Willa Dean Turner 1932-2011

Willa Dean Turner, of Dixon, was born on July 17, 1932, at Kansas City, Kansas, a daughter of George S. and Grace (Crook) Roudebush and departed this life at 1:55 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011, at her residence in Dixon. Mrs. Turner had been in failing health and had attained the age of 79 years, 4 months and 9 days. 

Mrs. Turner was united in marriage on May 4, 1957, at Kansas City, Kansas to James Glenn Turner and to this union four children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Turner was a graduate of Turner High School in Kansas City, Kansas. After graduation she went to work as a grain elevator operator at B.C. Grain Company. Following her marriage to Mr. Turner and the birth of her children, she was a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Turner include: her husband, Glenn Turner, of the home in Dixon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Cindy Turner, Dixon and Jeffrey and Lawree Turner, Waycross, Georgia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and Ray Prewett and Glenda and Bill Vanderfeltz, all of Jefferson City; her twin sister, Wilma Jean Koehler, Kansas City, Kansas; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Turner at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2011, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Helen Winters, Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, officiating. Three favorite selections, “Oh, Heaven”, “When He Reached Down His Hand For Me” and “He Will Remember Me” were played for the funeral service.

Interment was in the Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Turner were Bill Vanderfeltz, Ray Prewett, Darrell Alexander, Cole Vanderfeltz, Joseph Feick and Zachary Vanderfeltz.

Memorials are suggested by the family to the Phelps County Hospice with envelopes available at the office of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.

Jeptha “Jep” William Turner 1892-1982

Jeptha “Jep” William Turner 90, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday morning at Pulaski County Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be at the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel after 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Funeral services will be held Saturdays, November 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church Waynesville with Rev. Wilbur Harbaugh officiating.

Interment will be in the Colley Hollow Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

He was a long time farmer and carpenter in the Waynesville area and a member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Irene Carter, Laquey, Missouri and elsie Clift of Bryan, Texas, four sons, Theron Turner, Waynesville, Missouri, Bud Turner, Waynesville, Missouri, Edward Turner, Fort Worth, Texas, and Bill Turner, New York City, New York, two half brothers-Charles Turner, Richland, Missouri and Joe Turner, Springfield, Missouri, four half sisters-Emma Pennell, Richland, Missouri, Rosanna Moore, Springfield, Missouri, Jossie Johnson, Slater, Missouri and Pearl Turner, Millan, Missouri, 27 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Gerald C. "Jerry" Pulley, Jr. 1961-2009

Gerald C. "Jerry" Pulley, Jr., 47, of Dixon, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in his home from cancer.
Funeral is at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, in the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, with the Rev. Philip Honeycutt officiating. Burial with military honors is in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
Jerry was born Nov. 23, 1961, in Iola, Kan., the son of Gerald C. and Princess N.R. Turner Pulley, Sr. He graduated from Iola High School and joined the United States Army, which he made a career out of with the present rank of sergeant first class. He was a paratrooper and medic and served in the Granada Conflict and the Iraq War. He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood when he left active duty and joined the reserves.
On Jan. 3, 2003, Jerry married Kimberly Summerfield and they made their home in Dixon. He also worked for the Pulaski County Ambulance and Coastal International Security. He belonged to and participated in the activities of REACT which is a Pulaski County volunteer organization.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly, of the home; a son, Gerald C. Pulley III of Iola, Kan.; three stepdaughters from a previous marriage: Krystal, Sammie Joe and Alexis Torres of New York; two brothers: Ricky Pulley of Miami, Okla., and James Pulley of Parsons, Kan; three sisters: LaTanya Pulley of Missouri, Melinda Clark of Webb City, and Yolanda Pulley of Pittsburg, Kan.; a grandson and two step-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Stephanie Jennings.
Memorials are suggested to REACT, a Pulaski County volunteer organization.
Memorials may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is charge of arrangements.
