Reverend John L. Hicks d. 4 June 1958

The Rev. John L. Hicks, 84, widely known as Baptist minister of Waynesville, died today in his home there after an illness of two months. He had been a minister 55 years and was active in that work until his last illness. He was a member of the Waynesville Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. (DST) in the Baptist Church with the Rev. B.R. Tatom officiating. Burial will be in Waynesville Memorial Cemetery under direction of Hedges.

Survivors are his wife, Emma; two stepsons, C.C. Setser, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Robert F. Ichord, Scarsdale, N.Y.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Emma Jean Carlson, Phoenix; and Mrs. Ina Siering, Modesto, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Lucretia Dualavy, Des Moines, and three grandchildren.
