Huldah Jane Smith 1882-1954

Huldah Smith was born October 28, 1882 in the City of Dubuque, Iowa. Her life has been a full one, in business, religious activities and social service. She was a woman of influence, personal magnetism, and kindly deeds. She was a member of the Daylight Chapter No. 611 Order of the Eastern Star, Chicago, Ill., before coming to Waynesville, Mo. Her many friends, located in various parts of the U. S. in many different cities will grieve with us that she is no longer here in person but inspiring memories linger still. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brothers, Will, Ed and Raymond and by a sister Ruth. After a busy life Miss Huldah Smith, chose to spend the sunset years here in the Ozarks, making her home with Mrs. David Batten and Mrs. Batten's sister, Mrs. Spencer. She was happy and contented and will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 6, 1954 at 2:30 P. M. at the Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Schrimpscher of Rolla, Missouri officiating. Interment was made in the Waynesville Memorial Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home of Waynesville. Pallbearers were: Squire Wells, Sterling Wells, Dallas Wells, Harold Wells, Russell Smith and Earnest Massey.
