Ruth (McColgan) Lynch 1913-2009

Mary Ruth Lynch went home to be with her Lord the morning of July 13, 2009 in the Richland Care Center, Richland, Missouri, at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 9 days. One of two children born to the union of the late Guy G. McColgan and Mary E. (Matheny) McColgan Langford, Ruth was born September 4, 1913 near Hickman, Kentucky, where she grew up on a farm next to the Mississippi River. Ruth was a 1931 graduate of Hickman High School. Later that year, on December 4, Ruth was united in marriage with Swiggart Raymond Lynch in Fulton County, Kentucky. Ruth and Swiggart shared nearly 50 years of marriage and were blessed with six sons, Bill, James Harold, Bobby, Joe, Tom and Richard. Swiggart and two of their sons, Bobby and Joe, preceded Ruth in death. Ruth dedicated her life to the love and care of her family. She was a wonderful cook and made great biscuits. She also made beautiful handwork treasurers, and was a pretty successful "bank fisherman." Ruth was a woman of great faith in her Lord Jesus Christ, and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by four sons: Tom Lynch (Kay), Bill Lynch and Richard Lynch (Marsha) all of Richland, and James Harold Lynch (Virginia) of Royal Oak, Michigan; 26 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, husband and two sons, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, Willie McColgan. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 16, 2009 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Richland with Rev. Larry Atkins officiating. Recorded music selections included "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Go Rest High On That Mountain". Serving as escorts were Joe Kelso, Bill Adams, Norman Smith, Kenneth Marshal, David Lowery and Raymond Lynch. Honorary escort was Kenny Young. Burial followed in the Hazelgreen Cemetery, Hazelgreen, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Richland. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hazelgreen Cemetery Fund in memory of Ruth Lynch. Donations can be made at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Richland.
