Heserved in World War II with the United States Army, was a member of the Augusta V.F.W. and a member of the Local No. 527 Cement Masons Union. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 29, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the Dixon Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Johncey of the home in Gravois Mills; two daughters, Dorothy Ann Hilse and Nancy Lee Nelson of St. Louis; two sisters, Marie Humphrey of Columbia and Sally Curtis of St. Louis; three brothers, David Matthews and Henry Matthews of California and Carl Matthews of Kansas; five grandchildren with other relatives and friends.
