Laura C. (Sneed) Derry 1877-1916

Died, at her residence in Big Piney, Laura C. Derry, wife of Dr. Wm. Derry. Sister Derry was born in Pulaski County Mo., Feb. 23, 1877, and died Jan. 25, 1916.

She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and lived a devoted Christian life. She was married to Dr. Wm. Derry, June 17, 1897. To this union eight children were born, three preceding her to that Great Beyond. She leaves a husband and five children to mourn her departure.

The funeral was preached at the church house by Rev. Allsberry after which the remains were laid to rest in the Big Piney Cemetery.

The family has the sympathy of the entire community.

Metta Virginia (Corpier) Helton 1925-1986

Metta Virginia Helton was born a daughter of Roscoe and Lucinda (Sneed) Corpier in the state of Missouri on December 22, 1925, and departed this life May 15, 1986, having attained the age of 60 years, 4 months and 23 days. Metta had accepted Christ as her Saviour. She loved her family very much and had been a homemaker all her life. She liked to work in her garden, loved flowers and enjoyed pets. Metta will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her loving husband, Wroe, and daughter, Bonnie June of the home; three brothers; Delmar Corpier of Sedalia, MO, Okley Corpier of Newburg, Leon Corpier of Des Moines, Iowa, three sisters, Fern Ernst of Dixon, MO, Mary Levon Corpier of St James, MO, and Darlene Carr of Bunker, MO. Visitation was held Friday evening, May 16, 1986 with family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Graveside services were held Saturday, May 17, 1986 at 10:30 am at the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Viril White officiating. Escorts were Gary Carmack, Nathan Carmack, Danny Crossland, Danny Graves, Marion Mallow, Clayton Wilson, Danny Wilson and Jim Laughlin. Interment was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery.

...County, a son of Marion Webster and Julia Ann Sneed Kelley, and departed this life at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening , February 21, 1984 at the Heritage Park Nursing Home, Rolla. Mr. Kelley had been in failing health for the past two and one half years, and had attained the age of 91 years, 10 months and 3 days.

Mr. Kelley was united in marriage on July 1, 1915 (date is smudged) at Big Piney, to the former Miss Florence Lovada Carroll, and to this union five children were born.

Mr. and Mrs. Kelley celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage on their wedding anniversary this year.

Mr. Kelley was a farmer and engaged in stock raising. He was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church near Houston and was baptized at an early age.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Kelley at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, February 26, 1984, at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Chapel in Dixon, with the Rev. Harold Withers officiating. Interment was in the Hopewell Cemetery, Big Piney, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.

Pallbearers for Mr. Kelley were relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Kelley include: His devoted wife, Mrs. Florence L. Kelley, of the Heritage Park Nursing Home, Rolla; one son, Floyd Kelley, Visalia, California;

Julia Ann Kelley, wife of Marion W. Kelley, died near Big Piney, MO, Feb. 12 1912 at 10 a.m., aged 39 ys., 1 mo., and 27 ds. She was a daughter of Bro. Henry M. & Sis. Elizabeth M. Sneed (nee Page). She was of a family of 6 child, 5 are now living. Mother of 8 children, all living. A funeral sermon was preached at the Hopewell Ch., Feb. 13th, at 2 p.m., 1912 from Psalms 35X14.

Abi (Hendrix) Sneed 1864-1902

Sister Abi, wife of Thomas Sneed, and daughter of Rev. A. Hendrix, born in Rush Co., Indiana, May 23d 1864, and died in Rogers, Benton Co., Arkansas, April 30th 1902 at 7 o'clock p.m., aged 37 ys, 11 ms, & 7 ds. Sister Sneed was of a family of 7 children:
Elizabeth Jane, John Finley, Wm. A., Daniel F., Abi, our lamented sister, Mary Josephene, and Andrew J. 4 of whom survive, namely: Wm. A., Daniel T., Mary Josephene, & Andrew J. Nov. 4th 1883 our sister was united in marriage with Bro. Thomas Sneed, who survives her. She was mother of 6 children: Herbert E., Zina E., Perry E., Estella May, Alexander H., Leroy L. 4 surviving, Zina E.,Perry E., Alex. H., & Leroy L. Her oldest child Herbert Eugene Hendrix since the death of his mother has passed away. He died at W.W. Huffs at Coalhill, in Johnson Co., Ark., Sept. 11th 1902 at 11 o'clock a.m., aged 20 ys. 11 ms, & 22 ds. Herbert was raised by his grand parents and was dearly beloved by them. A funeral discourse was delivered at the Hopewell Ch. at Newtown, O ct. 2d 1902 at 11 a.m., from the text found in Phil. 1X21 Hymns on page 176, 2d hymn "Why should our tears in sorrow flow", & "We'ar floating down the stream of time".
