Walter R. Weber, son of the late Rudolph and Velma (Bartlett) Weber, was born June 13, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri.
On
April 30, 1950, Walter was united in marriage to Shirlene Sue Wilkerson
in Crocker, Missouri. They shared over 55 years of marriage together
and were blessed with four children: Mike, Debra, Janet and Robin.
Walter
was a hardworker and took great pride in providing for his family.
Walter, his dad and his brother opened up Weber & Sons Electrical
Contractors in Dixon, Missouri and later moved to Waynesville. They
served the Pulaski County area for many years. One of the things that
Walter was most proud of was the fact the he helped to provide
electricity to most of Pulaski County. He wired homes and businesses
that had not had electricity until he came along. Walter was employed
with General Electric for 3 years. After leaving GE, he became employed
at Lynch's Furniture as an appliance technician and worked there
faithfully for over 20 years.
Walter was a great Christian man.
He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized at an
early age. He was a charter member of the First Christian Church of
Waynesville. He was an active member at the church serving as an elder,
Sunday School superintendent, teacher of a Wednesday night Bible study
and taking care of the congregation wherever he was needed.
In
his spare time, Walter enjoyed working with his hands creating different
crafts out of wood. He loved his tools and never could get enough of
them. Most importantly, he loved his family and treasured the times that
he could spend with them.
Walter passed away the morning of
Sunday, March 5, 2006 in the St. John's Medical Center of Lebanon,
Missouri at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 20 days.
Walter
leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Shirlene of the home; one son:
Mike Weber and his wife, Paula of Waynesville, MO; three daughters:
Debra Jackson and her husband, George of Elgin, S.C., Janet York and her
husband, Roy of Waynesville, MO and Robin Hoffman and her husband, Rick
of Laquey, MO; a very special son-in-law: Rodney Apfel; special
friends: Regina Helm and her children, Randall and Sarah; 10
grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several other relatives and
friends.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by one sister: Marian Blaylock and one brother: Dale Weber.
Funeral
services were held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 9, 2006 in the Memorial
Chapel of Waynesville with Steve Lynch and Virgil White officiating.
Soloist Becky Lercher sang "Even In The Valley" and Walter's grandson,
Mikey Weber sang "Go Rest High On That Mountain". Serving as escorts
were Aaron Huffman, Spencer Woodin, Rick Hoffman, Clayton York, Mikey
Weber and Cory York.
Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial
Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of
Waynesville/St. Robert.
