Lloyd James Evans 1904-1986

Lloyd James Evans was born at Hayden, Missouri on May 27, 1904, the son of James Henry and Emma Blackwell Evans and passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 1986 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla.  He had attained the age of 82 years.

He was united in marriage to Blanche Slone on Nov. 6, 1926 and unto this union 2 sons and 2 daughters were born.

Lloyd was a member of the First Christian Church here in Dixon for 46 years, having served as deacon for a number of years.  He was a member of the Arlington Lodge No. 346 in which he served as Tiler for 28 years, and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 283.  Lloyd served in the Army Air Corps from Feb. 22, 1922 to Feb. 21, 1925 as a plane mechanic which he enjoyed very much.  He loved to fish and hunt.  Before he retired he was a custodian for the Dixon School systems.  He worked at Chevrolet Motor Co. in St. Louis for 18 years as a mechanic.

Funeral Services were held in the Long Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Martin officiating.  Burial was in the Dixon cemetery.  Organist was Carman Hauck.  Serving as his pallbearers were: Harold Campbell, Frank Fabyanic, Troy Porter, Al Quick, Andy George, and Charles Sease.  Honorary pallbearers were: Walter Dickens, Archie Whitaker, Terry E. Clark, Bob Pendleton and Arthur Stuart.

Masonic services were given at the Long Funeral Chapel on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.

He is survived by his wife Blanche of the home, 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie Ray and Sue of Dixon, Donald Gene and Carol of Bakersfield, California, 1 daughter Ruth Ann DeLara of Joliet, Illinois, 2 sisters, Opal Bowman of St. Louis and Lillian Riddle of Pharr, Texas, 7 grandchildren, Bruce Evans, Pam Beltz, Donna Irvin, Sherree Fateley, and Danny, Mike, and Bradley DeLara and 5 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 daughter Dorothy Louise Evans.
