REVEREND EDWIN E. BAUR, 1893-1990

Edwin E. Baur, 97, died at 10.45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 1990 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. He was born in the town of Drake, Gasconade County, MO, the son of Gottfried J. and Mary Oberg Baur, on Jan. 6, 1893.
On March 25, 1915, at Rosebud MO, he married Mamie Shockley. She preceded him in death in Sept. of 1982.
Rev. Baur is survived by 6 children, Rev. John Baur and his wife Jessie of Mansfield MO, Mildred Steimke of St. Peters PA, Fern Palmer of Rolla, Dorothy Martin of Springfield, Eileen Alverson and Naomi Eads, both of Kansas City MO; a sister-in-law Rosalee Baur; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, Henry, and 3 sisters, Frieda Shockley, Verena Shockley and Flora Copeland.
Rev. Baur helped organize a church which eventually became First Baptist Church of Union.
The First Baptist Church of Dixon first called Rev. Baur to be its pastor in 1931. He retired from this church in 1964, after having left and been called back two times. He served there a total of 33 years.
In addition to Dixon and Union, he served as pastor to other Missouri Baptist Churches, including those at Cuba, Elsberry, Nevada, and Lockwood. After his "retirement," he pastored at Jerome and Gasconade and served as interim at others.
Rev. Baur served the Dixon Board of Education, the Pulaski County Red Cross Board, and the local PTA. He also served for ten years as moderator and 16 years as assistant moderator of the Pulaski County Baptist Association. He was a Mason and had received his fifty year Masonic pin.
Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church in Dixon on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1990 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Ed Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the Dixon Cemetery. Serving as his escorts were grandsons, and honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the First Baptist Church. Arrangements were under the direction of the Long Funeral Home of Dixon.
