Ernest Louis Davis 1968-1986

Ernest Louis Davis, of Route 3, Dixon, was born on April 13, 1968 at Waynesville, a son of Ernest Louis and Gayle Marie Crews Davis, and departed this life at 5:15 p.m., on Monday afternoon, June 16, 1986, at the Rolling Springs Lake which is located eight miles northwest of Dixon in rural Maries County.  Louis was pronounced dead at the scene by Maries County Coroner, David Martin, which ruled his death was due to accidental drowning since the victim had apparently stepped into a hole of water over his head, and he was a non-swimmer.  Louis had attained the age of 18 years, 2 months and 3 days.

Louis had attended the Santee Community Church near Dixon and would have been a senior this coming school year at the Dixon R-1 High School.

Those left to mourn the passing of Louis include: His parents, Ernest and Gayle Davis, of the home near Dixon; two brothers, George Davis and Danny Davis, both of the home; four sisters, Ann Cooper and Fran Raiford, both of Hammond, Indiana, and Paula Davis and Brenda Davis, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Leman and Dorothy Crews, Dixon; maternal great-grandfather, John Schaffner, St. Charles; and many other relatives and friends.

Fond memories of Louis will long be remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were conducted for Louis at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday afternoon, June 19, 1986, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Daniel Wessling, Pastor, Santee Community Church, officiating.  DeWayne Brown sang “Mansion Over The Hilltop” and “In The Sweet By and By” and was accompanied by his daughter, Natalie Brown.

Interment was in the Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.  Pallbearers for Louis were Tracy Beam, Bryan Ramsey, Shane Eberle, Brad Wanns, Craig Sloan and Wally Warner.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ernest Louis Davis Memorial Fund with envelopes being available at the Dixon office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.

Maude May (Hamilton) Crews 1893-1986

Maude May Crews was born in Crocker on July 6, 1893 the daughter of Wade and Jane Cole Hamilton and passed away in the Phelps County Hospital in Rolla on March 21, 1986.  She had attained the age of 92 years,8 months and 15 days.

She was united in marriage to Medford S. Crews on December 5, 1916 and unto this union 6 children were born.

She was a member of the Mitchell Chapel Methodist Church.  She worked at Ft. Wood Hospital for several years and when she retired she enjoyed her flowers, gardening, and her family.  She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, March 25, 1986 with Charles Pitts officiating.  Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Roger, Jerry, Gary, Danny, Darrell and Medford D. Crews.

Mrs. Crews is survived by her husband Medford S. Crews of the home, 3 sons, Willis of Crocker, Don of Hancock and Gene of Beulah, Missouri, 2 daughters, Wilma Kemp of Brookings, Oregon and Mildred Louise Crews of Dixon, 1 brother Clifford Hamilton of Detroit, Michigan, 1 sister, Ida Hamilton Crews of Springfield,17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren with other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Willard M. Crews and 4 brothers, Oscar, Burt, John, and James Hamilton.

Willis "Bugs" Crews 1919-2012

Willis "Bugs" Crews, 92, of Crocker, died Monday, February 20, 2012, in the Life Care Center of
Waynesville.  Born August 30, 1919, at Crocker, a sod of Medford and Maude (Hamilton) Crews.

Married February 26, 1941, at Lebanon to Mildred Leona Cusick Crews who preceded him in death on
April 26, 2011.

He had worked for Missouri State Highway Department.

Survivors:  5 sons, 1 daughter, 2 brothers, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday 24, 2012, at the Long Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker.  Interment was at Antioch Cemetery. 

Kathryn Rosetta (Shaw) Zepp 1922-2010

Kathryn Rosetta Zepp, of Crocker was born on December 29, 1922, at Crocker a daughter of Allen and Ova (Crews) Shaw and departed this life following a brief illness, on Thursday evening, July 28, 2010 in the St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Mrs. Zepp had attained the age of 87 years and 7 months.

Mrs. Zepp was united in marriage on August 17, 1952 to Harold Tobias Zepp who preceded her in death on January 21, 1996. In addition to her husband, Mrs Zepp was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Zepp on October 4, 2005; her parents; and two sisters, Glenna Pottinger and Christina (Toots) Peterson.

 Mrs. Zepp was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon later moved her membership to the First Baptist Church,Crocker. She had worked as a secretary for the REA; the Lumber Company in Dixon: The Crocker MFA and later retiring from the Crocker School systems as well as being a loving and devoted homemaker.

 Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs.Zepp include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Joyce Sullins, Crocker and Alan and Cindy Zepp, Dixon; one sister Marilyn Daughtery, Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren Carolyn( Mike), Dennis (Carol), Rick (Lori), Jessica (Judd), Amanda and Alana; seven great-grandchildren, Holli, Nathan (Haydee), Aaron (Amber), Erica (Trent), Ashley (Joe), Kate and Maci; five great-great-grandchildren, Isabel, Zoe, Ely, Laney and Carter; and many other relatives and friends.

 Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Zepp at 2:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon, August 1, 2010, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home, Crocker with Rev. Don Kabel, First Baptist Church, Crocker officiating. Rita Street provided appropriate musical selections for the service.

 Interment was in the Crocker Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Pallbearers for Mrs. Zepp were Mike Allen, Nathan Allen, Aaron Allen, Rick Ringer, Trent Harrison and Steve Shelton. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Carolyn Allen, Jessica Easterling, Amanda Zepp and Alana Zepp.
