Luther E. Ransdall d. 31 March 1957

Luther E. Ransdall, 68, a retired carpenter of Waynesville, died in Waynesville General Hospital yesterday evening.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille, a son, William R. Ransdall, and a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Quesenberry, all of Waynesville.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Waynesville Methodist Church with the Rev. John Bolen officiating. Burial will be in Waynesville Memorial Cemetery directed by Hedges of Waynesville.

Carroll Eugene "Cookie" Cook 1935-2006

Carroll Eugene "Cookie" Cook, son of the late Leonard S. and Evelyn May (Ransdall) Cook, was born July 8, 1935 in the state of Kansas. As a young boy, Cookie and his family moved to the Waynesville, Missouri area where he attended school and graduated from Waynesville High School in 1953.

On January 9, 1954, Cookie was united in marriage to Vera Pitts. They shared over 52 years of marriage together and were blessed with four children: Rusty, Randy, Ron and Nora.

Cookie served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force for approximately fifteen years until his honorable discharge. After leaving the Air Force, he earned his barber's license and was a barber in several different locations before he and Vera started their own business. They opened Every Bloomin' Thing flower shop in Waynesville and operated the shop until their retirement in 1989.

In his spare time, Cookie enjoyed spending time with the Harley Owners Group-Ozark Mountain Chapter, Lebanon, Missouri and was also a member of the Shrine Club and the Francis J. Lynch VFW Post #3168 of Laquey, Missouri. Most importantly, he treasured the times that he could spend with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Cookie passed away passed away Friday, February 10, 2006 at Warrensburg Manor in Warrensburg, Missouri at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Cookie was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his wife, Vera, his mother, Evelyn Quesenberry of Warrensburg; two sons: Randy Cook of St. Louis and Ron Cook of Dallas, TX; one daughter: Nora Payne of Warrensburg; 10 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Cookie was preceded in death by one son: Rusty and his grandmother: Lucille Ransdall.

A graveside service was held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 15, 2006 in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Richard Breeden officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert.

William Russell Ransdall 1919-2009

December 4th, 1919 - July 6th, 2009

William Russell Ransdall was born December 4, 1919 in Augusta, Kansas to Luther and Lucille (Smith) Ransdall, and departed this life on the morning of July 6, 2009. Bill graduated high school in Augusta, Kansas. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp on December 23, 1940 and then transferred to the U.S. Air Force. Bill went to pilot school in Yuma, Arizona and fired the highest gunnery score ever recorded at that time, and his wings were so engraved. Bill attained rank of First Lieutenant and flew 76 combat missions in World War II as a fighter pilot in P40s and P47s. Bill was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force August 12, 1945. Bill settled in Waynesville, Missouri after the war and married Marjorie L. Roach, to this union one son was born, Billy Lee Ransdall. Bill guided fishing trips on the Gasconade River for the Pippin Place and cut stave bolts. Bill then founded Bill's Sporting Goods and owned and operated it for 27 years. He and his son then founded Bill L. Ransdall & Co., Inc. and had the barber concessions on Fort Leonard Wood and in Fort Riley, Kansas. In 1978, Bill and his son opened Ransdall Distributing and Recycling Co. and operated that business in Rolla for 25 years. Bill always enjoyed working, especially working on the family farm and taking care of the cattle. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying both hunting and fishing. Bill's favorite sport was turkey hunting with the calls that he made, he really enjoyed taking kids, novice hunters of all ages, to include a host of General Officers visiting and stationed at Fort Leonard Wood during spring turkey season. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Lucille Ransdall, his wife of 50 years, Marjorie Ransdall, one step-daughter, Jo Ann Carroll, and one sister, Evelyn Quesenberry. Bill is survived by his son, Bill Ransdall and wife, Pat; the grandchildren he loved, granddaughter LeAnne Kristek and husband, Charles, and granddaughter, Amy Breeden and husband, Kevin; six great grandchildren, Brennan, Eriq, Cati, and Grace Kristek, and Parker and Peyton Breeden all of Waynesville. Also surviving is one brother-in-law Robert Parker Roach of Springfield, MO. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends. At the deceased's request, there will be a private family service at a later date. Arrangements are under direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.
