Ruby Lee (Foster) Fields 1914-2005

Ruby Lee (Foster) Fields, daughter of the late Earl and Beulah (Adkins) Foster, was born September 23, 1914 in Spring Creek, Missouri where she grew up. She attended school at the Rolling Heath School.

On November 2, 1935, Ruby was united in marriage to Arthur A. Fields in Rolla, Missouri. They shared over 56 years of marriage together and were blessed with two sons, Norman and Douglas. Arthur preceded her in death on August 7, 1992.

Ruby worked for over twenty years for the Waynesville R-VI School District in the Food Service Department. Ruby was a member of the Pulaski County Historical Society for several years. The one thing Ruby loved doing the most and was the best at was being a mom and homemaker. She treasured the times that she spent with her family and taking care of them. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds every year.

Ruby passed away at 11:56 PM Friday, June 17, 2005 in her home at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 25 days.

Ruby will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by one son: Doug Fields and his wife, Georganna of Independence, Missouri; three sisters: Mignion Daley of Waynesville, Missouri; Martha Tucker and Mary Camp, both of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother: Kenny Foster of Waynesville, Missouri; daughter-in-law: Marge Fields of Waynesville, Missouri; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by one son: Norman; one brother: James Foster and one great-great grandson.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 24, 2005 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. A recording of the song "When I Look In The Sky was played. Serving as escorts were Dick Daley, Ron Fields, Anthony Foster, Terry Foster, Dennis Leuchen and Ron Tucker. Serving as honorary escort was Jim Fields.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Norman Arthur Fields 1938-2005

Norman Arthur Fields, son of Arthur A. and Ruby L. (Foster) Fields, was born at Spring Creek, Missouri in Pulaski County on December 3, 1938.

Norman grew up in the Waynesville area where he graduated from high school in 1956. He later attended classes at the University of Missouri, Rolla.

On June 29, 1958, at the First Baptist Church in Waynesville, Norman was united in marriage with Marjorie Antinori, and to this union, two children, Gregg and Angie, were born.

Norman owned and operated Fields Gas Company and Fields Hardware in St. Robert for many years. Over the years, he was an active member of his community, serving on the Waynesville City Council, Waynesville School Board, East Elementary PTA, Waynesville Volunteer Fire Department and Committee of 50. Norman was also a member of the Waynesville/St. Robert Chamber of Commerce and the National Whos Who of Business Leaders, and he was very charitable to the Boy Scouts of America. He served his country in the National Guard for over 10 years.

Norman departed this life the evening of June 10, 2005 at St. Johns Regional Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 7 days.

He will be very sadly missed by his wife: Marjorie of the home; his mother: Ruby Fields of St. Robert; one son: Gregg Fields of Waynesville; one daughter: Angie Bench and her husband, Scotty of Springfield; one brother: Doug Fields and his wife, Georganna of Independence; three grandchildren: James Fields, Melissa Wehner and Devon Bench; three great grandchildren: Kerstyn Wilson and Payton and Parker Wehner, along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Norman was preceded in death by his father, Arthur A. Fields on August 7, 1992 and a great grandson, Hunter Avey.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 13, 2005 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Sullins officiating. A recording of the song "That Long, Long, Long Goodbye as performed by Gary Paxton was played. Serving as escorts were Steve Fields, D.J. Halverson, Ed Kubisiak, Jackie and Jerry Morgan and Jim Parson. Serving as honorary escorts were Dean and Mac McKinnon and Herman Vaughn.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Beverly Ann (Foster) Farwell 1939-2005

Beverly Ann Farwell was one of three children born to the union of Beulah Murl (Crossland) Foster and the late Clarence Earl Foster. She was born December 31, 1939 in Waynesville, Missouri, where she grew up and graduated from high school.

Beverly enjoyed growing up in Waynesville during the 1950's. She felt safe and protected, and developed many friendships that endured her entire lifetime. She held fond memories of her father teaching her and several of her friends to swim in the very cold big spring.

At the age of 12, Beverly accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized. Her strong and steadfast faith carried her throughout her life. Beverly was a faithful, active member of the First Christian Church of Waynesville. She loved her church and her church family.

Beverly married James Minor Farwell on August 16, 1985 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Beverly and Jim shared four wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on September 26, 1989.

For several years, Beverly worked at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, as a medical clerk for civil service. But her favorite job was working at Hallmark. She enjoyed meeting all of the customers and working with her boss, Lisa. Beverly loved her family, friends, her animals and helping people. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the Waynesville library and Reach to Recovery.

Beverly lost her battle with cancer, but won her victory with Jesus the afternoon of April 13, 2005 at her home in Waynesville, Missouri, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 13 days.

She will be very greatly missed by her mother: Beulah Foster of Waynesville, Missouri; her precious daughter: Kim Thibeault of Corning, New York; one brother: Dennis Foster of Rolla, Missouri; one sister: Barbara Sena of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two granddaughters: Abby Turner and Shellie Walters; two great-grandsons: Jacob and Kyle Serdula; two nieces; four nephews; step-son: Joey Farwell of Springfield, Missouri; several other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 16, 2005 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Danny Graves and Virgil White officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang "Even In The Valley", "When Jesus Speaks Peace" and "Serenaded By Angels". Serving as escorts were Mike Fleming, Michael Fleming, Mike Foster, Tom Gullett, Jerry Nelson and Chuck Thompson. Serving as honorary escorts were Phil Hayes, Roy Nichols, Dave Teufel and Ellis Wallace.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested in memory of Beverly Farwell to the Make A Wish Foundation or the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and may be left at Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

SHIRLEY MAY KEPPEL MORING, 1935-1990

Shirley May Keppel Moring was born June 23, 1935, to her parents Leslie and Ellen (Foster) Ham and departed this life Thursday, July 12, 1990 in Crocker, MO. She was 55.

Shirley was a very kind and generous person. She was always willing to help a friend in need.

Shirley enjoyed life. She loved fishing, hunting and being outdoors in general. She was an excellent cook and seamstress.

Shirley owned and operated Shirley's Sunshine Cafe for several years in Dixon.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde Moring of Crocker; two daughters, Martha Kelly of Oklahoma City, OK and Malinda Kelley of Waynesville; one son, Robin Keppel of Crocker; her mother and stepfather, Ellen and Bill Biver of Pacific, MO; two sisters, Leona Huff and Sue Rigsby of Waynesville; a brother Paul Ham of Dixon; five grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 15, in Dixon City Cemetery with Rev. Robert Kimmis officiating. Family members served as escorts. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel. A memorial has been established in the name of Shirley May Moring.

James C. “Jim” Foster 1930-1986

James C. “Jim” Foster was born a son of Clarence Earl Foster and Beulah (Adkins) Foster on February 2, 1930 in Waynesville, Missouri and he departed this life November 11, 1986 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri at the age of 56 years.

Jim was united in marriage to Karen Dover June 19, 1957 and to this union three children were born, Timothy, Terry, and Tawanjia Foster.

Jim was baptized into Christ in 1972 and was a member of the Waynesville Church of Christ.

In addition to his deep love for his family and many friends, Jim had a great talent and commitment as a Country Western singer and writer and he had made several recordings and tapes.  This something that will live on in his memory.  Jim had a great sense of humor and a “dry” wit.  He was a hard worker and took pride in it.

Jim was a retired businessman, and was a life-long resident of Pulaski County.

He is survived by two sons, Timothy Foster of University City, Missouri, and Terry Foster of Waynesville, Missouri; one daughter, Tawnjia Foster of Waynesville, Missouri; two grandsons, Chase and Grant Foster; one brother, Kenny Foster of Waynesville, Missouri; four sisters, Mignion Daley of Waynesville, Missouri; Ruby Field of St. Robert, Missouri; Martha Tucker and Mary Camp, both of St. Louis, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.

Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Dick Stovall officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Sadie Navarre, and a quartet: Don Russell, Tony Smith, Curt Virgin, and Ward Wood, Jr.

Escorts were: Mark Abbott, Bill Davenport, Jonathan Foster, Mike Melton, Richard Riddle, and Junior Wimberly.

Honorary escorts were: Eric Foster, Mark Melton, and Robin Taylor.

Interment was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Beulah (Griffin) Foster 1896-1934

Mrs. Earl Foster, nee Griffin, age 37, of the Spring Creek community, passed away Saturday night, August 25, at the Springfield Baptist hospital from peritonitis and blood poisoning, following an illness of about 4 weeks duration.

Prior to her death she was given several blood transfusions in an effort to save her life.

She was born in Pulaski County, near Wharton, and had resided in the community all of her life. She was married to Earl Foster, and five children, husband and mother, and a host of relatives and friends survive her.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, at Friendship Baptist church, by Rev. Chas. Roach and interment was made in the church cemetery, with J.L. Hoops and Sons, funeral directors.

John and Catherine Foster 1813-1882

This entry is from the J.J. Watts collection. John J. Watts hailed from Warren, Maine and moved to the northern Ozarks of Missouri sometime after the Civil War. He was a circuit-riding Baptist Minister and his territory covered Phelps, Pulaski, and Texas Counties and parts of Maries and Dent Counties. He established a cemetery, Watt’s Lawn, which is located 1 mile West of J Highway, near the Pulaski County-Phelps County line. This collection covers 1882-1912.

Mr. John Foster, born in Tennessee, June 4th 1813, died on Piney River, Miller's place, Nov. 14th 1882 aged 69 ys. 5 ms. and 10 ds. Singing, prayer and remarks at the McCourtney Cemetery by J.J. Watts Nov. 15th 1882. Catherine, his wife, died same place July 12th 1881 aged 67 ys. 8 ms. and 15 ds. A funeral sermon of both was preached at the Hopewell Church from Phil. 1 X 23 by J.J. Watts July 15th 1883.
