On February 14, 1948, Josephine was united in marriage to Warren Reo Potter in Trieste, Italy. They shared over 50 years of marriage together and were blessed with two sons: Samuel and James.
During her working years, Josephine was employed by the Brown Shoe Company and worked there for 20 years. She took great pride in being a housewife and taking care of her family.
Josephine was a very active person and enjoyed being around people. She was a member of the Francis J. Lynch VFW Post 3168 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of three different bowling leagues: Sunday Evening Mixed League and the Tuesday Morning Coffee League of Buckhorn and the Wednesday Afternoon Seniors League in Rolla. She enjoyed being outdoors whether it was gardening in her flower beds or bird watching. She was a good seamstress and cook. She liked to travel, listen to music and watch basketball. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Josephine passed away the evening of Monday, March 27, 2006 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla, Missouri at the age of 83 years and 26 days.
Josephine will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by two sons: Sam Potter and his wife, Sandy of Rolla, MO and James Potter and his wife, Sandy of Independence, MO; two brothers: Theodor Mlekuz of Bovec, Slovenja and Albert Mlekuz of Belgium; three grandchildren: Matthew, Michael and Christy Potter; several other relatives and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband: Warren; two brothers: Joe and Frank Mlekuz and one sister: Mimi Mlekuz.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 31, 2006 in the Memorial Chapel of Waynesville with Father John Groner officiating. The Francis J. Lynch VFW Post 3168 Ladies Auxiliary started the service with the Ritual for Deceased Members. Josephine's son, Sam, gave a beautiful eulogy. Serving as escorts were Mathew and Michael Potter (Josephine's grandsons), LeRoy Tronstad, Eugene Thiltgen, Mark and Roy Dale Shelden.
Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert.
