EMERY SINGLETON 1896-1990

Emery Singleton, 94, died Monday, August 27 1990. He was born in Hancock MO on January 2, 1896, the son of Pink F. and Lucy (Hensley) Singleton.

He married Parlea Keller in 1916 and she preceded him in death on September 11, 1971. He married Bertha Rice on February 14, 1972.

Mr. Singleton is survived by his wife, Bertha, of the home; two stepsons, David Rice of Independence and Douglas and his wife Phyllis Rice of Dixon; three grandchildren, Chandra, Daniel and Jennifer Rice; one sister-in-law, Bertha Boulware of Crocker; his mother-in-law Katheryn Boulware of Dixon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and Arthur, and one sister, Nell Bartlett.

Mr. Singleton attended the Freedom Church. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a mechanic, retiring in 1942, and spent the rest of his time on his farm near Dixon.

Funeral services were held in the Long funeral Home in Dixon on Wednesday, August 29, 1990 at 11 a.m. with Harold Withers officiating. Burial was in the Freedom Cemetery. Serving as his pallbearers were Douglas and Daid Rice, Larry Boulware, Farris Dake, Howard Howser and Richard Boulware.
