She was united in marriage to Melvin Sims and unto this union 12 sons and 3 daughters were born.
Mrs. Sims was widowed in March of 1959. She dedicated her life caring for her children and working to support them. She was a wonderful mother and she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be terribly missed by all her family and friends.
Funeral services were held in the Dixon Methodist Church on Sunday, Sept. 14, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ron Burns officiating. Burial was in the Seaton Cemetery under the direction of the Long Funeral Home in Dixon. Doug Hamilton was the organist and serving as her pallbearers were her sons, Roger, Dwight, Dean, Charles, Dan, Larry, Mike, Kenny, Keith and Willis.
Imogene is survived by her children, Roger Sims of Dixon, Norma Harrison of Fulton, Dwight Sims of Dixon, Dean Sims of O’Fallon, Mo., Charles Sims of Kansas City, Dan Sims of Jefferson City, Larry Sims of Jefferson City, Mike Sims of St. Louis, Linda Chandler of Lake Toxaway, North Carolina, Kenny Sims of Rolla, Keith Sims of St. Louis, Willis Sims of Devils Elbow, and Brenda Brown of Fulton, 28 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sons, Charles Dwight and Jerry Wayne and 1 brother Willis Dean Slone.
