HENRY JACKSON BREEDEN, 1913-1990

Henry Jackson Breeden, 77, of rural Dixon, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 1990, at Rolla. The son of Joseph Andrew Breeden and Mary Elizabeth (Crum) Breeden, he was born in Vienna MO on May 2, 1913.
Mr. Breeden lived in the Vienna area throughout his childhood. He left Vienna in 1942 during WWII, when he joined the U. S. Army. He received his discharge in 1946, having attained the rank of Master Sergeant.
On July 3, 1943, in Brownwood TX he married Gladys Hutchison. In 1951, the couple moved to Waynesville where he worked at IGA until 1976. For the past several years he has worked at Jim's Market on Highway 28.
Mr. Breeden was a member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church, the Dixon American Legion, and the Waynesville/St. Robert Senior Citizens. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Randall and Mary Breeden of Lenexa KS; one brother, Leonard Breeden of Rolla; 6 sisters, Irene Nelson and Lavon Nelson, both of Vienna, Louise Crancer of Farmington, Mary Ann Robertson of Winfield, May Haynes of St. James, and Helen Finn of Rolla; and two step-grandchildren, Amy Karst and Andrew Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Breeden.
funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Lee Porch officiating. Serving as escorts were David Dodds, Wayne Howery, Gene Stockdale, Gregg Stockdale, Kenny Stockdale and Randy Yocum. Honorary escorts were Jim Dodds, Byron Eldridge, Floyd Mooney and Floyd Stockdale.
Burial was in the Vienna City Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel. A memorial has been established to Waynesville United Methodist Church in the name of Henry Breeden.
