“Joe” as he was known by his family and friends, attended Richland schools from 1972 until he graduated in 1976. In 1980 he joined the United States Army and served until 1984. He was presently employed at Witmor Farms.
As a young boy, Joe became a member of the Richland United Methodist Church and has remained a member there.
Those surviving include his parents: Bob and Shirley Henson of Richland; one son B.J. of Richland, and one daughter Ada Lee of Peoria, Illinois; his natural mother, Imogene Wilson of Lebanon; two brothers: Mikel of Richland, Erwin of Sanger, Texas; one sister Vickie Crismon of Crocker; a half brother Tom Wilson and a half sister Marie Stretch both of Lebanon; and his grandparents, Erwin and Velma Trietsch of Flowermound, Texas and Gertie Durham of Richland; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert and Ella Henson, and his grandfather, Charlie Durham.
Funeral services were held at the Richland United Methodist Church Sunday, February 16, 1986, at 2:30 p.m. with John Appling and Elvis Pentecost officiating.
Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, solist and Rosalynn York, organist.
Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.
Escorts were: Raymond Scott, Frank Tucker, Terry Becker, Carl Winget, David Miller, and Roy Alexander.
Honorary escorts were: Donnie Henson, Steve Starnes, and David Becker.
