Paul Evert Jones 1919-2012

Paul Evert Jones, life time resident of Dixon, was born on October 4, 1919, in Maries County, a son of Evert and Agnes Emaline (Bacon) Jones, and departed this life at 10:32 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2012, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Mr. Jones had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 92 years, 3 months and 8 days.

Mr. Jones was united in marriage on August 19, 1939, at Dixon to Helen Mary Ann Vaughan, and to this union, two children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on February 21, 1996; his father in 1984; his mother in 1974; one brother, William “Bill” Jones; and four sisters, Donna Emaline Jones, at the age of two months; Reba Humphrey, Mearl Clark and Cathrine Goad.

Mr. Jones was baptized early in life and was a faithful member of the Santee Community Church near Dixon. He had worked for the Dixon MFA, testing cream; for the Dixon Lumber Company and later civil service at Fort Leonard Wood, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed Blue Grass music and playing solitaire.

 Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Jones include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Billie Jones, St. Peters; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlsie and Dean Sims, Warrenton; four grandchildren, Darryl W. Jones, Kansas City; Michael J. Jones and wife, Patricia, Foristell; Jerry D. Sims and wife, Janet, Warrenton and Bradley Sims, Warrenton; two great-grandchildren, Chase Jones and Taylor Sims; one sister-in-law, Mona Jones, Dixon; numerous nephews; nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Jones at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2012, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Ron Hershberger, Santee Community Church, officiating. Harold Rowden, Mona Jones, Johnny Purdue, Luther Withers and Russell Withers sung “Six Hours On The Cross”, “Zions Hill” and “Far Side Banks Of Jordan” for the funeral service.

Interment was in the West Fairview Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Jones were Jerry Sims, Darryl Jones, Mike Jones, Brad Sims, Frank Lipscomb and Doug Burnett. Honorary pallbearers were Stanley Martin and Kenny Deardeuff.

Memorials are suggested by the family to the Santee Community Church with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
