William Taylor Noakes 1888-1897

This entry is from the J.J. Watts collection. John J. Watts hailed from Warren, Maine and moved to the northern Ozarks of Missouri sometime after the Civil War. He was a circuit-riding Baptist Minister and his territory covered Phelps, Pulaski, and Texas Counties and parts of Maries and Dent Counties. He established a cemetery, Watt’s Lawn, which is located 1 mile West of J Highway, near the Pulaski County-Phelps County line. This collection covers 1878-1912.
William Taylor Noakes, son of Elijah and Laura Arvel Belle Noakes, was born at Baldridge, Pulaski County, MO, Dec. 11, 1888 and died at the same place April 29, 1897 at 12:15 p.m., aged 8 ys, 4 ms, and 18 days. Service at the Trout Cemetery May 1, 1897 at 2 p.m., after which little Willie was laid at rest and a funeral sermon was preached at Baldridge Church Aug. 1, 1897 at 11 a.m. Sunday from Rev. 7X9 to 17. John Riley, son of Elijah and Laura A. Noakes, born in Pulaski Co., Jan'y 13th 1886, died same place, Nov. 29th 1889 at 10-50 p.m., aged 3 years 10 ms. and 16ds. Singing, Prayer and remarks at the Trout Cemetery by J.J. Watts, Dec. 2d 1889 at 2 p.m. A funeral discourse was preached at Baldridge Church with a brother on page 34. Father, Mother, 1 brother, and Grandmother survives.
