He professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age, and became a member of a small church in Willard, Missouri.
In 1923 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Hobart, and to this union was born four sons, and one daughter.
Joseph moved to Richland in 1940, where he worked at the Richline Boat Factory for several years. He has also worked as a city policeman and was employed at Caldwell Oil Company for several years. While living in Kansas City, he worked for Standard Steel Works for a number of years.
He is survived by four sons, Jerry of Richland, Raymond of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Richard of Mescito Pass, California, and Leon of Iola, Kansas; two daughters, Shirley Shelton of Richland, and Louise Sloan; several grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Those preceding him in death include his parents, his wives, and one son, Joe, and one daughter Margrete.
Funeral services were held at Colonial Funeral Chapel at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 1986 with Pryor Ray Prewett officiating.
Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist and Marcia Shadel, organist.
Burial was in the Elm Grove Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.
Escorts were: Bob Callahan, Gary Brown, Harold Ewing, Richard Shockley, Wayne Setser, and Danny Zeigenbein.
