Wilma (Cragg) Fisher 1914-1986

Wilma (Cragg) Fisher was born a daughter of Heber A. and Mina A. Cragg in Manhattan, Kansas on September 7, 1914 and departed this life July 23, 1986 at the age of 71 years.

Wilma entered the Navy while living in Junction City, Kansas, on November 10, 1944, and place of entry was in Bronx, New York.  She served in the Navy over two and half years doing various clerical work, and departed the naval service in Bethesda, Maryland on June 15, 1947.  She received the American Campaign Ribbon Victory Medal of World War II.

Wilma met and married John Fisher.  She enjoyed arts and crafts, fishing, quilting, and bowling.  Wilma was a member of the A.A.R.P..  She was retired from Civil Service where she was a clerk typist for Dental Detachment.

She was a loving wife, and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Wilma is survived by her husband, John of Waynesville; one step-son, Dennis Fisher of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Phildean Moore of Manhattan, Kansas, and Merle Cragg of Dodge City, Kansas; one sister, Georgie Hockensmith of Junction City, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 25, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Wayne Bell officiating.

Music was provided by organist Dorothy Moore.

Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Gordon Charles Fisher 1966-1986

Gordon Charles Fisher of rural Dixon, Missouri was born a son of Charles H. and Elli (Lerach) Fisher on January 30, 1966 in Haltern, West Germany.  He passed away Saturday, September 20, 1986 at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 20 years, seven months, and 21 days.

Gordon was a graduate of the class of 1984 at the Waynesville High School.  He loved the outdoors and loved riding his motorcycle.

Gordon will be sadly missed by his loved ones, and all of his friends.

He is survived by his parents, Charles H. and Elli (Lerach) Fisher of rural Dixon; one sister, Stephanie Fisher with the United States Navy at Great Lakes, Illinois; paternal grandparents, Howard and Janet Fisher of Syracuse, New York.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 24 at 3:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Father Jack Pender officiating.

Music was provided by organist Dorothy Moore.

Escorts were: Roy Burgess, Buford Clark, Don Clark, Dwight Hensley, Marvin Long, and Don Scott.

Interment was in the Dunkard Cemetery at St. Robert, Missouri, under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Gladys Belle (Fisher) Smith 1893-1984

Gladys Belle Smith was born a daughter of Judson Fisher and Ollie B. (Scott) Fisher on November 11, 1893 in Hamlin, Kansas, and she departed this life March 7, 1984 at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, having attained the age of 91 years, 3 months, and 25 days. She united in marriage to Marsh Smith, and to this union one son was born. She professed Christ at a very early age, and was also a Charter Member of the Harmony Baptist Church of Buckhorn, Missouri.

While living in Hiawatha, Kansas she and Mr. Smith worked together selling Real Estate, and after his death she continued on in the Real Estate Business. She came to Waynesville, Missouri to make her home 19 years ago, and while living here she has made many friends.

Mrs. Smith is survived by one son and her daughter in law, Cecil and Margie Smith of Camdenton, Missouri; one sister, Leonice Thompson of Watertown, South Dakota, and many friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10, 1984 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Don Martin officiating. Additional graveside services were held Monday, March 12, 1984- 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha, Kansas, under direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Serving as escorts: Norman Stoll, Charley Storie, Bill Barnes, Jim Anderson, Ray Fleischer, and Milton Thomas. Honorary escorts: Arthur Dye, Dan Hilger, Glen Haldeman, Glenn Smith.

Dean Howard Fisher 1896-1984

Dean Fisher, son of James and Sarah Fisher, was born in Brownfield, Missouri, on February 17, 1896, and passed away at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri on January 17, 1984. At the time of his passing, he had attained the age of 87 years and 11 months.

He lived and worked in the Richland area for many years and about 20 years ago moved to Rolla. He later made his home with his daughter and son-in-law in Rolla.

In June, 1930 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Harper.

Dean accepted Christ as his personal saviour at the Christian Church in Arlington, Texas, as a very young man. He served his country during World War I in the United States Army and was wounded in the Argonne Forest battle. He was a member of Lebanon VFW.

Those preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Elizabeth, 1 brother, William and 1 sister, Anna.

Surviving him are his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Hugh Harrison of Rolla, Missouri, other relatives and friends.
