Lester Arnold Ridenhour d. 23 December 1980

PLATO- Services for Lester and Arnold Ridenhour, 59, Plato, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Long-Moss-Williams Chapel, Waynesville, with the Rev. Lee Schaffer officiating. Burial will be in Waynesville Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Ridenhour died Tuesday in a St. Louis hospital.

A construction worker, he was a member of Iron Workers Local 396.

Survivors include his wife, Harriett; his mother, Flora Ridenhour, Jefferson City; and two sisters, Miss Marjorie Ridenhour, Jefferson City, and Mrs. Helen Crutsinger, Holts Summit.

The family will be in the funeral home from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Dr. George Emil Morgan 1895-1980

Dr. George Emil Morgan, formerly of Waynesville, died at his home in Boca Raton, Florida on December 20, 1980.

Dr. Morgan, who was known as “Dick” to most of his friends and relatives in this area, was born January 28, 1895 on the Morgan Farm South of Waynesville.  He attended Southwest State College in Springfield and received his DDS degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1916.  In 1918 he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he practiced dentistry for 42 years.

During his professional career, Dr. Morgan achieved prominence in his field.  He taught at Marquette University and was a co-founder of the practice of pedodontics or child dentistry.  He served on many professional associations including the American Dental Association.

In 1960, Dr. Morgan retired and he and his wife moved from Milwaukee and settled in Boca Raton in 1962 where they remained until the time of his death.  While in Florida, Dr. Morgan continued to be very active in community and charitable activities.  He was instrumental in raising money for, and supporting, the Boca Raton Community Hospital, and served on the hospital’s executive committee and as treasurer of the hospital, until the time of his death.  His friends in this area will agree with his friends and associates in Florida who remember him as a lovable man, a man of integrity and a man dedicated to helping others.

Funeral services were held in Boca Raton, Florida on December 23.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Boca Raton Community Hospital, Boca Raton, Florida.

Dr. Morgan was married 62 years ago to the former lee Burchard, formerly of Waynesville, who survives.  He is also survived by a son, George E. Morgan, Jr., of Potomac, Maryland, and a daughter, Dorothy Hayes, of Madison, Wisconsin, by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Other survivors include two brothers, Joe N. Morgan and Claude H. Morgan, of Waynesville, and a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Joseph Henry Walters 1910-1980

Joseph Henry Walters was born in Swedeborg, Missouri on November 15, 1910, the son of Charlie and Mary Ann Lane Walters and passed away in the Pulaski County Memorial Hospital in Waynesville, December 24, 1980.  He had attained the age of 70 years.

He was united in marriage to Grace Fancher on September 14, 1931 and unto this union three sons and one daughter were born.

He served in the Army in WWII in 1945 and accepted Christ in 1938 as his Saviour.

Funeral services were conducyed on Saturday, December 27, 1980 at the Crocker Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Mark Miller officiating.

Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Long Moss Williams Funeral Home of Crocker.

Pallbearers were his grandsons.

Lewis Henry Bade 1903-1980

Lewis Henry Bade, of Route 1, Vienna was born June 21, 1903 in Maries County, the son of Henry and Minnie McMinn Bade, and departed this life on Wednesday afternoon, December 31, 1980 at the Rolla Manor Care Nursing Center, Rolla, following a lengthy illness.  He had attained the age of 77 years, six months and ten days.

Mr. Bade was united in marriage on June 14, 1922 at Vienna, to the former Miss Eunie Isabelle Copeland, and to this union, four children were born.

A retired farmer, Mr. Bade was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, January 3, 1981 at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Chapel, Vienna, with the Rev. Sean Smyth, Visitation Catholic Church, officiating.

Interment was in the Vienna Cemetery under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.

Pallbearers for Mr. Bade were Bill Thompson, Michael Thompson, Karl Bade, Bernard Bade, Leonard Bade, Jr., John Bade, Donnie Bade and Muriel Copeland.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Bade include: His wife, Mrs. Eunie Bade, Route 1, Vienna; three sons, Leonard Loyd Bade, Rolla and Virgil Lee Bade and Raymond Gene Bade, both of Vienna; one daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Thompson, Vienna; two brothers, Joseph Bade and Leonard Bade, both of Vienna; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Laney, Rolla and Mrs. Arminta O’Halloran, Viena; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Myrtle Burton 1912-1980

Myrtle Burton, daughter of Wesley and Lizzi Williams Burton, was born February 14, 1912, in Portageville, Missouri and departed this life December 27,1980 at the Fort Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 31, 1980 at 11:00 a.m. with Major Lindell E. Anderson officiating,

Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers were:  Larry Reeves, Tony Reeves, Harold Brigance, Vernon Ford, Roy Burton and George Burton.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Charles Brigance of Richland; three brothers, Roy, George and Floyd Burton of the state of Michigan; three sisters, Frances Graves of Michigan, Katherine Nolin of Florida, and Elsie Glasstetter of Michigan; three grandsons and other relatives.

Edna W. Morris 1906-1980

Edna W. Morris,74, was born in the state of Iowa on March 6, 1906, and passed away Sunday evening, November 30, 1980 at her home in Grandview Beach Resort, near Warsaw,

She grew up in Iowa and on November 26, 1939, she was united in marriage to Guy C. Morris.

Following their marriage they made their home in Kansas City, Missouri where she worked in the children’s ward of Children’s Mercy Hospital.  In 1947, they moved to Dallas, Texas where they lived until 1965.  At that time they moved to Waynesville, Missouri, and later to their home at Grandview Beach in 1974.

She was a member of the Hickory Hills Baptist Church of Waynesville, Missouri.

She is survived by her husband, Guy, of the home; two daughters, Margueritte Gee of Dallas, Texas and Dorothy Duley of Huntsville, Missouri; one son, Jim Morris of Kansas City, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lena McGuire of Waynesville, Missouri, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Edna Morris were held Wednesday afternoon, December 3, 1980 at 1:30 p.m. at the Reser Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Eason officiating.  Pallbearers were: Jake Bodenhamer, Virgil Bradley, Marshall Blair, Don Amey, and Robert Bradford.  Burial was in the Shawnee Cemetery.

Lester Arnold Ridenhour was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on October 16, 1921 the son of Alfred and Flora (Maples) Ridenhour and departed this life on December 23, 1980.  He had attained the age of 59 years, 2months, and 7 days.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, December 27, 1980 at 10 a.m. at the Long Moss Williams Chapel in Waynesville, Missouri with the Rev. Lee Schaffer officiating.  Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Long Moss Williams Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were:  Travis Jetter, Robert Boulware, Leon Henderson, Jimmy Puck, Elroy McMillian, and Wayne Richmond.

Honorary Pallbearers were:  Tom Shirley, Charles Goodrich, Robert Robbins, and Gene Kraft.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet, of the home, his mother, Flora, Jefferson City, Missouri, two sisters: Margie Ridenhour, Jefferson City, Missouri, and Helen Crutsinger, Holts Summit, Missouri.

Roy Melvin Woody 1915-1980

Roy Melvin Woody, son of Leonard (Len) and Mary Elizabeth Nicks Woody was born near Brownfield, Missouri September 14, 1915 and departed this life December 24, 1980 in the Washoe Medical Hospital in Reno, Nevada.  Memorial services were held at Reno, December 26.

He spent his early life in Pulaski County and attended Richland High School.  In 1940 he moved to Reno, Nevada.

He had retired from O.N.C. Truck Lines after 30 years of service and in 1972 received the award for truck driver of the year.

At an early age he made his confession of faith in Christ and was baptized and became a member of the Macedonia Christian Church.

Those left to mourn his passing include his wife Edna of the home; a son Mike of Reno; one brother Arthur of Richland and four sisters, Artie Clark, Bertha Mackney and Blanche Shivers, all of Richland and Nicksie Harris of Lebanon and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cliffie Jean Buser.

Everett Glen Rowden 1903-1980

Everett Glen Rowden was born on April 20, 1903 at Big Piney, Missouri the son of Charles Melvin and Margaret Arizona (Wilson) Rowden and departed this life on December 23, 1980 at the Rolla Manor Nursing Home in Rolla, Missouri.  He had attained the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 2 days.

He was united in marriage to Gladys Anderson in 1924 and unto this union one son was born.  Gladys preceded him in death in 1932.

He was married to Alba Margaret Butcher on March 7, 1947.

He was in business in the Waynesville area, living here for about 43 years.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 26, 1980 at 2 p.m. at the Long Moss Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Walton and Lester Sutton officiating.  Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Long Moss Williams Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were:  Herman Paulette, George Ruckman, Danny Arrington, Charles Rowden, Melvin Rowden, and William J. Rowden.

He is survived by his wife, Alba, of the home, one son, Bill, Waynesville, one stepson, Robert Butcher, Springfield, Missouri, and one foster brother, Howard Derry, DeSoto, Missouri, two grandchildren, Melvin Lee Rowden, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Margaret Arrington, Waynesville, one step-grandson, George Ruckman, two great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, cousins, and friends.

Emmett O. Shockley 1882-1980

Emmett O. Shockley, formerly of Waynesville, son of Oliver W. and Elizabeth Lewis born in Waynesville September 20, 1882, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 1980 at the Stover Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for the past eight years, having attained the age of 97.

He was affiliated with the Baptist Church and retired a farmer. He had lived in the Eldon area for the past fifteen years.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 18, 1980 at 2:00 p.m. at the Griswold-Kays Funeral Home at Eldon with Rev. Kenneth Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the
