Oscar Emit Thorpe May 25 - December 25, 1894

This entry is from the J.J. Watts collection. John J. Watts hailed from Warren, Maine and moved to the northern Ozarks of Missouri sometime after the Civil War. He was a circuit-riding Baptist Minister and his territory covered Phelps, Pulaski, and Texas Counties and parts of Maries and Dent Counties. He established a cemetery, Watt’s Lawn, which is located 1 mile West of J Highway, near the Pulaski County-Phelps County line. This collection covers 1878-1912.

Oscar Emit, son of Charles M. & Annie Thorpe born in Phelps Co., MO., May 25th 1894, died south of the Decker Pond, in Phelps Co., Dec. 25th 1894 at 6 p.m., aged 7 ms. Singing, prayer and remarks at the Watts Lawn Cemetery by J.J. Watts, Dec. 20th 1894. Father, Mother .

Francis William Shaw 1892-1894

This entry is from the J.J. Watts collection. John J. Watts hailed from Warren, Maine and moved to the northern Ozarks of Missouri sometime after the Civil War. Francis William, son of George M. and Lucy E. Shaw born in Phelps Co. June 20th 1892, died in Phelps Co. Nov. 28th 1894, at 2 p.m., aged 2 ys, 5 ms, and 8 ds. Singing, prayer and remarks at the Watts Lawn Cemetery by J.J. Watts, Nov. 29th 1894, at 4 p.m. Father, mother, 2 sis., grandfather and grandmother and step grandmother survive.

Florida Wilford Null 1877-1894

This entry is from the J.J. Watts collection. John J. Watts hailed from Warren, Maine and moved to the northern Ozarks of Missouri sometime after the Civil War. He was a circuit-riding Baptist Minister and his territory covered Phelps, Pulaski, and Texas Counties and parts of Maries and Dent Counties. Florida Wilford, son of Josiah and Hannah Null was born in Jefferson Co., MO, January 14th 1877, died in Piney T., Pulaski Co., MO, Oct. 20th 1894 at 8 p.m., aged 17 ys, 9 ms and 6 ds. A funeral sermon was preached at his fathers residence, from Psalms 89X48 by J.J. Watts, Oct 22d 1894 at 1 p.m., after which he was taken to the McCortney Cemetery where religious service was held by Rev. A Hendrix before he was buried at 3 p.m. Father, mother, 4 brothers, and 5 sisters survives him.

Maranda Elkins 1858-1894

Maranda, wife of James M. Elkins, born in Pulaski Co., MO, Apr. 17th 1858, died in Piney T. Pulaski Co., Feb. 23rd 1894 aged 35 ys, 10 ms, and 6 days. A funeral sermon was preached at their residence, from 1st Thes. 4X13 & 14 verses, by J.J. Watts Feb. 24th 1894 at 11 a.m., after which the remains were taken to the Bradford Cemetery and buried. Husband, 7 children, and mother survives.
