He passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, 13 October, 1975, having attained the age of 49 years, 3 months, 19 days.
When Robert was a small boy the family moved to the Big Piney vicinity and it has continued to be his home.
On November 23rd, 1949 Robert was married to Lillian Hope York and to this union 2 sons were born.
He leaves to mourn his passing: His wife Lillian, of the home, a son Robert Dwight, of Plato, Missouri, and a son Randy dale of the home, his daughter-in-law Brenda Reed Welch, a granddaughter, Stacie Lynn, 1 sister and brother-in-law Opal and Simon Gilbert, of Big piney; 4 brothers, Vernon G. and Clyde L., of Big Piney, His twin brother, Orville Don, of Jefferson City, Missouri, James Leo of Palmdale, California, 9 nieces and nephews, 9 great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
His parents and a sister, Juanita Welch Berry, preceded him in death.
Robert was saved and united with the Hopewell Baptist Church when he was a young man. His deep faith substantiated him during his long illness.
Robert will be lovingly missed by all who knew him, but none would want to call him back for he is free from pain and is at peace in God’s loving care.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 16th, 1975, 2 p.m. at the Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Ewell Groves, and the Rev. Martin Davis. Interment was in the Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of the Moss-Williams Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Charles Sidwell, Curtiss Spitker, Claudie Chambers, Paul Page, Dale Sanders, Ronald Chambers.
