Dean Howard Fisher 1896-1984

Dean Fisher, son of James and Sarah Fisher, was born in Brownfield, Missouri, on February 17, 1896, and passed away at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri on January 17, 1984. At the time of his passing, he had attained the age of 87 years and 11 months.

He lived and worked in the Richland area for many years and about 20 years ago moved to Rolla. He later made his home with his daughter and son-in-law in Rolla.

In June, 1930 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Harper.

Dean accepted Christ as his personal saviour at the Christian Church in Arlington, Texas, as a very young man. He served his country during World War I in the United States Army and was wounded in the Argonne Forest battle. He was a member of Lebanon VFW.

Those preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Elizabeth, 1 brother, William and 1 sister, Anna.

Surviving him are his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Hugh Harrison of Rolla, Missouri, other relatives and friends.

Nicks Cemetery (Laclede County)

Nicks Cemetery is located in Laclede County, near the Pulaski County, MO. line. Highway 17 South to Old Brownfield. It is on land that is referred to as the Dr. Harvey Nickels Farm. It is near Nicks Cemetery in Pulaski County.

Nicks Cemetery (Laclede County) is a small, family cemetery with approximately 33 marked graves and 4 unmarked graves. Members of the Bowling, Crismon, Detweller, Evans, Fisher, Harper, Harrison, Madden, Maxey, Monks, Nicks, Shockley, and Wilson families are buried here. The oldest dated stone is that of Luviney Maxey who died 8 June, 1866 at the age of 49 years 10 months. There are several stones dated between the early to mid 1900’s. One of the newer stones marks the grave of Thomas R. Bowling, who was born in 1904 and passed away 5 April, 1971.
