John was a very hardworking man. Right after he and Donna were married, John went to work for Skaggs Furnace Company in Crocker, Missouri where they built furnaces from start to finish and installed them in homes. John drove a cab for the Post Cab Company until the early 1980s and then became self-employed. He loved to spend time in the great outdoors and was able to work outside in the timber industry.

On the weekends, John played country music all around the area. He had the privilege of playing with Lee Mace of the Ozark Opry and was featured on KTTS Radio on several occasions. He really enjoyed getting together with his friends and meeting the different people that they played for. In his spare time, he was an avid Archery Shooter and earned several awards for his shooting ability. Most importantly, he treasured the times that he could spend with his family and friends.
