At the age of 92 years, 4 months and 19 days, Lizzie left Christian
Health Care-South and went to Heaven at 4:45 A.M. on Sunday, June 6,
2010 and the angels were singing praises as another child of God came
home.
Elizabeth Kathleen (Scott) Oursbourn-Crismon was born on January 7,
1918, in Pulaski County to the late Charlie Worth and Tilda Evelyn
(Harmon) Scott.
On June 10, 1935 Lizzie was united to William R. “Bill” Oursbourn
and to this union were blessed with three children, Lynn, Evelyn and
Dena. Bill preceded her in death on April 5, 1988 after fifty-three
wonderful years together.
On September 10, 1990, she was united in marriage with Clarence
Crismon, and they shared several years together until his death on June
18, 2001.
Elizabeth made a profession of faith at an early age; she was
baptized and became a member of the Beulah Baptist Church where she
attended as long as her health permitted. Lizzie was a woman of great
faith with a love for her Lord that was immeasurable and fond great
comfort in reading her Bible.
Lizzie was a hard working woman her entire life. When she made up
her mind to do something she followed through until the task was
completed. She not only worked at home, but also worked at the Richland
Shoe Factory and the Richland Nursing Home where she retired.
Lizzie’s hobbies included making quilts, music and reading. She also
loved the outdoors, picking berries, making a garden and later canning
and putting up what she had grown. However, her most cherished times
were spent visiting with her family and friends whom she cherished.
She is survived by her two daughters by her two daughters: Evelyn
Starnes of Stoutland, MO and Dena (Frank) Kettinger of Richland, MO; one
sister: Joyce (Ernest) Brown of Richland, MO; one daughter-in- law:
Sybil Oursbourn-Boone of Strafford, MO; two sisters-in-laws: Maxene
Scott of Lebanon, MO and Ruth Scott of Richland, MO; one brother in law:
Bob Oursbourn of Richland, MO; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren
and 12 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other
relatives and friends.
Lizzie is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one son, Lynn
Oursbourn, three sisters: Maggie Gideon, Florence Smith, Cinda Hammock
and three brothers: Robert Scott, Charles Scott and Buddy Scott.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at
Beulah Baptist Church of Richland with Pastor Clifton Hodges
officiating. Lizzie's granddaughter Missy Miller and her husband Chris
along with their son Joseph and great-grandson Stevie Mino sang "Amazing
Grace" and "The Prettiest Flowers Will Be Blooming". The congregation
joined them in singing "I'll Fly Away". Lizzie's favorite poem entitled
Sunrise was read by her grandson Joe Oursbourn. Serving as escorts were
Barry Oursbourn, Lonnie Rodden, Dale Oursbourn, Norman Smith, Tom Lynch
and Billy Williams.
Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland. Services were under the direction of Richland Memorial Chapel.
