Steve Gounis d. 3 December 1969

STEVE GOUNIS

WAYNESVILLE- Funeral services for Steve Gounis, 81, of Route 1, Waynesville, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church here with the Revs. Lyle cox and William Dudley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery here under direction of Moss-Williams of Waynesville.

Mr. Gounis died at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday in the Pulaski County Hospital following an extended illness. He was the owner-operator of the S.G. Motel near Waynesville.

Surviving are his wife, Flora; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Casler, of Waynesville; a sister living in Greece; and three grandchildren.

Dr. Arthur L. Tice d. 16 October 1969

CROCKER- Funeral services for Dr. Arthur L. Tice, 82, of Crocker, will be at 2 p.m. today in the Crocker Presbyterian Church wit the Rev. Robert Bullard officiating. Burial will be in Crocker Memorial Cemetery under direction of Moss-Williams.

A practicing dentist in Crocker since 1912, Dr. Tice was a member of the Crocker Presbyterian Church. He dies at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Pulaski County Hospital, Waynesville, following a sudden illness.

Survivors include his wife, Mae; one daughter Maxine, of Crocker; one niece and one nephew.

Lt. George Richard (Dick) Knight d. 5 November 1969

State Patrol's Lt. Knight Dies of Leukemia

WAYNESVILLE (Special)- Funeral services for Lt. George Richard Knight, 59, of Waynesville, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the West Side Baptist Church, Waynesville, with the Revs. Wilbur Harbaugh and Billy Dudley officiating. Burial will be in Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Moss-Williams of Waynesville.

Lt. Knight was deputy commander of Highway Patrol Troop I at Rolla and had been with the highway patrol since 1942. He was acheduled to retire next May.

He died at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday in Pulaski Memorial Hospital here where he had been hospitalized six months. His death was attributed to leukemia.

Survivors include his wife, Anna; one son, James, who is serving with the Marine Corps; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Knight of Moberly; three brothers, Albert, Quincy, Ill., Everett of Roanoke, Va., and Curtis of the state of New Jersey; and three grandchildren.

Clarence A. Ballard d. 29 January 1969

WAYNESVILLE- Funeral services for Clarence Albert Ballard, 72, Waynesville, who died in Pulaski County Hospital Wednesday, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Sanders and the Rev. Barry Hampton officiating. Burial, under direction of Moss-Williams of Waynesville, will be in Mount Gibson Cemetery.

Mr. Ballard is survived by his wife, Brilla; three sons, Sylvanus, Charlie and Bland; six daughters, Mrs. Elva Debar, Mrs. Ollie Stewart, Mrs. Clairia York, Mrs. Sue Rhoades, Mrs. Ethlyn Bales, and Miss Elizabeth Ballard; and 21 grandchildren.

Mrs. Virgil Hutton d. 24 Janaury 1969

WAYNESVILLE- Mrs. Caroline Jewell Hutton, 41, of Waynesville, died Friday in the Pulaski County Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil; three sons, Richard Stewart, Peoria, Ill., and Ellis R. and Roger L. Hutton, both of the home; her mother, Mrs. Ruth Rowden; two brothers, William Rowden, Waynesville, and Charles Rowden, Lexington, Mo.; a sister, Oleta Tucker of the state of California, and a grandson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Buckhorn Baptist Church, with the Rev. Norman Sanders officiating. Burial, under direction of Moss-Williams of Waynesville, will be in Buckhorn cemetery.

Clyde Johns d. 14 January 1969

WAYNESVILLE- Funeral services for Clyde Johns, 64, Route 2, Newburg, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Moss-Williams Chapel here with the Rev. Wilson Davis officiating. Burial will be in Waynesville Memorial Park.

Mr. Johns died Tuesday in Pulaski County Hospital here after a lingering illness.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie; four daughters, Mrs. Edith Nelson, Jonesboro, Ind.; Miss Betty Johns, of the home, and Mrs. Barbara Deckard and Mrs. Mary Backues, both of Jefferson City; four sons, Raymond of Dixon, Ernest, Commerce, Calif.; Wilmer, Wichita Falls, Tex., and James, of the home; a sister, Mrs. Zelma Gibbs, Salem; a brother, Fred, East St. Louis, Ill.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Myra Jean Roam d. 14 August 1969

CAMDENTON- Funeral services for Miss Myra Jean Roam, 18, of Camdenton, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Georgia Wade Chapel here with the Rev. Max Morris officiating. Burial will be in Waynesville Memorial Cemetery under direction of Walter Hedges of Camdenton.

Miss Roam died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday in the University of Missouri Medical Center after a long illness. She attended Camdenton High School.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Roam; two sisters, Judy Ehling, Osage Beach, and Cindy of the home; three brothers, Lonnie, Versailles, and Douglas and Terry, both of the home; and her grandmother, Odessa Roam, Waynesville.

WAYNESVILLE- June C. Tiper, 47, of Waynesville, died at 4 a.m. Friday in the Pulaski County Hospital in Waynesville after suffering an apparent heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one step-son, Stephen, of the home; his mother, Anna Tiper, of Junction City, Kan.; five brothers, Clyde of Kansas City, Kan., Gilbert of Salina, Kan., Roy of Junction City, Kan., Bernal of Paola, Kan., and Homer of Salina, Kan.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Moss-Williams Chapel in Waynesville, with the Rev. Wilbur Harvall officiating. Burial will be in the Waynesville Memorial Cemetery.

Thomas Reagan Roam (1893-1969)


Thomas Reagan Roam was born in Pulaski County, Missouri on February 1, 1893 and at his passing had attained the age of 76 years, six days.
 
In January 14, he was united in marriage to Clara Florence Wilkerson and to this union two children were born.Mrs. Roam preceded him in death on Jan.16, 1960.
 
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Belle Webber of Dixon and Mrs. Bonita Stevens of Rolla; five grandchildren, Nina Nanette Bidwell, Karyn Fryand, Deborah Stevens, Gary and David Stevens, and one great-grandchild, Helly J. Stevens. He also leaves one Brother,Oscar of Colmbus, Kansas, and two sister, Mrs Opal Seave and Mrs. Marie Veasman of Dixon, besides nieces, nephews and other relatives.
 
At an early age he was baptized into the fellowship of the Crocker Christian Church, later transferring his membership to the Waynesville Christian Church.
 
Funeral services were held at the Gilbert Chapel in Dixon Feb. 10 at two o'clock for Reagan Roam, who passed away at Dixon on February 7. The Rev. George Perrine officiated with interment in Crocker Memorial Cemetery.

Ralph Knowlten Breeden, Jr 1943-1969

Ralph Knowlten Breeden, Jr., son of Ralph and Mary Breeden was born September 24, 1943 and passed away at the Burge Protestant Hospital in Springfield, Missouri February 18, 1969 at the age of 25 years, 4 months and 25 days.

At an early age he was united with the Mt. Gibson Church where he remained a member until his untimely death.

Knowlten was engaged in farming and was an auctioneer.

On June 30, 1962 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Rollins and to this union one son, Kurt Knowlten, was born.

He was preceded in death by his father in August 1967.

Knowlten leaves to mourn his passing: his wife Dorothy and son Kurt, his mother, Mary Breeden of Waynesville, Missouri, one sister, Lorene Barnes of Laquey, Missouri, two brothers, Frank of Stoutland, Missouri and Richard of Waynesville, his maternal grandmother, Anna Helton and paternal grandmother, Cammie Breeden, five nephews, two nieces, aunts, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Knowlten will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
