Joann Ernestine (Milligan) Hambrick 1934-2012

Joann Ernestine Hambrick, of Washington, Missouri, formerly of Dixon was born December 27, 1934, in Dixon, the daughter of Kenneth William and Guida Mae (Jackson) Milligan, and departed this life at 2:50 A.M., Saturday, January 14, 2012, in the New Haven Care Center, New Haven. Mrs. Hambrick had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 77 years and 18 days.

She was preceded in death by her father on January 24, 1966; her mother on June 11, 1976; and two brothers, infant Donald Milligan on October 25, 1938 and Robert James Milligan on October 30, 1988.

Mrs. Hambrick was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon and had been a clerical/medical assistant in the family medical practice in Wisconsin. She enjoyed shopping and was a devoted housewife and homemaker, always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Hambrick include one son, Bob Hambrick, Ellensburg, Washington; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ted Barrow, Union; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Wanda Milligan, Dixon; four grandchildren, Katie Barrow, Chris Barrow, Stephanie Hambrick and Stacey Hambrick; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Hambrick at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 18, 2012, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, with Rev. Bobby Williford, pastor, First Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating. A time of sharing was led by Kerri French and two vocal selections of “Amazing Grace” and “Take My Hand Precious Lord” were played for the funeral service.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Active pallbearers for Mrs. Hambrick were Bob Hambrick, Chris Barrow, Danny Milligan, Brady Milligan, Jarad Milligan and Craig French. Honorary pallbearers were Katie Barrow, Stephanie Hambrick, Stacey Hambrick and Niki Kelsay.

Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the Dixon Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, with envelopes available at the Dixon Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
