Robert Michael “Bob” Kiger, of Dixon, was born on February 18, 1957, at
Frankfurt, Germany, a son of Thomas Farrow and Herta (Jost) Kiger, and
departed this life at 2:02 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the Phelps
County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Bob had attained the age of 55
years, 2 months and 10 days.
Bob was a United States Marine Corp veteran and a member of the
Paralyzed Veterans Gateway Chapter, St. Louis. He had traveled
extensively competing in the Olympics. He had worked as a fire fighter
for the Missouri Conservation Department.
Those left to mourn the passing of Bob include: his daughter and
son-in-law, Sera and David Maldonado, Jefferson City; his mother, Herta
Kiger, Dixon; two grandchildren, Eva and Joaquin Maldonado; two sisters,
Peggy Kiger and Brinda Crum, both of Dixon; nephews; nieces; cousins
and many other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Kiger on March 16, 2006.
Funeral services were conducted for Bob at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 2,
2012, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel Dixon, with Bro. Dennis
Nichols, Victory Hill Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating. Three favorite
selections of “Peace In The Valley”, “Take It To The Limit” and “I Wish
You Peace” were played for the service.
Interment with military honors was in the Dixon Cemetery under the
direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services,
Dixon. Pallbearers for Bob were Jessie Vance, Sam Sherrell, David
Maldonado, Eli Crum, Rusty Wood and Mike Szulkowski. Honorary
pallbearers were Stan Brown, Ruth Kult, Mike Frye and Jamey Bollinger.
