Earl Clayton Wilson, son of the late Earl Roderic and Alma Mae
(McDonald) Wilson, was born February 25, 1930 in Pollock, Missouri where
he grew up and attended school.
On April 4, 1946, Clayton was united in marriage to Alberta Flora
Tyran in Salem, Arkansas. They shared over 51 years of marriage
together and were blessed with four children: Danny Joe, Ronnie Lee,
Sandra Jean and Sherry Marie. Flora preceded him in death on November
27, 1997.
Clayton worked for many years on a sales route for Rices Cleaners
of Waynesville. In his spare time, he was an avid sportsman who
enjoyed hunting, fishing, coonhounds, horses, and shooting matches. Most
importantly, he treasured the times that he could spend with his family
and friends.
Clayton was baptized June 17, 1998 at the Crocker Christian
Church. He was a member of the church and attended every time he was
able. He especially enjoyed the church chili cook-offs. He was also a
member of the Coon Hound and Tree Association and the National Rifle
Association.
Clayton went home to be with his Lord the morning of Tuesday,
March 18, 2008 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla,
Missouri at the age of 78 years, and 22 days.
Clayton will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by two sons:
Ronnie Wilson of Lebanon, MO and Danny Wilson, of Big Piney, MO; one
daughter: Sherry Foster of Waynesville, MO; two brothers: Wendell Wilson
of Waynesville, MO and Lloyd Wilson of Ravana, MO; one sister: Carolyn
Wilson; special friend: Odena Freeman of Waynesville, MO; 7
grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several other relatives and
friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Clayton was preceded in
death by one daughter, Sandra Jean; three brothers: Ogle, Dewey and
Larry Wilson; one sister: Virginia Ramey; and one great grandchild:
Logan Thomas.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 20, 2008
in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Breeden
officiating. The songs Ill Fly Away and Amazing Grace were played.
Serving as escorts were John, Terry, Steve, Chris, Mark and Clayton
Wilson. Serving as honorary escorts were Angela Cushing, Amy Helm,
Shelly Wilson and Sue Ann Robinson.
Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
