Kathryn Rosetta (Shaw) Zepp 1922-2010

Kathryn Rosetta Zepp, of Crocker was born on December 29, 1922, at Crocker a daughter of Allen and Ova (Crews) Shaw and departed this life following a brief illness, on Thursday evening, July 28, 2010 in the St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Mrs. Zepp had attained the age of 87 years and 7 months.

Mrs. Zepp was united in marriage on August 17, 1952 to Harold Tobias Zepp who preceded her in death on January 21, 1996. In addition to her husband, Mrs Zepp was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Zepp on October 4, 2005; her parents; and two sisters, Glenna Pottinger and Christina (Toots) Peterson.

 Mrs. Zepp was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon later moved her membership to the First Baptist Church,Crocker. She had worked as a secretary for the REA; the Lumber Company in Dixon: The Crocker MFA and later retiring from the Crocker School systems as well as being a loving and devoted homemaker.

 Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs.Zepp include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Joyce Sullins, Crocker and Alan and Cindy Zepp, Dixon; one sister Marilyn Daughtery, Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren Carolyn( Mike), Dennis (Carol), Rick (Lori), Jessica (Judd), Amanda and Alana; seven great-grandchildren, Holli, Nathan (Haydee), Aaron (Amber), Erica (Trent), Ashley (Joe), Kate and Maci; five great-great-grandchildren, Isabel, Zoe, Ely, Laney and Carter; and many other relatives and friends.

 Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Zepp at 2:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon, August 1, 2010, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home, Crocker with Rev. Don Kabel, First Baptist Church, Crocker officiating. Rita Street provided appropriate musical selections for the service.

 Interment was in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Pallbearers for Mrs. Zepp were Mike Allen, Nathan Allen, Aaron Allen, Rick Ringer, Trent Harrison and Steve Shelton. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Carolyn Allen, Jessica Easterling, Amanda Zepp and Alana Zepp.

Charles Hugh Shaw 1925-1984

On September 26, 1925, a son, Charles Hugh Shaw, was born to Frederick Clay Shaw and Myrtle Mae (Sills) Shaw in Vici, Oklahoma. He received his grade school and high school education in Vici. Charles Hugh was an outdoor type young person who loved football, horses, and hunting. He finished high school in 1942. He was large for his age and had been called a 4-F or draft dodger since he was a junior in high school. He insisted that his parents sign the papers that would allow him to go into the Coast Guards after he finished high school. He served his country for three years,

Not long after he was discharged, Charles decided to attend Fayetteville Business College, where he met Virginia Hight. They were married June 1, 1947, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In August of that same year, Mr. and Mrs. Shaw entered college at New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico. Charles lettered in football all four years of college, worked ay a student job, was active in Rodeo Club, and made many close friends.

After he finished college he moved to Cincinnati, Arkansas to a farm, and he taught school and coached at Westville, Oklahoma. During the next five years he farmed, coached, and taught school at Siloam Springs, Arkansas and at Watts, Oklahoma.

In 1957 Mr. and Mrs. Shaw and their year old son, Charles Clay moved to Bloomfield, New Mexico where Charles worked in the oilfields, coached and taught six years. Soon after they moved back to New Mexico they had a daughter, Sheryl Ann.

In 1963 the family moved to Vici, Oklahoma where they coached and taught three years.

August 9, 1966 Mr. and Mrs. Shaw and family moved to Waynesville, Missouri where Coach Shaw was hired to coach football and track and teach boy’s P.E. at Fort Leonard Wood. Coach really enjoyed the young people he knew in this area. He also enjoyed fox hunting and raising cattle.

In 1961 Mr. Shaw made his public profession of faith and was baptized.

In 1966 Mr. Shaw’s father passed away. Mr. Shaw’s mother is still in Lincoln, Arkansas. He has one brother, Howard, who lives in El Paso, Texas. He leaves his wife, Virginia, of the home, his son. Charles Clay and family of Fort Scott, Kansas, his daughter, Sheryl Ann Hunter, of Joplin, Missouri, also three grandsons, one granddaughter, and many….

Mr. Shaw passed away October 7, 1984 at St. John’s Medical Center, in Springfield, Missouri following a short illness.

Probably everyone who knew Coach Shaw has heard him say, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” He lived that way.

Funeral services for “Coach” Charles Hugh Shaw, 59, of Rt. 2, Dixon, were held Tuesday evening, October 9, 1984 at 5:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Senior High School Gymnasium with Virgil White officiating and under the direction of the Waynesville…

George W. Shaw 1882 - 1906

He was a circuit-riding Baptist Minister and his territory covered Phelps, Pulaski, and Texas Counties and parts of Maries and Dent Counties. He established a cemetery, Watt’s Lawn, which is located 1 mile West of J Highway, near the Pulaski County-Phelps County line. This collection covers 1878-1912.

George W. Shaw was born in the City of Worms on the Rhine, Germany, Aug. 29th 1906 [sic] and died on Democrat Ridge, Nov. 24th 1906, at 11=30 a.m., aged 74 ys, 2 ms, & 25 ds. Burial at Watts Lawn, Nov. 26th 1906, at 2 p.m. Funeral service by Rev. Raynolds & Watts.
