilton and Rev. Raymond McClary officiating.

Resting Place was in the Hazelgreen Cemetery.

Escorts were: Fred Wilson, Virgil Shelton, Keith Lundh, Mayfield Wilson, Jesse Elam and Larry Ogle.

Those surviving include her son John Earl Kays and his wife Barbara of Richland; one sister Bessie Murrell of Richland; two grandchildren Kent and Sherrie; as well as other relatives and a host of many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Edna Bosel; one brother, Lynn Harris and an infant brother.

Joseph Frank Kays 1908-1983

Services for Joseph Frank Kays were held at Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 1983. Officiating at the services were Rev. Oakley Herring and Rev. Own Raney. Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist, DeLores Shadel, organist. Burial was in the Hazelgreen Cemetery.

Escorts were: Hugh McClure Jr., Larry Calkin, Johnny Lamm Jr., John Earl Kays, Paul Brown, Raymond Garbee. Honorary escorts were: Travis Jeter, Chester Woody, Clarence Smith, Leslie Sanders, Robert Woody, Rick Richmond. Under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels of Richland, Missouri.

Joseph Frank Kays, son of William and Elvah Houston Kays, was born August 1, 1908 at Horseshoe Bend, Missouri and departed this life November 27, 1983.

On November 5, 1935 he was united in marriage with Pauline Carter and to this union were born four sons, all surviving.

As a young man Frank professed his faith in Christ while attending a revival meeting at Berean Baptist Church. He later united with the Hazelgreen Methodist Church and Interstate 44. He has been employed by Britzman Lumber Company for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline of the home, four sons, Duane of Springfield, Missouri; Dwight of St. Louis, Missouri; Mike of Nixa, Missouri; and Jim of the home, three brothers: Tom, Richland, Missouri, George of St. Louis, Missouri, and Willie of Eldon, Missouri, seven sisters; Mrs. Tootsie Hawkins and Mrs. Ellen Gibson, both of Lebanon, Missouri, Mrs. Goldia Campbell, Richland, Missouri, Mrs. Bessie Maynard, Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Maggie Runyan, Van Nuys, California, Mrs. Anna Hogue, Farber, Missouri, and Mrs. Mayme Miller of Macks Creek, Missouri, also eleven grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Nellie, Sarah, and Effie, and one brother, Johnny.

Frank Kays was loved by his family and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
