Flossie M. (Watkins) Shivers 1905-1986

Flossie M. Shivers, daughter of Walter and Effie Harrison Watkins, was born May 9, 1905 near Hazelgreen, Missouri and departed this life Friday, January 24, 1986 in Breech Medical Center following a sudden illness.

On July 8, 1929 she was united in marriage with Ralph Shivers and to this union were born six children, all surviving.

Early in life Flossie professed her faith in Christ and united with the Hazelgreen Methodist Church, later transferring her membership to the Brownfield Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband Ralph of the home, two daughters, Cleo Lindsey of Independence, Missouri and Norma Landtroop of Euless, Texas, four sons: Don and Roy both of Richland; Dean of Stoutland; and Ken of Waynesville; two brothers: Ralph Watkins of Lebanon and Albert Watkins of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters: Florence Brown, Clinton, Missouri and Esther Black of Richland; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was a sweet Christian mother, loved by her family.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 27, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Doug Shivers officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, Soloist, and DeLores Shadel, Organist.

Burial was in the Mt. Rose memorial park under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Escorts were: Elmer Shivers, Scott Lindsey, Eldon Shivers, Mike Landtroop, Brett Shivers, and Preston Shivers.

Honorary escorts were: Ricky Shivers, Larry Shivers, Sean Lindsey, and Bart Shivers.

James Harold Shipman 1936-1986

James Harold Shipman, son of James and Ida McKinley Wallis Shipman, was born in Camdenton, Missouri on January 25, 1936, and departed this life July 4, 1986 at his home in Richland at the age of 50 years.

“Harold” as he was known to his family and friends was manager for the Kroger Grocery Stores in the Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas areas, for many years.  In 1972 he retired due to health reasons.  He has made his home in the Richland area for the past 10 years.

On August 25, 1982 he was united in marriage with Claudette Howlett.

Harold professed his faith in Jesus Christ in 1979, was baptized and became a member of the Loma Vista Baptist Church in Kansas City.  In January of 1983 he transferred his membership to the First Baptist Church in Richland, and has remained a member there.

Those surviving are his wife Claudette of the home; one son, James David Shipman of Lee Summit, Missouri; three daughters: Debra Carroll and Julie Shipman, both of Kansas City, Missouri; and Tamera Shipman of Butler, Missouri; three step sons: James Howlett of Liberty, Missouri; Russell Howlett of Waynesville, and Dan Howlett of Richland; one sister, Novelene Borgman of Richland; seven grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church on Sunday, July 6, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roger Marshall officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist.

Burial was in the Freedom Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Escorts were:  Harry Fox, Glenn Jones, Carl Lowery, J.M. Wallis, Clay Howlett, and Charley Long.

Honorary escorts were: Members of the Sunday School Class.

Ernest Louis Davis 1968-1986

Ernest Louis Davis, of Route 3, Dixon, was born on April 13, 1968 at Waynesville, a son of Ernest Louis and Gayle Marie Crews Davis, and departed this life at 5:15 p.m., on Monday afternoon, June 16, 1986, at the Rolling Springs Lake which is located eight miles northwest of Dixon in rural Maries County.  Louis was pronounced dead at the scene by Maries County Coroner, David Martin, which ruled his death was due to accidental drowning since the victim had apparently stepped into a hole of water over his head, and he was a non-swimmer.  Louis had attained the age of 18 years, 2 months and 3 days.

Louis had attended the Santee Community Church near Dixon and would have been a senior this coming school year at the Dixon R-1 High School.

Those left to mourn the passing of Louis include: His parents, Ernest and Gayle Davis, of the home near Dixon; two brothers, George Davis and Danny Davis, both of the home; four sisters, Ann Cooper and Fran Raiford, both of Hammond, Indiana, and Paula Davis and Brenda Davis, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Leman and Dorothy Crews, Dixon; maternal great-grandfather, John Schaffner, St. Charles; and many other relatives and friends.

Fond memories of Louis will long be remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were conducted for Louis at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday afternoon, June 19, 1986, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Daniel Wessling, Pastor, Santee Community Church, officiating.  DeWayne Brown sang “Mansion Over The Hilltop” and “In The Sweet By and By” and was accompanied by his daughter, Natalie Brown.

Interment was in the Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.  Pallbearers for Louis were Tracy Beam, Bryan Ramsey, Shane Eberle, Brad Wanns, Craig Sloan and Wally Warner.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ernest Louis Davis Memorial Fund with envelopes being available at the Dixon office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.

Clemmie “Jim” C. Rourk 1918-1986

Clemmie “Jim” C. Rourk was born a son of Ransom Rourk and Minie (Risher) Rourk August 24, 1918 in South Carolina, and he departed this life at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, June 14, 1986 having attained the age of 67 years 7 mos. And 20 days.

He lived most of his young life in the state of South Carolina.  “Jim” as he was known by his many friends enlisted in the United States Army March 31, 1936 serving a total of 21 years with pride and devotion to his country which was evidenced by his receiving numerous service medals and awards.  He retired from the military March 31, 1957 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.  After his retirement from the service he was a well known business man in the Waynesville - St. Robert, Mo. Area, until his health failed.  He was an admirer of nature and the outdoors.

Jim was united in marriage to Irmgard (Katzenmeyer) Rourk October 21, 1965 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

He is survived by his wife Irmgard of the home; 2 sons, Ronald and Freddy Rourk both of the state of California; 2 daughters, Meryl Black of the state of South Carolina and Karen Rourk of the state of California; 2 brothers, Frank Rourk and Perry O. Rourk both of the state of South Carolina; and 1 sister, Corrie Estridge of the state of South Carolina, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Chap. Lindsey Arnold officiating.

Music was provided by Dorothy Moore, organist.

Escorts were: Jack Cruggs, Ken Byers, Bill Fincher, Pete Prewitt, Bill Rippee, Luther Thomas.

Interment was with full military honors in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Waynesville, Mo., under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Charles Ludwig Sankey 1902-1986

Charles Ludwig Sankey of Osage Beach, formerly of Koeltztown, was born on June 19, 1902, at Koeltztown, a son of Otto Maria and Theresia Frances Rennecke Sankey, and departed this life at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, February 1, 1986, in the lake Ozark General Hospital, Osage Beach, following a lengthy illness.  He had attained the age of 83 years, 7 months and 10 days.

He was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown, and had been disabled for most of his life.

A Rosary Service was held for him at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening, February 3, 1986, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with members of the family leading.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for him at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, February 4, 1986, in the St. Boniface catholic Church, Koeltztown, with Msgr. Ralph G. Kutz officiating.

Interment was in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Koeltztown, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

Relatives and friends served as pallbearers.

Spiritual offerings to be applied for Masses according to your preference are preferred by the family of Mr. Sankey, and envelopes may be obtained at the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

He was preceded in death by his father on December 1, 1946; his mother on June 27, 1940; and one brother, Ansgar Sankey.

Ernest Woods 1935-1986

Ernest Woods,age 50, of 1013 5th Avenue, Nebraska City, Nebraska, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital, Nebraska City on March 28th after a long illness.

He was born August 26, 1935 in Nebraska City, Nebraska, the son of Leland and Helen Woods.  He married Mary Lou Rains on January 12, 1957 in Nebraska City.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 35 of Nebraska City, The American legion and the Eagles Club.

He was a 28 year veteran of the U.S. Army.  He obtained rank of Command Sergeant Major.  His last active duty assignment was Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri where he was Commandant of the Drill Sergeant School.  Other assignments were Ft. Mead, Maryland, Ellison AFB, Alaska; west Point, New York; Canal Zone, Panama; Ft. Bliss, Texas and Ft. Carson, Colorado.  He also served one year in Vietnam.  He earned numerous medals during his 28 years in the Army which included the Nebraska National Guard, Army reserves, Kansas National Guard and Active Duty Army.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 31, 1986 at the First Christian Church of Nebraska City.  Military rites were by the American Legion Honor Guard, Post No. 8, of Nebraska City.

The family suggests memorials to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 35 of Nebraska City, Nebraska.

He is survived by his wife, Mary lou of Nebraska City and two sons, Rick Woods of Beatrice, Nebraska and Bob Woods, of Kearney, Nebraska, his daughter-in-law, Tina of Beatrice and granddaughter, Richelle.  Also surviving are his mother, Helen Woods of Nebraska City; his brother, Don Woods of Dunbar, Nebraska and three sisters, Mrs. Gale (Pat) Cameron of Omaha, Nebraska, Karen Carver of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mrs. Dale (Judy) Horstmann of Nebraska City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leland Woods.

Ivan Terwilliger 1912-1986

Ivan Terwilliger, of Eldon, formerly of Vienna, was born on December 24, 1912, in Maries County, a son of Frank E. and Rosetta Terwilliger, and departed this life at 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, February 11, 1986 in the Harry S, Truman Veterans Administration Hospital, Columbia, during heart surgery.  Mr. Terwilliger had attained the age of 73 years, one month and seventeen days.

On January 26, 1945, at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, Mr. Terwilliger entered into active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until December 1, 1945, when he was honorably discharged at Camp Haan, California.  During his military career, Mr. Terwilliger served as a automotive mechanic and was entitled to wear the Victory Medal World War II.  His “Honorable Discharge” is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country during World War II.

Mr. Terwilliger attended the Aurora Springs Baptist Church near Eldon and was a self-employed carpenter for many years.  He built and opened the Wye Motel near Vienna in 1961 and operated his motel business until his retirement in 1977 when he moved from the Vienna community to Eldon where he made his home until his death.

Fond memories of Mr. Terwilliger will long be remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Terwilliger at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, February 15, 1986, in the First Baptist Church, Vienna, with the Reverend Bob Stevenson, Pastor, Aurora Springs Baptist Church, Eldon officiating.

Interment was in the Vienna Cemetery under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

Pallbearers for Mr. Terwilliger were leslie Clark, Steve Clark, Adin Shanks, Floyd Clark, Emil Shanks and Melvin Shanks.

Mr. Terwilliger was preceded in death by his father on May 9, 1942; his mother on July 9, 1929; three brothers, Oran Terwilliger, Leonard Terwilliger and Leman Terwilliger; and two sisters, Mrs. Amy DeYoung and Mrs. Wiona Clark.

Mildred Elizabeth (Barfield) Roberson 1903-1986

Mildred Elizabeth Roberson was born in Kirkwood, Missouri on March 29, 1903, the daughter of Henry and Mary Elizabeth Shockley Barfield and passed away in the Sunset Village in St. Robert on Thursday, February 13, 1986.  She had attained the age of 82 years.

She was united in marriage to William M. Roberson on September 14, 1920 in Vienna and unto this union four sons and one daughter were born.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Vienna and attended as long as her health permitted.  She was a resident of the Sunset Med Center in St. Robert for the last several years and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services were held in the Church of Christ in Vienna on Saturday, February 15, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ted Sewell officiating.  Burial was in the Vienna Cemetery under the direction of the Long Funeral Home of Vienna.

Serving as her pallbearers were her grandsons, John, Jack, Robbie and Jim Roberson, Don Copeland and Wayne Howery.

She is survived by her two sons, Harold Roberson of Waynesville and Charles W. Roberson; one daughter, Louise Barnett Howery of St. Robert; three sisters, Dassa Eads of Kansas City, Gracial Walsworth of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Blanche Sheronick of Walbridge, Ohio; eleven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren with other relatives.

Richard Ray Matheson 1938-1986

Richard Ray Matheson, 48 of Chattanooga, Tennessee was born April 15, 1938 in Chewelah, Washington, the son of Raymond and Irene Dussault Matheson and passed away on August 3, 1986 in Fort Payne, Alabama.

He was employed as a captain by the Tennessee Correctional System in Chattanooga, Tennessee for the past 5 years.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel in Dixon on Thursday, August 7, 1986 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. W. Paul Martin officiating.  Burial was in the Kenner Cemetery.  Organist was Kathy Brandt and Soloist was Hazel Schierbaum.  Serving as his pallbearers were Kenneth Faulkner, Gary Winters, Roger Winters, Velden Butterfield, Tom Guennewig, and Brad Wach.

Those left to mourn his passing include his father and mother, Raymond and Irene Matheson of Dixon; 3 sons, Bill Matheson, Terry Matheson, and Rick Matheson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 2 daughters, Jeannie Hoyt of Imperial, Nebraska and Christine Matheson of Madisonville, Tennessee; 2 step sons Rick Carroll and Art Carroll of Madisonville, Tennessee; 2 step daughters, Darlene Byers and Willadean Rogers of Madisonville, Tennessee; 3 sisters Mildred Butterfield of Hutchison, Kansas, M. Lou Wach of St. Clair and Barbara Guennewig of Troy, Illinois with grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  He was preceded in death by two sons, Lonnie Ray Matheson on Dec. 24, 1977 and Gregory Todd Matheson on July 25, 1986.

Mrs. Marilyn Sue (Myers) Yantz 1950-1986

Memorial services for Mrs. Marilyn Sue Yantz, 35, of Kansas City, Kansas were held June 4, 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church.  Graveside services at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery preceded the church services.

Mrs. Yantz was found Sunday, June 1, in the Missouri River after a canoe accident May 24 on the Kansas River.

She was born in August of 1950, at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and had lived in Kansas City, Kansas 31 years.  She was a secretary for the regional manager of Jeans West.  Mrs. Yantz was a member of the Community Unity Church and a member of the Gateway Seminars.

Surviving are her husband, David C. Yantz, and three sons: David Charles Yantz, Daniel Joseph Yantz, and Eric Matthew Yantz, all of the home; her mother, Mrs. Edna Myers of Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers: Charles Franklin Myers, Jr. of Wichita and family; James Patrick Myers and family of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and a sister, Mrs. Lyndia Williams and family of Richland, Missouri.  She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Franklin Myers.

Sidney Pallarito 1915-1986

Sidney Pallarito was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 4, 1915, the son of James and Erma Hess Pallarito and passed away in the Osage Beach Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri on May 25, 1986.  He had attained the age of 70 years.

Heserved in World War II with the United States Army, was a member of the Augusta V.F.W. and a member of the Local No. 527 Cement Masons Union.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 29, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating.  Burial was in the Dixon Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Johncey of the home in Gravois Mills; two daughters, Dorothy Ann Hilse and Nancy Lee Nelson of St. Louis; two sisters, Marie Humphrey of Columbia and Sally Curtis of St. Louis; three brothers, David Matthews and Henry Matthews of California and Carl Matthews of Kansas; five grandchildren with other relatives and friends.

Virginia Viola (Phelps) Pruitt 1916-1986

Virginia Viola Pruitt of Owensville died December 24 in Jefferson City.  She was 69 years old.

Mrs. Pruitt was born January 13,1916 in Osage County, the daughter of the late Albert and Gertha (Shockley) Phelps.  She married John Albert Pruitt December 2, 1939.  He survives.  Other survivors include: one son, James Eugene Pruitt, Fredericktown; two daughters: Phyllis Rae Jett, Bland; and Mary Jane Butler, Belle; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Wayne Phelps, Overland; two sisters: Marie Pruitt, Richland; and Fern Kuhne, Owensville; one uncle, Cecil Shockley, Union.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Eugene Franklin Phelps; and Floyd Allen Phelps; and one granddaughter, Mary Leann Wilbanks.

Mrs. Pruitt was a member of the College Hill Baptist Church.

Services were held December 27 at the College Hill Baptist Church.

Burial was in the Bland Union Cemetery.

Clarence Allen Parker 1921-1986

Clarence Allen Parker was born in Cuba, Missouri on March 18, 1921, the son of Benjamin and Lenner Ann Dodd Parker and passed away suddenly on January 3, 1986.  He had attained the age of 64 years.

He was united in marriage to Roste Fern Murry on December 30, 1941 and unto this union five sons and two daughters were born.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dixon and worked for the Gascosage Electric Company from 1954 until 1975 as a line foreman.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel on Monday, January 6, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating.  Burial was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long Funeral Home of Dixon.

Pallbearers were John Roberson, Jerry Milligan, Stan Hayes, David Manes, Jim Malone and Steve Hauck.

He is survived by his wife, Fern of the home; three sons and their wives, Bob and Susan Parker of Cleburne, Texas; Virgil and Janet Parker of Dixon; and Roy and Kyong Parker of Osan Air Base, Korea; two daughters and their husbands, Virginia and Larry Blanchard and Doris and Bill Howser of Dixon; nine grandchildren, Jenny, Benjamin, Megan, Brad, Steven, Tommy and Charlie Parker, Misty Blanchard and Whitney Howser; three sisters, Easter Miller and Elsie Ash of Sullivan, and Lillie Coffman of Salem; two brothers, Herman Parker of DeSoto and Claude Parker of Salem; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Lenner Parker, two brothers, Van and Willie Parker and two sons, Richard and Jimmy.

Maude May (Hamilton) Crews 1893-1986

Maude May Crews was born in Crocker on July 6, 1893 the daughter of Wade and Jane Cole Hamilton and passed away in the Phelps County Hospital in Rolla on March 21, 1986.  She had attained the age of 92 years,8 months and 15 days.

She was united in marriage to Medford S. Crews on December 5, 1916 and unto this union 6 children were born.

She was a member of the Mitchell Chapel Methodist Church.  She worked at Ft. Wood Hospital for several years and when she retired she enjoyed her flowers, gardening, and her family.  She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, March 25, 1986 with Charles Pitts officiating.  Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Roger, Jerry, Gary, Danny, Darrell and Medford D. Crews.

Mrs. Crews is survived by her husband Medford S. Crews of the home, 3 sons, Willis of Crocker, Don of Hancock and Gene of Beulah, Missouri, 2 daughters, Wilma Kemp of Brookings, Oregon and Mildred Louise Crews of Dixon, 1 brother Clifford Hamilton of Detroit, Michigan, 1 sister, Ida Hamilton Crews of Springfield,17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren with other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Willard M. Crews and 4 brothers, Oscar, Burt, John, and James Hamilton.

Merrel John Payne 1910-1986

Merrel John Payne, son of Lige and DeLitha Kissinger Payne, was born in Swedeborg, on November 16, 1910 and departed this life on July 20, 1986 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy five years.

On March 4, 1939, Merrel was united in marriage with Bonnie Lundstrom, and to this union was born three sons, all surviving.

As a young man, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ, and became a member of the Swedeborg Christian Church, where he remained a member.

Merrel has farmed in the Pulaski County area most all his life.  He was a member of the Richland Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star, and for many years, served on the Swedeborg School Board and was Commissioner of the Special Road District.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 23, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. with Ministers John Davenport and Rev. Roger Marshall officiating, under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel.

Resting place was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Escorts were: Gerald Payne, Ralph Peterson, Donald Witt, Carl Peterson, Lindell Roam, and Phillip York.

Honorary escorts were: Ralph Hightower, Jim Bill Goforth, Luke Brickey, Bud Witt, Charles P. Goforth and Ralph King.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home; three sons, Merrel Lee and Kerry, both of Richalnd, Bryce of Eldorado Springs, Missouri; four sisters, Grace Manes of Swedeborg, Cora Harris of Ashland, Missouri, Bertha Peterson and Eula York, both of Richland; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter; other relatives and friends.

Merrel is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Earl, and two sisters, Ethel eckman and Carmel Roam.

Irvin Wesley Good 1922-1986

Irvin Wesley Good was born in Buffalo, Oklahoma on July 14, 1922 the son of Andy and Leona Good and passed away in the Veterans Hospital in Columbia on May 29, 1986.  He had attained the age of 63 years.

He is survived by his wife Edith of the home, 2 daughters, Paulette Spitler of Marthasville, Mo., and Leona Pruett of Rolla; 3 sons, James Good of Versaillas, Allen Keith Good of St. Charles and John Smith of Dixon; 2 step sons, Ted Smith of Columbia and Robert Smith of Jefferson City; 1 step daughter Anita Roberson of Jackson, Michigan; 10 grandchildren, 4 sisters, Maxine Mobley of Cedar City, Mo., Willie Kelley of Monett, Hattie Dicus of Federal Way, Washington, Nettie Roberts of San Point, Idaho; 1 brother Walter Good of Dixon.  He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Larry Good and an infant son.

Irvin was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Leonard Wood and a veteran of W.W. II.  He was a member of the Crocker V.F.W and the Disabled American Veterans.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 31, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Wain Ward officiating.  Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery.  Serving as his pallbearers were Rusty Woods, Kent Bassett, Darrin Bacon, Tommy Cross, Dick Walker, and Jim Caldwell.

Doris Elaine (Browning) Powers 1917-1986

Doris Elaine Browning Powers was born July 31, 1917, in Senath, Dunklin County, Missouri.  She was the third daughter of Herbert and Mattie Hart Browning.  Doris left this life on February 27, 1986 at the age of 68 years.

She was united in marriage to Raymond L. Powers on March 29, 1936.  They were the proud parents of five children, two of whom preceded her in death.

Doris and Raymond lived all their married life in or near Richland.  Doris was a long time member of the Richland United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully on many committees and held many offices and positions.  She was President of the United Methodist Women.  She loved her church and the people in it.  Doris was a member of the church choir and sang duets with many people, including her lifelong friend Ginny Jones and her granddaughter Anda Powers.

Doris worked for attorney Claude Wood for 16 years as a secretary and bookkeeper.

Doris believed, all her life, that those “good old days” were the best, despite the hardships and deprivations people suffered for lack of modern miracles like electricity, antibiotics, and automobiles.  She felt that despite the conveniences, the modern world is lacking in traditional family values of love, togetherness, strength, and the willingness to love and help our neighbor.

Doris embodied these values, and instilled them in her children.  To us, she was the loving strength and wisdom, totally devoted to her family.

In the treasures of love, laughter, and music, the cherished legacy of the past, and the future promise of her children, Doris Powers was a very wealthy woman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one son Gary Ray, one infant daughter Julia Ann, and one sister Melba Browning Vaughn.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond; two sons: Jay and Alan; and one daughter, Judy Ashworth, all of Richland; three sisters: Lois Brooks of Poplar Bluff; Jaunita Moales of Kansas City; and Anne Warren of York, Pennsylvania; two brothers: Bud Browning of Irvine, California; and Morris Browning of Senath, Missouri; a grandmother, Maude Hart, of Kennett, Missouri; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.  She also had many nieces, nephews, aunts, and a host of friends.  She is and forever will be, greatly loved and missed.

Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Beal) Odom 1915-1986

Sarah Elizabeth Odom, better known to everyone as “Lizzie” was born in Miller County, Missouri on February 17, 1915 the daughter of George and Mary Rook Beal and passed away in the Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City on Sunday, June 22, 1986.  She had attained the age of 71 years.

She was united in marriage to Sidney Odom on December 4, 1937 and unto this union 2 sons were born.  He preceded her in death on July 21. 1971.

Lizzie is survived by her 2 sons and daughter in laws, Dorse and Patricia Odom of Rogersville and David and Lori Odom of Vienna, 1 grandson Allen of Rogersville and 1 granddaughter Melinda of Vienna, 4 sisters, Clara Helton, Vivian Forbis andd Bessie Rowden of Iberia and Ella Reischling of Dixon, 7 brothers, Edgar, Richard, Lloyd and Otto Beal of Dixon, Wilmer Beal of East St. Louis, Leonard Beal and Bennie Beal of El Dorado, Kansas with other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers, Charles and Elvie.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Home in Dixon on Wednesday, June 25, 1986 at 11:00 a.m. with Carrell Day officiating.  Burial was in the Seaton Cemetery.  Serving as her pallbearers were Larry Bassett, Tommy, Mike, and Norman Nichols, Elwood Beal, Troy Stokes and J.D. Fritchey.

Barbara E. (Williams) Portell 1919-1986

Barbara E. Portell was born in Bloodland, Missouri on January 23, 1919.  She was the daughter of William L. and Francis (Harmon) Williams.  She departed this life May 25, 1986 after attaining the age of 67 years, four months, and two days.

Barbara was an LPN and had served in the hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and other areas during her working years.  She enjoyed helping people very much.

Barbara had resided in the Pulaski County area for the last few years.

Those left to mourn are her husband, James, of rural Richland, Missouri; one son, LeRoy Ragan and daughter-in-law, Dixie of Sullivan, Missouri; two brothers: Dolph Williams of Dixon, Missouri; and Claude Williams of the State of Illinois; two sisters: Alma Holtsclaw of the State of Florida, and Essie Gaddy of Dixon, Missouri; four grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; friends and relatives.

Barbara will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening, May 27, 1986 after 4:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Othal L. Hodson officiating.

Donald Dean Price 1967-1986

Donald Dean Price, son of Jack and Vicky Hannon Price, was born August 28, 1967 at Troy, Missouri, and departed this life January 18, 1986 at the age of 18 years, following an automobile accident.

“Don” as he was known by his friends, graduated from Richland High School in 1985.  He was a member of the Richland FFA.  After graduation he was employed at Dave’s Sewing Machines, in Camdenton, Missouri.

He loved the out-of-doors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Those surviving are his parents, Jack and Vicky Price of Richland; three brothers: Dennis of Eldon; Jackie and David of the home; and one sister, Debra of the home; his paternal grandmother, Virginia Price of Moscow Mills, Missouri and his maternal grandparents, David and Lucille Hanon of Elsberry, Missouri; other relatives, and a host of many friends.

Don is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, George Price, and one older brother Thomas.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 22, 1986 at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel, in Richland, Missouri with Pryor Ray Prewett officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, Soloist and DeLores Shadel, Organist.

Burial was in the Anderson Hill Cemetery, Troy, Missouri, under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Chapel.

Kimberley Easton d. 5 August, 1986

Kimberley Easton, 5 day old daughter of Bernard L. and Mi Yon Easton, of Waynesville, passed away Tuesday morning, August 5, 1986 at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics at Columbia, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Chaplain George J. Leatherwood officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, August 8 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Burial will be in the Waynesville memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Survivors include her parents of Waynesville; one brother, Joseph Easton of the home; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack M. Easton of Springfield, Virginia and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tae Won Kim of Iri City, Korea.

Dr. Clara Elizabeth (Bradford) Harding 1888-1986

Dr. Clara Elizabeth Bradford Harding was born November 10, 1888 in Pulaski County, Mo.  She was the fourth of the nine children of James and Martha Bradford, all of whom preceded her in death.

She attended schools in Bloodland and Springfield and was a teacher for several years.  Later she became a Doctor of Chiropractic and practiced in Ash Grove and Springfield for more than 50 years.

She was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church, The Business and Professional Womens Organization and P.E.O. and was active in Democrat Organizations in Greene County.

Until her recent illness, she was active, often walking to the church to meet with the ladies who made quilts and comforts for the poor.  Her interest were in her family, friends, and neighbors, all of which mourn her passing.

She died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, January 25, in Cox Hospital North, in Springfield, Mo.

Services are at Greenlawn North, Springfield, Mo., January 29, Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lora Harding, Neosho, Mo., six grandchildren, Julie White and Edward J. both of Springfield, Francis Ellis, Gig Harbor, Washington, Linda Perez and Mary Ann Harding of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and Gregory, Little Rock, Arkansas, nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her son, Edward, passed away three years ago.

Dale Allen Pennebaker 1952-1986

Dale Allen Pennebaker of Springfield, formerly of Dixon, was born on September 18, 1952, at St. Louis, the son of Charles Eugene and Norma May Crane Pennebaker, and departed this life at 1:30 a.m. on Friday morning, January 3, 1986 at the residence of a friend near Lebanon.  He had attained the age of 33 years, 3 months, and 16 days.

He was united in marriage six years ago at Lebanon to the former Miss Melody Dawn Spradling.

He was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church near Dixon, having been baptized at an early age, and he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  He had been employed in dairy farming for most of his working life.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon, January 6, 1986, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Frank Burger, First Baptist Church, Hermitage, and the Rev. C.M. Howell, Wildwood Baptist Church, Joplin, officiating.

Interment was in the Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy Jones, Jimmy Brandt, Jackie Crane, Gary Don Hendrix, Troy Dean Hendrix, and Kenny Efpink.

Those left to mourn his passing include: his wife, Melody Pennebaker, Springfield; one son, Rex Allen Pennebaker, Dixon; one daughter, Jennifer Dawn Pennebaker, Springfield; his parents, Charles and Norma Pennebaker, Dixon; two sisters, Lynn Shelton and Myra Quick, both of Dixon; maternal grandparents, Corbett and Oma Crane, Dixon; uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Frocie Lee Pennebaker.

Clifford Claude Pruitt 1906-1986

Clifford Claude Pruitt, son of Thomas Washington and Bertha Mae Dean Pruitt, was born June 17, 1906 in Pulaski County, and departed this life at 1:25 p.m., January 27, 1986 at the Breech Medical Center in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of 79 years, seven months, and 10 days.

On May 28, 1927 he was united in marriage to Imo Fairy Carrol, in Richland, Missouri, and to this union was born six children all surviving.

He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Ray, Roy, Wilbur, Ernest, and Kermit, and two sisters: Lora Adkinson, and Oma Busick.

Clifford accepted Christ as a young man, and attended the Independence Baptist Church at Hazelgreen, Missouri.

He has lived and farmed in the surrounding area all of his life.  Clifford also worked for 18 years as a foreman at the Independent Stave Company in Lebanon, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife Imo of the home, five sons: Clifford Jr., Breckenridge, Texas; Richard, Chelsea, Oklahoma; Bobby, Welling, Oklahoma; James, Eugene, Missouri; two daughters: Barbara Massey, Defiance, Missouri; Sharon Kay Oursbourn, Richland, Missouri; one sister, Lillian Hammer, Lebanon, Missouri; 23 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 30, 1986, 1:30 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joe Fulkerson officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, Soloist, and Delores Shadel, Organist.

Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland.

Roberta Blue Olson 1914-1986

Roberta Blue Olson, of Dixon, was born on October 31, 1914, at Newburg, a daughter of Perry William and Amanda Ruth Hamilton Blue, and departed this life at 6:25 p.m., on Sunday evening, March 30, 1986, in the Ellis Fischel State Cancer Center, Columbia, following a lengthy illness.  Mrs. Olson had attained the age of 71 years, 4 months and 29 days.

Prior to her retirement on December 22, 1967, Mrs. Olson had been employed as a Personnel Administrators of the United States Army for twenty-seven years.  Mrs. Olson was a member of the Gasconade Baptist Church near Dixon having accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and following her Lord in Baptism.  Fond and precious memories of Mrs. Olson will long be remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Olson at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 1986, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Bill J. Elam, Pastor of Gasconade Baptist Church, officiating.  Mrs. Carmen Hauck played an organ rendition of “How Great Thou Art” for the funeral service.

Interment was in the Roach Cemetery near Newburg under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.  Active pallbearers for Mrs. Olson were John Bill Mitchell, Bill Ousley, Joey Blue, Mark White, Jess Bunch and Jesse Bunch Jr., and honorary pallbearers were Joe Blue, Guy Bowman, Lloyd Bunch, Gene Blue, Don Edward Bowman and Robin Mitchell.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Olson include: Two brothers, Joseph Lester Blue II, Newburg, and Eugene Blue, Bourbon; six sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Coleman, Lebanon, Mrs. Leona Ousley, Dixon, Mrs. Lorrane Bunch, Bethalto, Illinois, Mrs. Katherine Bowman, Dixon, Mrs. Betty Ann Giffin, St. Louis, and Mrs. Hope Mitchell, Dixon; and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Olson was preceded in death by her father on December 25, 1954; her mother on October 1, 1977; and one sister, Miss Peggy Lou Blue.

Viola Serle Shewmaker 1902-1986

Viola Shewmaker was born in Dallas County on January 20, 1902, and departed this life on January 4, 1986 at the age of 83 years.

On May 7, 1932 he was united in marriage with Nelle Lea and they have enjoyed 531/2 years together.  To this union was born one daughter, who survives.

Serle worked for Shell Pipeline Corporation for 40 years, including assignments in Maracaibo, Venezeula and 13 ½ months in Indonesia, before retirement in 1963.

He has been a longtime member of the Richland United Methodist Church and very active in community projects over the years.  In 1926, Serle joined the Masonic Lodge; the Scottish Rite; and became a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine for over 55 years, and a member of the Order of The Eastern Star.

Serle enjoyed his home and working in his yard.  He was always ready to lend a helping hand when someone was in need.

He is survived by his wife Nelle of the home; one daughter; Kathy Thybony and son-in-law Bill Thybony of Reston, Virginia; one brother: Clifford and one sister: Norma Lane, both of Buffalo, Missouri; three step-grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Serle is remembered by everyone as being kind, loving, generous and gentle.

Services were held Tuesday, January 7, 1986, 1:30 p.m. at the Richland United Methodist Church with Rev. John Appling officiating.

Bradley Lewis Clark 1981-1986

Bradley Lewis Clark was born in Columbia, Missouri on April 9, 1981 and passed away in the University of Missouri Med Center in Columbia following a car accident.  He had attained the age of 5 years.

He is survived by his mother Kathy Clark of Crocker, his father Clifton Hooker of Richland, 5 brothers, Randy Ellis and Jason Clark of the home, Ricky, Stephen and Paul Hooker of Richland, 1 sister Sandy Reed of Camdenton, his grandparents, Jim and Darlene Singleton of Crocker, Ruby Hooker and Tina Head of Richland and Ada Plemmons of Waynesville with aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  He will be sadly missed.

Graveside services were held in the Crocker Cemetery on Wednesday, August 6, 1986 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Billy Claiborn officiating.  Burial was in the Crocker Cemetery, all under the direction of the Long Funeral Home of Crocker.

Bobby Joe Henson 1958-1986

Bobby Joe Henson, son of Bob and Shirley Henson, was born in Waynesville, Missouri on June 7, 1958, and departed this life February 13, 1986 at his home in rural Richalnd.

“Joe” as he was known by his family and friends, attended Richland schools from 1972 until he graduated in 1976.  In 1980 he joined the United States Army and served until 1984.  He was presently employed at Witmor Farms.

As a young boy, Joe became a member of the Richland United Methodist Church and has remained a member there.

Those surviving include his parents: Bob and Shirley Henson of Richland; one son B.J. of Richland, and one daughter Ada Lee of Peoria, Illinois; his natural mother, Imogene Wilson of Lebanon; two brothers: Mikel of Richland, Erwin of Sanger, Texas; one sister Vickie Crismon of Crocker; a half brother Tom Wilson and a half sister Marie Stretch both of Lebanon; and his grandparents, Erwin and Velma Trietsch of Flowermound, Texas and Gertie Durham of Richland; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert and Ella Henson, and his grandfather, Charlie Durham.

Funeral services were held at the Richland United Methodist Church Sunday, February 16, 1986, at 2:30 p.m. with John Appling and Elvis Pentecost officiating.

Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Robert Gibson 1926-1986

Robert Gibson was born January 5, 1926 at Niangua, Missouri.  He was the son of Louis and Lucy Bullock Gibson.  He departed this life June 30, 1986 having attained the age of 60 years, 5 months, and 25 days.

He attended school at Waynesville and entered the army in 1942 during World War II and served 3 years in Europe.  He was united in marriage to Rotha Nell Halford on January 1, 1946 and they shared 40 years together, and to this union 5 children were born.  He worked at Ft. Leonard Wood in the motor pool under civil service until he retired in 1982 with 32 years.  He was also in partnership with his brother in Gibson Brothers Garage for 15 years at Laquey, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife Rotha, Rt. 2, Richland, Mo.; 5 children, Robert K. Gibson, of Mountain Home, Ark., Sheila Odom of Orange, Tx., Richard C. Gibson, of Dallas, Tx., Teresa Alkire, of laquey, Mo., and Janene Elizey of Laquey, Mo., 9 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Roy, Gene, and Bill of Laquey, Mo. And Junior of Kansas City, Mo.; 2 sisters Alma Prewett of Waynesville, Mo., and Thelma O’Nell of Cleveland, Tx.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father and 2 brothers Cecil and Russell.

Funeral services for Mr. Gibson were held July 2, 1986 at the Idumea Baptist Church with Rev. Don Martin and Rev. Russell Randolph pastor of the Idumea Baptist Church officiating.  Music was provided by Dorothy Moore, Pianist, solos by Iva Mae Case and Charles Folkert.  Serving as Pallbearers were Steven Kelsey, Shannon Kelsey, Charley Bench, Tracy Gibson, Darold Wieners, Sr.  Honorary Pallbearers were Charles Hobbs, Howard Slawson, Fred Gibson, and Curtis Halford.  Interment was in the Idumea Baptist Church Cemetery.  Services were under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Nanna Pearl (Farris) Kelley 1895-1986

Nanna Pearl Kelley was born July 29, 1895 at Wildwood, Missouri, a daughter of George Washington Farris and Amanda Jane Rickerson Farris.  She departed this life May 26, 1986 at the age of 90 years, nine months, 27 days.

Pearl was united in marriage on November 9, 1918 to John Emmett Kelley and to this union 10 children were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Emmett Kelley and four sons: Emery Lee, Willis Everol, Paul Woodrow, and Roy David.

Pearl gave her life to Christ many years ago, and united with the Body of Christ, being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, unto which she  was faithful until her death.

Those left to mourn her passing include her sons: John of National City, California; Donnally of Largo, Florida; Clyde of Crocker, Missouri; Kenneth, Lloyd, and Junior of Waynesville, Missouri; her daughter, Bonnie Lammers of Lawton, Oklahoma; 44 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; many relatives and friends.

Mrs. Kelley had nine sons who served their country in the armed forces during the Second World War and the Korean Conflict.

Pearl will be sadly missed by all.

Visitation was held Wednesday, May 28, 1986 after 4:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Willard Frazer officiating.

Harvey Ernest Nickels Jr. 1923-1986

Harvey Ernest Nickels Jr., son of Harvey E. Nickels Sr. and Eliza Johnson Nickels, was born in Pulaski County on May 24,1923, and departed this life March 19, 1986 in Columbia, Missouri.

Dr. Nickels attended Waynesville Schools and graduated in 1941.  He was united in marriage with Wanda Lea Ferguson on August 10, 1941, and to this union was born three sons, all surviving.  Dr. Nickels was united in marriage with Iris Cohn on May 15, 1971.  In March of 1979 he was married to Rita Black.

He was a member of the American Academy of Osteopathic Surgeons, of Wanesville Masonic Lodge, the Fort Leonard Wood - Pulaski County Shrine Club and a member of several local saddle clubs.

In 1942 he entered the United States Air Force, and served his country during World War II, where he was a tail gunner, stationed in Italy.  He was injured in a plane crash in 1945 and soon returned to the states.  He then owned and operated the Laquey store and managed the Laquey Post Office for a number of years, until medical school became his real desire.

Attending Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, he graduated in 1954, and served his residency in Carl Junction from September of 1954 until March of 1955.  Dr. Nickels then returned to Pulaski County where he has practiced medicine ever since.  He was instrumental in providing Pulaski County with good medical care and by his continued support and hard work also provided Pulaski County with an excellent medical facility, Pulaski County Memorial Hospital.

Those surviving include his wife Rita of Waynesville; three sons, Gary Nickels of Waynesville, Darrell Nickels of Waynesville, and Dr. Terry Nickels of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one step son, Dr. Joey Cohn of Springfield; one step daughter Chrisy Cohn of Springfield; one brother Wilbur Nickels of Richland; one sister Thelma Fisher of Richland; seven grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Iris, two brothers, James and Lee and two infant brothers, and one sister Irene Berger.

Winnie Francis (Ballard) Wheeler 1886-1985

Winnie Francis Wheeler was born a daughter of Bland Nixon Ballard and Elizabeth Frances (Bradford) Ballard, January 17, 1886, in Pulaski County in Missouri, and she departed this life 30 December 30, 1985 at Waynesville, Missouri having attained the age of 99 years, 11 months, and 13 days.

She was united in marriage to Luna Wheeler August 28, 1904 and to this union two children were born.  She accepted Christ and was baptized, and at the time of her passing was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church in Waynesville, Missouri.  Winnie was a member of the Harmony Home Extension Club, and was a life-long resident of Pulaski County in Missouri.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by one son, Clyde Wheeler of Waynesville, Missouri and one daughter, Helen Routh of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Neal Ballard of Rolla, Missouri; three grandchildren, Bill Wheeler of Lebanon, Missouri, Judy Beaver of Durant, Oklahoma, and Mary Lou Watson of St. Louis, Missouri; nine great grandchildren, Hallie Kinsley, Jeff Kinsley, David Wheeler, Gerry Darnell, Joel Watson, Scott Watson, Kenny Watson, Sue Goddard, and Jan Radel; six great great grandchildren, Sammy Alfano, Jeff Alfano, Amy Radel, Adam Radel, Ben Watson, and Timothy Watson, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters, and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 2, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Lee Schaffer officiating.

Music was furnished by organist Mary Lou Long and soloist, Janell Walters.

Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Waynesville, Missouri under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Claude Lester Long, Sr. 1913-1986

Claude Lester Long, Sr., of Dixon, was born on November 12, 1913, at Dixon, a son of Joseph and Lucy Oss Long, and departed this life at 9:25 p.m. on Saturday evening, April 12, 1986, at the residence of his daughter, Anna Ruth, Route 1, Dixon.  He had been ill with cancer for two years and had attained the age of 72 years and five months.

He was first united in marriage on March 20, 1930, to the former Miss Gladys Emma Belle, and to this union, five children were born.  Mrs. Long preceded her husband in death on September 19, 1976.  He was later united in marriage on February 7, 1979 at St. Robert, to the former Mrs. Lena Mildred Hale Martin.

He was a faithful member of the Sheppard Baptist Church near Dixon where at the time of his death he was a deacon and had served as Sunday School Superintendent and Church Training Director.  He had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal saviour and followed his Lord in baptism in 1939 at First Baptist Church in Dixon.  He retired in 1970 from Ft. Leonard Wood Post Engineers where he had worked in maintenance for over thirty years.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Long of the home; one son, Claude L. Long, Jr., Rolla; four daughters, Mrs. Anna Ruth Manees, Dixon; Mrs. Ella Mae Dake, Springfield; Mrs. Roxie Lee Southard, Rolla, and Mrs. Clara Farran, Manchester; one step-daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hughes, Springfield; seven stepsons, Bill Martin, St. Louis, Tommy Martin, Springfield, Bobby Martin, Tipton, Stanley Martin and Gary Martin, both of Dixon, and Ralph Martin and Terry Martin, both of O’Fallon; three brothers, Everett Long and Raymond Long, both of Dixon, and Emmitt Long, Tucson, Arizona; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; twenty-three step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Fond and precious memories of Mr. Long will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, April 15, 1986, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Lindell Shelden, Pastor of Sheppard Baptist Church, and Rev. LeRoy Tucker, Rolla, officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

William Lee "Billy Lee" Doyel 1955-1986

William Lee Doyel, better known to everyone as "Billy Lee," was born in Kansas City, Mo. July 19,
1955, the son of William and Eula Stokes Doyel. He passed away at the University of Missouri hospital in
Columbia, Mo. May 3, 1986. He attained the age of 30 Years.

Billy Lee graduated from the Maries County High School in Vienna, Mo. in 1973. He was presently working for Mitchell Construction and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.



Funeral Mass was prayed in the Guardian Angel Church in Brinktown, Mo. Tuesday, May 6 at
11 a.m. with Father Joseph Boland officiating. Burial followed in the Guardian Angel Church Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers at the services were William Bauer, Ronnie Bauer, Eddie Joe Bauer, Danny Rollins, Troy Stokes and Robbie Baker.

Rosary was prayed Monday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Long Funeral Chapel in Dixon.

Billy Lee is survived by his mother, Eula Doyel of the home; three daughters, Tina Lynn, Angela Lee and Tonya Renee; one brother, Larry Doyel of Pacific, two sisters; Kathie Kitchens and Joanna Doyel of
Holts Summitt, Mo.; aunts; uncles; cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father William Doyel who passed away May 11. 1981.

Evelyn (Ivey) Eason 1896-1985

Evelyn Ivey Eason of rural Dixon was born on April 4, 1986 in Gwinett County of Buford, Georgia.  The daughter of Reynold and Mary Ivey and departed this life on Monday afternoon, December 30, 1985 at the Waynesville Nursing Center in Waynesville, Missouri where she had been a resident since October.  Mrs. Eason had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 89 years, 8 months, and 26 days.

She was united in marriage to Eugene Eason in Buford, Georgia, and to this union was born six children: four sons; Eugene, Jr. and Randolph Eason of Norfolk, Virginia, Charles Eason of Newport News, Virginia, Robert Eason of Baltimore, Maryland; two daughters: Helen E. Parker of Capitol Heights, Maryland, and Evelyn E. Revere of Dixon, Missouri.  She lived a full Christian life.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 5, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Elder Rachael Proctor officiating.  Music was provided by the Choir from the New Life Holiness Church.  A poem was read by Nelze Batchler.  Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Waynesville, Missouri.  Those serving as escorts were family members.

She leaves to mourn a great deal of friends and relatives; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, mother and father, five sisters, and two brothers.

Charles Raymond Vaught 1913-1986

Charles Raymond Vaught of Dixon, formerly of Greencastle, Indiana, was born on November __, 1913, at Holstein, Iowa, a son of Charles Oscar and Bessie Brady Vaught, and departed this life at 4:30 a.m., on Monday morning, July 21, 1986, in the Charles E. Still Hospital, Jefferson City.  Mr. Vaught had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 72 years, 8 months and 13 days.

Mr. Vaught was united in marriage on September 22, 1931, at Marshall, Illinois, to the former Miss Doris Vivian Dixon, and to this union, four children were born.  Mr. Vaught was preceded in death by his wife on March 20, 1985; one daughter, Miss Alberta Vaught, on May 24, 1963; and two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Mossteller and Mrs. Harriett Koch.

Mr. Vaught was a member of the Victory Hill Baptist Church near Dixon and had worked as a Foreman for U.S. Steel, Gary, Indiana, for thirty-five years prior to his retirement in September of 1956.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Vaught include: One son, Herbert Vaught, Dixon; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Jeanne Morales, Portage, Indiana, and Mrs. Vivian Rae Jones, Iberia; two brothers, Dean Vaught, State of Indiana, and Merle Vaught, State of Florida; two half-brothers, Jim Vaught and Kenneth Vaught, both of the State of Indiana; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Parker, Mrs. Beulah Murphy, and Mrs. Helen Moreland, all of the State of Indiana; twenty-four grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Florence Christine Wieners 1970-1986

Florence Christine Wieners, daughter of Darold and Zella Crossland Wieners was born in Waynesville, Missouri on May 28, 1970 and departed this life June 21, 1986 at the age of 16 years.

Florence professed her faith in Jesus Christ on May 4, 1980 and was a very active member of the New Friendship Baptist Church where she attended regularly.  She sang in the church choir and often sang specials with her mother and sister, and also taught a children’s Sunday School class.  She displayed her love and devotion to her Lord every day of her life through her many kind deeds and special ways with her family and friends.

She attended Laquey School, where she had just completed her Sophomore year, and enjoyed participating in school plays.

Those surviving include her parents, Darold and Zella Wieners of the home; one brother, Darold Jr., of Waynesville; four sisters: Tammy Hicks and Mary Hendrix both of Waynesville, Jennifer of the home, and Lori Kelly of Key West, Florida; her paternal grandmother, Annie May Wieners of Waynesville, and maternal grandfather, Johnny Crossland of Waynesville; other relatives and a host of friends.

Florence is preceded in death by her Grandmother Crossland and her Grandfather Wieners.

Funeral services were from Colonial Funeral Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 1986 with Harvey Dye officiating.

Clara Verena (Tanner) Hill 1901-1986

Clara Verena Hill, daughter of Joseph and Annie Mae Manes Tanner, was born February 18,1901 at Laquey, Missouri and departed this life February 23, 1986 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 85 years.

As a young girl Clara professed her faith in Jesus Christ, was baptized and became a member of the Idumea Baptist Church.  She later moved her membership to the Grace Baptist Church, in Richland.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five brothers: Howard, Joe, Hubert, Virgil, and Ernest; one infant brother Benny; and one infant sister Lima.

Those surviving include two sisters: Lorene Clutts of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and Nettie Hill of Richland; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 25, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. at the Idumea Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Randolph officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist, and DeLores Shadel, organist.

Burial was in the Idumea Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Clifford Matt Nelson 1912-1986

Clifford Matt Nelson, 73, who was with the Boy Scouts' of America for 56 years, died Saturday in a Forth Worth hospital after a short illness.

Funeral was at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington.  Burial was in Moore Memorial
Gardens.

Nelson was born in Buffalo, Missouri.  He had been an oil field worker in Borger before moving to Arlington in 1950 when he went to work for General Motors as a powerhouse engineer. He retired in 1977.

 Nelson was a veteran Scout leader who received both the Silver Beaver Award and the George Meany Award.  He served as committee chairman of Troops 186, 377, 446 and 690. He had served in several Scout district offices, including that of unit commissioner of the Cross Timbers District.  He was a member of University Baptist Church in Arlington and was a 32nd degree Mason.


Survivors include a son. John C. Nelson of Arlington; two sisters: Helen Nelson McGee of Richland, Missouri; and Claudine Nelson Kimble of Kennewick, Washington.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Anna Nelson - long time residents of Richland, Missouri and his wife Donna of Arlington, Texas. Also three half brothers and two half sisters.

Death occurred Saturday, January 18, 1986, Fort Worth, Texas. 

Clifford graduated from Richland High School - Class of 1932. He will be remembered as an outstanding basketball player during his High School career as a forward on the teams.

As a World War II Veteran - he served in the United States Marine Corp - South Pacific - and received the Purple Heart Medal being wounded in the line of duty. 

While a student in Richland, he became interested in Scouting. Ross Dodd - always interested in the
welfare of the young people - was his Scout Master and Clifford learned the importance of the youth of America manifested in his continuing interest in the Boy Scouts of America.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Henry Clement Jeter 1907-1986

Henry Clement Jeter, son of Joseph and Ella Bruns Jeter, was born in Oklahoma on June 5, 1907 and departed this life March 16, 1986 in Lebanon, Missouri following a lengthy illness.

He was united in marriage with Vera Hawkins, on April 26, 1933, and to this union was born two children, both surviving.

“Clem” as he was known by his family and friends, was a member of the Hazelgreen United Methodist Church.

In 1973 he retired from Post Engineers at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri.  He was a member of Richland Masonic Lodge No. 385 for a number of years.

Those surviving include his wife Vera, of Richland; one son, Joseph William Jeter of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Carrollee Brown of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Travis Jeter of Richland; three grandchildren, Clarice L. Brown, Derek W. and Corey A. Jeter; other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Leola Anderson.

Russell Woodrow Jones 1913-1986

Russell Woodrow Jones, of Dixon, was born on July 23, 1913, at Bellevue, Idaho, a son of Oscar A. and Gertrude L. Moreland Jones, and departed this life at 4:38 a.m. on Thursday morning, July 10, 1986, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, where he was taken by ambulance after suffering a heart attack in his in Dixon.  Mr. Jones had attained the age of 72 years, 11 months and 18 days.

Mr. Jones was united in marriage on March 28, 1948, at St. James, to the former Miss Vera Maxine Gargus, and to this union three children were born.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife on May 8, 1985; his step-mother, Mrs. Ada Caulley Vance Jones; and two sisters, Ms. Ruth Jones and Mrs. Dorothy Zhender.

Mr. Jones entered active federal service in the Army of the United States at St. Louis and serves as a Staff Sergeant during World War II until he was honorably discharged at Fort McClellan, Alabama.  His “Honorable Discharge” is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.

A professional business person, Mr. Jones had owned and operated the Dixon Locker Plant since 1958.  Although he had retained ownership of the business, Mr. Jones had semi retired in 1985.  He was a member of the High Point Church of God near Dixon, the Liesmann-Roberts Post No. 298, Dixon, and the Dixon Lions Club of which he was Past President.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Jones include: One son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Ellen Jones, Dixon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Rick Gelsheimer, Springfield, and Karen and Larry Laughlin, Tulsa, Oklahoma; four brothers, Don Jones, William Jones, and Oscar Jones, all of St. James, and Robert Jones, Orange, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Kuehn and Mrs. Beulah Hemme, both of St. James; two grandchildren: Zebediah Jones and Jaremiah Jones; a special friend, Ms. Ruth Welch; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Military graveside services and interment were in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.  Active pallbearers for Mr. Jones were Larry Hughes, Ralph Kloeppel, Olaf Sherrell, Ray Snelson, Hansford Thompson and Bennie Waldron, and honorary pallbearers were Jack Bedrosian, Carl Durtschi, Al Sever and Johnie Wiles.

Everall McDowell 1922-1986

Everall McDowell was born on February 7, 1922 and passed away in Kansas City on March 30, 1986.  He had attained the age of 64 years.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel in Crocker on Wednesday, April 2, 1986 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Campbell officiating.

Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery.  Organist was Gladys Schneider and serving as his pallbearers were Jim Semmons, Ray and John Becker, Ewell and Don Penland, and Walter Alexander.

He is survived by 1 sister and her husband, Jim and Joann Semmons of Metlacha, Florida, 1 niece, Stacy Semmons of Long Wood, Florida, 1 aunt and her husband, Blanche and LaNell Routon of Garden City, Missouri and 1 uncle Nim Martin and his wife Katheryn of Garden City, Missouri with other relatives and friends.

Jeffery Scott “Bucky” Eads 1966-1986

Jeffery Scott “Bucky” Eads, of Route 1, Vienna, was born on June, 30, 1966, at Jefferson City, and departed this life at 1:30 a.m. on Friday morning, April 11, 1986, as a result of injuries sustained in a pickup truck accident which occurred five miles north of Vienna on Highway 63 at Paydown Road.  He had attained the age of 19 years, 9 months and 12 days.

He was a 1984 graduate of the Maries R-1 High School, Vienna and was employed as a roofer by the Crabtree and Sons Roofing, Vienna, at the time of his death.

Fond memories of Bucky will long be remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were conducted for Bucky at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, April 13, 1986, in the Viena Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Roger Crossgrove, Vienna United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment was in Visitation Cemetery, Vienna, under the direction of of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

Pallbearers were Floyd Crabtree, Ronnie Kingery, Jay James, John Eads, Greg Asher, and Doug Eads.

He is survived by his parents, Fuzz and Sue Grant, Vienna, paternal grandmother, Mrs. Byrtle Gant, Vienna; maternal grandparents Bennie and Minnie Eads, Vienna; three sisters, Becky Gant, Angie Gant, and Amy Gant, all of the home near Vienna; uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.

Robert C. OBea 1928-2007

Robert C. OBea, son of the late John and Alice (Toomey) OBea, was born October 12, 1928 in East Pepperell, Massachusetts. He attended school in Franklin, Massachusetts and graduated from Franklin High School.

On July 17, 1954, Robert was united in marriage to Ludmilla Lehner in Mannhein, Germany. They shared over 39 years of marriage together and Ludmilla preceded him in death four days before their 40th wedding anniversary (July 13, 1994). Robert and Ludmilla were blessed with two children: Debbie and Robbie. Robbie preceded his father in death on February 15, 2006.

Robert enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his retirement on January 31, 1967. He had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and for his faithful service was awarded the Good Conduct Medal (5th Award) and Letter of Commendation. He served his country as a cook to hundreds of soldiers.

After retiring from the Army, Robert and his family settled in Waynesville. He began working at the NCO Club on Fort Leonard Wood, later known as the Audie Murphy Club, and worked there for several years as manager until his retirement. He became a member of the Waynesville Masonic Lodge #375 AF & AM and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine of Springfield, MO.

In his spare time, Robert enjoyed being outdoors. Every year, he would plant a garden. He enjoyed watching those vegetables grow and would get frustrated if his tomatoes did not ripen fast enough. Robert liked going to a friends home and looking after their goats. He watched over those goats like they were his kids. He enjoyed going to deer camp every year and would cook enough to feed an army.

Robert was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He would always be there when you needed him and he treasured those times that he could spend with his family and friends.

Robert passed away at 5:10 P.M. Friday, December 21, 2007 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla, Missouri at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 9 days.

Robert will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by one daughter: Debbie Mentola of Waynesville, MO; 3 grandchildren: Earnie Mentola, Jr., Phillip Mentola, and Mariah OBea all of Waynesville, MO; 4 great grandchildren: Kylie, Hunter, Rachel and Jacob; several other relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside services with military honors were held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 24, 2007 in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. Serving as escorts were Larry, Layne and Brock Lercher, Leonard King, J.J. Williams and Bill George. Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Lucy L. (Rardon) Mitchell 1901-1986

Lucy L. Mitchell, 84, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away at 6:01 a.m. Sunday at the McCune-Brooks Hospital following a one year illness.  Mrs. Mitchell was born December 1, 1901, at Binger, Oklahoma.  She lived in Waynesville, Missouri for several years, moving to the Pleau community and from there to Carthage, Missouri in 1960.

She married George W. Mitchell on March 30, 1929 at Carthage.  He passed away November 23, 1959.  She was a member of the Evangel Assembly of God Church in Carthage.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Mitchell of Carthage, Missouri and James L. Mitchell of Joplin, Missouri; one half-brother, Leo Marks of Sarcoxie, Missouri; 2 half-sisters, Mrs. Lula Bnubaker and Mrs. Ellen Clark both of Carthage; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Myrtle W. (Peterson) Koch 1904-1985

Myrtle W. Koch was born a daughter of the late Edward and Anna Peterson on June 4, 1904 in Swedeborg, Missouri.  She died on December 6, 1985 in St. Louis, Missouri in an automobile accident.  She had reached the age of 81 years and six months.

Her early years were spent in Swedeborg where she attended elementary school.  In 1920 she moved to St. Louis seeking employment and there she spent the rest of her life.

In July, 1928 she was united in marriage with George F. Koch who preceded her in death in April 1967.  They were engaged in a wholesale candy business which Myrtle continued after his death, until the business was dissolved.

Funeral services were held in the Colonial Mortuary in St. Louis conducted by her pastor Rev. Darrell Ellsworth of Jewel Baptist Church on December 11, 1985.

Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

She was a faithful member of Jewel Baptist Church until her death.

Her survivors are four sisters: Ruth Carr, St. Louis; Alice Greve and Anna Mae Manes, Mackinaw, Illinois; and Gusta Crouch, Wright City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.

Her nephews served as escorts: Glenn Peterson, Rick McGuire, Bruce McGuire, Kevin McGuire, Bob Offerman and James Offerman.

Clarence E. “Woody” Higgins 1927-1986

Clarence E. “Woody” Higgins, 58 of Waynesville, passed away at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, Tuesday morning January 28, 1986.

Funeral services were held today, Thursday, January 30, 1986 at 10:30 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Burial with full military honors was in the Mt. Gibson Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Higgins is survived by his wife, Hazel of the home; 1 step son, Adrain Watson of Dallas, Texas; 3 step daughters, Evelyn Seeger of Kankakee, Ill., Marva Plumley of Manteno, Ill. And Janice York of Waynesville, Mo.; 1 brother, Edward Higgins of Cincinnati; 11 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.

A memorial has been established to the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church.

Lenford Francis Fritts 1923-1986

Lenford Francis Fritts, son of Ernest B. and Nettie Pruitt Fritts, was born in Pulaski County on August 6, 1923, and departed this life May 7, 1986 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of sixty two years, nine months and one day.

On September 2, 1948 he was inited in marriage with Gladys Mackney in Camdenton, Missouri.

As a young man, Lenford professed his faith in Jesus Christ and has been a member of the Richland United Methodist Church for a number of years.  He loved his church and took a very active part in its functions, serving as trustee on the official board.

Funeral services were held at Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 1986 with Minister Rev. John Appling officiating.

Burial was at the Oaklawn Cemetery.

Escorts were Bob Williams, John Smith, Lloyd Bohannon, Roy Joe Perkins, Jay Powers, and Danny Zeigenbein.

Those surviving include his wife Gladys; one brother Willard Fritts of Osage Beach, Missouri; one sister Bernice Roberts of Richland; other relatives and many friends.

Lenford is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Leona Fritts.

Rector Noel Pemberton 1902-1981

Rector Noel Pemberton, son of William Frank and Martha Malinda Steen Pemberton was born October 21, 1902 in Iberia, Missouri and departed this life January 26, 1981 at his home near Richland.

On September 24, 1924 he was united in marriage to Lola Jewell Andrews, and to this union was born three sons and one daughter all surviving.

Mr. Pemberton was born and raised in Miller County, and was a farmer all of his life.

He became a member of the Church of Christ in Richland in July of 1963.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 1981 at the Colonial Funeral Chapel with Evangelist Larry Robertson officiating.  Burial was in the Mt. Union Cemetery under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland.

Pallbearers were: Ron Pemberton, Joey Pemberton, Billy Williams, Randall Pemberton, Joe Gan and Joe Wright.

He leaves to mourn his passing three sons: Duane, Clay, and Frank all of Richland; one daughter: LaVelle Gan, of Laquey; three brothers: Clarence Pemberton, Kansas City, Missouri; Curtis Pemberton, Lee’s Summitt, Missouri and John Pemberton, Iberia, Missouri; three sisters: Edith Graham, Iberia, Missouri; Mae Mace, Camdenton, Missouri and Vesta Harmon, New Mexico; twenty grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Raymond, Warren, Leslie and Jessie; two sisters: Lou Burke and Violet Sannings; two grandsons: Jackie and Jimmy Pemberton.

Patricia Lynn Monell 1980-1981

Patricia Lynn Monell was born on June 27, 1980 at Waynesville, Missouri and departed this life on January 27,1981 at Crocker, Missouri.  She had attained the age of seven months.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 30, 1981 at the Long Moss Williams Chapel in Crocker at 11 A.M. with Phillip Sallee officiating.  Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Long Moss Williams Funeral Home.

She is survived by her parents: Maurice and Jeana George, Crocker, Missouri; 1 sister, Charolett, of the home, her grandparents:  Wayne and Frieda Presley, Iberia, Missouri, and Mr. & Mrs. Burless George, Dixon, Missouri.

Susie Mabel (Johnson) Williams 1897-1981

Susie Mabel Williams, daughter of Wesley and Betty Brickey Johnson was born February 16, 1897 in Camden County and departed this life January 18, 1981 at her home in Richland, Missouri. In September of 1939 she was united in marriage to Jack Williams. She has lived in Richland most of her life. Funeral services were held January 20, 1981 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dale Hufft officiating. Burial was in the Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels. Survivors include two brothers, Lee Johnson, of Belle, Missouri; Ransy Johnson of Sacramento, California; and one sister, Mrs. Norma Hancock of Richland, Missouri. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Myrtle and Lottie.

Frank Junior Miner 1908-1981

Frank Junior Miner was born in Kansas City, Missouri on April 11, 1908 the son of Frank and Daisy Shinkles Miner and passed away in the St. Johns Hospital in Springfield on Thursday morning, January 15, 1981.  He had attained the age of 72 years.

He was united to Delphia Stokes on August 21, 1955.

He is a member of the Church of Christ in Dixon and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held in the Gilbert Chapel on Saturday, January 17, 1981 with Charlie Pitts officiating.  Burial was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Gilbert Funeral Home of Dixon.

Serving as pallbearers were James Cardin, Wilford Alexander, Don Crews, Jim Brown, Dale Waak and Roger Smith.

Mr. Miner is survived by his wife Delphia of the home; 2 sons Frank and Ralph Miner of Kansas City, Kansas; 5 daughters, Dorothy Miller, Becky Russell, Norma Aubin, and Doris Horine all of Kansas City, Kansas and Sue Ham of Dixon; 1 sister Mary Jane Pollock of Dixon with grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ora May (Kissinger) Olander 1897-1981

Ora M. Olander, daughter of Frank and Laura Roam Kissinger, was born October 15, 1897 in Swedeborg, Missouri and departed this life January 19, 1981 in the Autumn Manor Rest Home, No. 2, in Yates Center, Kansas.

Ora was married to Ernest Olander on November 3, 1912.  She was a dedicated wife for forty-three years, and a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend, who will be greatly missed.

Funeral services for Ora M. Olander were held at the Colonial Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 1981 with the Rev. Floyd Barlow officiating.  Burial was in St. Johns Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Pallbearers were: Clifford York, Hager Roam, Luther Ledbetter, Leonard Miller, Cleve Roam and Berlin Kissinger.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Anna Jane Smith of Kansas City, Kansas; one sister, Anna Johnson of Springfield, Missouri; her son-in-law and one grandson.

Ottie Maude (Coble) Bittick 1891-1981

Ottie M. Bittick, daughter of William B. and Sarah Jane Holloway Coble, was born October 22, 1891 at Trenton, Missouri and departed this life January 15, 1981 at the age of 89 years, two months and 23 days.

On November 16, 1953 she was united in marriage to Walter V. Bittick.  To this union was born two children.

Granny as she was lovingly called, was the last of a pioneer family in Douglas County.  She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a Charter member of the Prior Church, the church her parents helped build in that community, continuing to serve her Master as a faithful worker in all church work, teaching Sunday School Classes for many years.  She served her fellow man by caring for the sick.  She was loved by all who knew her.

Funeral services for Ottie Maude Bittick were Saturday, January 17,1981 at 1:00 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Oakley Herring officiating.  Burial was in the Clifty Hall Cemetery, Mountain Grove, Missouri under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Pallbearers were:  Travis Jeter, Frank Kays, Melvin Hendrix, Chester Woody, Leslie Sanders, and Dee Carroll.  Honorary Pallbearers were: Don Sloan, Cecil Ferguson, Cecil Branson, Charles Rogers, Bill Sutherland and Richard Wood.

Surviving are one daughter, Lena L. Watson, three grandchildren, Myrna Burdine, John Paul Richardson, Nancy Brooks; three great grandchildren, Sarah Jane Richardson, Lena Maye and Betty Lee Brooks, one sister-in-law, Nell Bittick, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.

Those preceding her in death were her husband, an infant son, her parents, four brothers, and three sisters.

Bertha Belle (Hance) Warnol 1896-1981

Bertha Belle Warnol was born at Arlington, near Jerome, the daughter of Barry and Dora Agnes Allison Hance on February 5, 1896 and passed away in the Phelps County Regional Center in Rolla on Saturday morning, January 17, 1981.  She had attained the age of 84 years.

She was united in marriage to Charles Warnol in the Waynesville Court House by Rev. S.D. Scrivner on June 13, 1914.  They have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.  Unto this union 6 children were born.

She has been a member of the Pisgah Church in Dixon since April, 1914, joined Garnet Chapter No. 283, Order of the Eastern Star on March 10, 1947 and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held in the Gilbert Chapel on Monday January 19, 1981 at 2:00 p.m. with Pryor Ray Prewett officiating.  Burial was in the Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of the Gilbert Funeral Home of Dixon.

Serving as pallbearers were Ray and Gene Wagoner, Everett Sharp, Theron, Donald Ray and Carl Warnol.

Mrs. Warnol is survived by her husband Charles of the home; 3 daughters, Grace Collier of Dixon, Minnie Patton of Rolla and Gladys Hargis of Devil’s Elbow; 1 son Charles Jr. of Hurley, Mississippi; 1 brother Eugene Hance of Orlando, Florida; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by 1 son James, 1 daughter Lucy, 2 grandsons, Jim and Clay Jr., 6 brothers and 1 sister.

James Earl Null 1912-1994

James Earl Null, 81, of Vandalia, MO died Thursday evening at the Tri-County Nursing Center, Vandalia.

Mr. Null was born in Dixon, MO on July 13, 1912 to Benjamin Curtis and Neoma (Howser) Null.  On November 20, 1937 in Vienna, MO, he was wed to Eula Marthell Cusick, who survives in Vandalia.  Other survivors include five sons: Curt Null of Knoxville, IA, Virgil Null of Davenport, IA, Jim Null of Farber, MO, and Vernon and Joe Null both of Vandalia; five daughters: Ruby Dean Chafen of Kansas City, KS, Neoma Beal of Rush Hill, MO, Violet Wells of Knoxville, IA, Darlene Witt of St. Charles, MO, and Daffney Hood of Columbia, MO; 96 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters: Jewell Cross, Hazel Allen and Pauline Kaffiele.

Mr. Null was a longtime resident of the Vandalia area, where he engaged in farming and was also employed for many years as a custodian for the Van-Far School District.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 18, 1994 at 1:30 p.m. at the Holt Funeral Home, Vandalia, MO.  Graveside services were held Monday at the Seaton Cemetery, Dixon, MO.

*James Earl Null was transported to his final resting place at Seaton Cemetery by a matched mule team and wagon.

Effie Page Wayman 1904-1981

Effie Page Wayman, daughter of Francis and Elzada (Lane) Page was born April 27, 1904 near Big Piney, Missouri and passed away June 9, 1981 at the Pulaski County Memorial Hospital in Waynesville.  She had attained the age of 77 years, 1 month, and 13 days.

She attended Bayou School in Big Piney.  She was converted at the age of 16 and united with the Hopewell Baptist Church at Big Piney in 1920.  She never moved her membership and remained a faithful christian.

She was united in marriage to William H. Wayman on August 23, 1926, and unto this union 4 children were born: Loyd, Marjorie, Gerald, and Larry.

She is survived by her husband, William, of the home in Waynesville, Missouri; her 4 children: Loyd Wayman, Orangevale, California, Marjorie (Wayman) Williamson, Kingston, Washington, Gerald and Larry Wayman, both of San Andreas, California, 11 living grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Lena Gray and Emma Firestine, both of Waynesville, Missouri; 1 brother, Bob Page of Merced, California, and numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

She was a loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, June 13, 1981 at the Long-Moss-Williams Chapel in Waynesville, Missouri at 10 a.m. with Reavil Hankins officiating.

Burial will be in the Lakewood Memorial Cemetery at Empire, California under the direction of the Franklin & Downs Funeral Home of Ceres, California.
