Lillian grew up and attended school in England. On May 11, 1946, she and George Perry Sparks were married in England, while George was stationed with the United States Army Aircorp. To this union, a daughter, Linda Marie, was born October 30, 1949 in Waltham, Massachusetts. After serving 23 ½ years in the United States Air Force, George and Lillian retired in Lebanon, Missouri in September, 1966. Lillian was employed by the H. D. Lee Company, working at both the Commercial Street and Lebcut plants, for over 21 years.

December 17th, 2009

George William Green was born February 29, 1944 in Dixon, Missouri. He was one of twelve children born to the union of George Washington and Dorothy Jane (Mitchell) Green.

George passed away December 17, 2009, at his home near Laquey, Missouri, at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 18 days.

“Bill,” as he was affectionately known, grew up and attended school in Dixon. As did most kids from large families, Bill cut his education short to work and help support the family. But he did make sure he helped his sister, Judy complete her education. Bill started at an early age worrying more about the welfare of others, than of his own.

Bill worked for the Mark Twain National Forestry for thirteen years before taking a position with the Pulaski County Road and Bridge department. Bill was proud to have been an employee of PCR&B for twenty-three years and four months; most of those years being spent on a motor grader.

On September 30, 1999, Bill married Gwendolyn Green at her day care center in Buckhorn. Bill’s family immediately expanded to include not only Gwen’s sons, Eric and Ronnie, but also all of the day care children, who lovingly branded him as “Bill-Bill.”

Bill loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, riding his horses and working on his farm. He was also a big John Wayne fan. Bill was a long time member of Buckhorn Baptist Church.

Bill will be greatly missed by his wife: Gwen; two sons: Eric Goudge of Laquey and Ronnie Goudge of Puyallup, Washington; nine siblings: Mary Ann Anderson and husband, Paul, and Margie Lou Steen both of Crocker, Norma Jean Atwell, and husband, Bob of California, MO, Judy Wieners and husband, Clarence of Laquey, Raymond Green and wife, Kay of Kane, Illinois, Barbara Bowling and friend, Richard Ledbetter of Richland, Ronnie Green and wife, Kathy of Montreal, Paula Forrest of St. Robert and John Green and wife, Lisa of Laquey; two grandsons: Gavin and Alex; many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his father: George Green (June 26, 1978); his mother: Dorothy Green (November 21, 1998); one brother: Freddie Green (September 4, 2007) and a sister: Nora Twehus (January 12, 2000).

Mary Anita Buxton passed away at 10:40 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2010, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 20 days.

Mary was born December 5, 1916 in Gravette, Arkansas. Daughter of the late Laura B. (Mathew) and James Buxton, Mary was the youngest of five children, Earl, Charles, George and Jay Buxton and Verda Dunn; all of whom preceded Mary in death.

Mary grew up and attended school in Pierce City, Missouri. She was very proud to be a player on her high school basketball team which played in the state championship. Mary graduated from Pierce City High School in 1933.

In 1936, Mary started working at the Pierce City Public School District for Roi Webb. She served at this position for five years. This job was to be the start of a long friendship and working relationship with both Mr. Webb and the public school districts. She worked for a time as a secretary in Joplin with the Teamster’s Union. It involved the construction of Camp Crowder. She moved to her own apartment in Joplin on December 7, 1941. During WWII, Mary and her sister, Verda were offered a chance to play on a professional women’s basketball team. She recalled they were paid just enough to cover travel expenses to and from games they played all around the country. After the war, Mary returned to Pierce City and worked at the bank. On July 1, 1947, Mr. Wood became the superintendent of Joplin’s public schools, and Mary returned to Joplin to work as his secretary. After 37 years of service to the Joplin School District, Mary retired in 1984. She served several years with the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. After that, she slowly retired from the working world to live a quiet life in the same house she had bought decades earlier.

In 2001, Mary moved to the Waynesville/St. Robert area to be closer to her niece and her husband, Laura and Tom Hume.
