Nellie May Burgard d. 2 June 1975

MRS. NELLIE BURGARD

MANSFIELD- Graveside services for Mrs. Nellie Burgard, 85, Devil's Elbow, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Rolla City Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Keeth officiating. Burial will be under direction of Null and Son of Rolla.

Friends may call at the funeral home tonight.

Mrs. Burgard died Monday in the hospital at Mansfield after a short illness.

A native of Sedalia, she and her late husband operated a grocery store at Devil's Elbow from 1937-1960.

Surviving are two sons, Granville L., of St. Louis, Ill., and Robert S. of Mansfield.

Issac F. (Ike) Martin, SR. d. 15 March 1975

Springfield businessman Isaac F. (Ike) Martin, Sr., 80, of 1209 South Jefferson, died at 10:55 p.m. Saturday at his home after a long illness.

Mr. Martin established the Ike Martin music store, now located at 220 South Campbell, in 1919 on South Main Street. He retired in 1948.

He was active with the Missouri Conservation Commission and was a World War I Navy veteran.

Mr. Martin was a member of Goad-Ballinger American Legion Post 69, VFW, and Elks Lodge 409.

He attended Springfield Public Schools and Drury College and was a member of St. Agnes Cathedral.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel M.; three sons, Isaac F., Jr., of 2526 East Grand, Charles Dudley, of Route 2, and Ben J. of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three sisters, Mrs. Loraine Strickrodt, Aurora, Mrs. Delbert Wright, Brentwood, and Mrs. Naomi Hasty, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements are incomplete under direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer.

*Editor’s Note---Saint Robert was home to an Ike Martin Music Store as early as December 1974 when the Pulaski County Democrat reported that Mr. & Mrs. Ron Reed were the new managers. A seemingly abandoned (but stocked) Ike Martin Music Store was located just east (37.827531, -92.173484) of the IGA Foodliner on Route 66 as late as 1989.

Charles Everett Fenton d. 7 December 1975

WAYNESVILLE- Services for Charles Everett Fenton, 53, Waynesville, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Long-Moss-Williams Funeral Chapel here with the Rev. Murray Southwell officiating. Burial will be in the Waynesville Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Fenton died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Windsor Estates Convalescence Center in Camdenton.

Surviving are his wife, Frances, of Fort Clinton, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Sharon Gann, Waynesville, and Mrs. Charlotte Rodgers, Centralia; two brothers, William, of Waynesville, and Robert, of the state of Florida; one sister, Mrs. Wilma Adair, St. Louis; and a grandson.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Cleo M. Wilder d. 23 May 1975

WAYNESVILLE- Cleo M. Wilder, 86, Carthage, died at 11:15 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Hospital in Joplin.

Mr. Wilder is survived by a son, Cleo, Jr., New Hampshire; two daughters, Miss Catherine Wilder, Waynesville, and Mrs. Mary Corp, Virginia; a brother, Mark Wilder, Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Mayme Vance, Kansas; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Moss-Williams Funeral Home in Waynesville with Brother Dick Stoval officiating. Burial is to be in Waynesville Memorial Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Monday.

Mary Jane Lane 1898-1975

Mary Jane Lane was born March 11, 1898 at Crocker, Missouri, and passed away at the Pulaski County Memorial Hospital on October 14, 1975, after having attained the age of 77 years, 7 months, and 3 days.

She was united in marriage on April 5, 1925 to Byran A. Lane who preceded her in death on February 5, 1957.

She leaves to mourn her passing 2 sons: Robert B. of Waynesville, Missouri, and Lloyd E. of Crocker, Missouri; and 2 daughters Cora E. Haney of Wister, Oklahoma, and Catherine B. Nicks of Waynesville, Missouri.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and 1 sister, Mrs. Ella Dodds, of Waynesville, Missouri.

She was a member of the Gospel Ridge Union Church.

Funeral services were held Thursday October 16, 1975, at 2 p.m. at the Moss-Williams Chapel in Waynesville, Missouri with the Reverend Billy F. Smith officiating.

Interment was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Moss-Williams of Waynesville.

Pallbearers were: Dean Cowan, Robert Burnett, Charles Skinner, Snowden Ray, Bill Sumpter, and John Ray.

Clarence Herbert Berry 1900-1975

Clarence Herbert Berry, son of Henry and Oma Hovis Berry was born in February 3, 1900 at Flat River, Missouri and departed this life February 23, 1975 at 4:55 p.m. at the Pulaski County Hospital in Waynesville after having attained the age of 75 years and 21 days.

He was united and baptized in the First Baptist Church at Kennett, Missouri in 1921.

Being preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother, and an infant child, Clarence leaves to mourn his passing: his devoted wife, Beulah of the home, one sister, Maggie Curtman, of Crocker, Missouri and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Clarence and Beulah moved to Crocker in 1965 from St. Louis, Missouri.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 26, 1975 at 2 p.m. at the Moss-Williams Chapel in Crocker, Missouri with rev. Dennis Ferguson officiating. Interment was in the Crocker Memorial cemetery under the direction of Moss-Williams of Crocker.

Pallbearers were: Guy Curtman, John Thornsberry, Frank Hardesty, Snowden Wilkes, Carl Cantrell, and Ray Kinsley.

Robert Dale Welch 1926-1975

Robert Dale Welch, son of the late George D. and Annie Lane Welch, was born June 24, 1926, at Waynesville, Missouri.

He passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, 13 October, 1975, having attained the age of 49 years, 3 months, 19 days.

When Robert was a small boy the family moved to the Big Piney vicinity and it has continued to be his home.

On November 23rd, 1949 Robert was married to Lillian Hope York and to this union 2 sons were born.

He leaves to mourn his passing: His wife Lillian, of the home, a son Robert Dwight, of Plato, Missouri, and a son Randy dale of the home, his daughter-in-law Brenda Reed Welch, a granddaughter, Stacie Lynn, 1 sister and brother-in-law Opal and Simon Gilbert, of Big piney; 4 brothers, Vernon G. and Clyde L., of Big Piney, His twin brother, Orville Don, of Jefferson City, Missouri, James Leo of Palmdale, California, 9 nieces and nephews, 9 great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

His parents and a sister, Juanita Welch Berry, preceded him in death.

Robert was saved and united with the Hopewell Baptist Church when he was a young man. His deep faith substantiated him during his long illness.

Robert will be lovingly missed by all who knew him, but none would want to call him back for he is free from pain and is at peace in God’s loving care.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 16th, 1975, 2 p.m. at the Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Ewell Groves, and the Rev. Martin Davis. Interment was in the Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of the Moss-Williams Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Charles Sidwell, Curtiss Spitker, Claudie Chambers, Paul Page, Dale Sanders, Ronald Chambers.
