Bessie Manes Gibson 1900-1986

Bessie Manes Gibson, daughter of Charles and Minnie Barnaby Manes, was born November 28, 1900, and departed this life on October 25, 1986 at Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty five years, ten months and twenty eight days.

On December 31, 1919 she was united in marriage with John Gibson, and to this union one daughter was born.

Bessie professed her faith in Christ as a young girl and became a member of the Sunnyside Christian Church at Wet Glaize, Missouri, until it disbanded and her membership was transferred to the First Christian Church in Richland.

She enjoyed gardening, and was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She took great pride in her family and her home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 28,1986 at 1:30 p.m. with Kirk Mallette officiating under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Chapel.

Resting place was in the Camp Ground Cemetery.

Escorts for Mrs. Gibson were: Lynn Anderson, Ivan Perkins, Steve Sorensen, Roy Joe Perkins, Scott Sorensen and Eric Sinner.

Those surviving include her husband John; her daughter, Kathleen Snead of Richland; two brothers, Howard Manes of Springfield, and Jerry Manes of Caldwell, Idaho; two sisters Lola Davis and Betty Lucas, both of Richland; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Norman Manes and one sister, Lillian Manes.

Robert Gibson 1926-1986

Robert Gibson was born January 5, 1926 at Niangua, Missouri.  He was the son of Louis and Lucy Bullock Gibson.  He departed this life June 30, 1986 having attained the age of 60 years, 5 months, and 25 days.

He attended school at Waynesville and entered the army in 1942 during World War II and served 3 years in Europe.  He was united in marriage to Rotha Nell Halford on January 1, 1946 and they shared 40 years together, and to this union 5 children were born.  He worked at Ft. Leonard Wood in the motor pool under civil service until he retired in 1982 with 32 years.  He was also in partnership with his brother in Gibson Brothers Garage for 15 years at Laquey, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife Rotha, Rt. 2, Richland, Mo.; 5 children, Robert K. Gibson, of Mountain Home, Ark., Sheila Odom of Orange, Tx., Richard C. Gibson, of Dallas, Tx., Teresa Alkire, of laquey, Mo., and Janene Elizey of Laquey, Mo., 9 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Roy, Gene, and Bill of Laquey, Mo. And Junior of Kansas City, Mo.; 2 sisters Alma Prewett of Waynesville, Mo., and Thelma O’Nell of Cleveland, Tx.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father and 2 brothers Cecil and Russell.

Funeral services for Mr. Gibson were held July 2, 1986 at the Idumea Baptist Church with Rev. Don Martin and Rev. Russell Randolph pastor of the Idumea Baptist Church officiating.  Music was provided by Dorothy Moore, Pianist, solos by Iva Mae Case and Charles Folkert.  Serving as Pallbearers were Steven Kelsey, Shannon Kelsey, Charley Bench, Tracy Gibson, Darold Wieners, Sr.  Honorary Pallbearers were Charles Hobbs, Howard Slawson, Fred Gibson, and Curtis Halford.  Interment was in the Idumea Baptist Church Cemetery.  Services were under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Gerry Lynn (Kelley) Gibson 1953-2009

Gerry Lynn Kelley Gibson was born July 2, 1953, to Kenneth and Lorraine (Ray) Kelly in Waynesville, Missouri. Gerry was married to Fred Gibson in August, 1969. Gerry Lynn professed her faith at an early age and was raised in church all her life.
Gerry enjoyed playing softball and won many trophies; also bowling league's. Spending time with her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. She also enjoyed singing and playing the piano and the organ in church and at home.
Gerry was a waitress for years in many local restaurants in the area including the Hub, Deville, Fuggitts, Ted Williams and Dottie's Restaurant.
Gerry passed from this life Feb. 3, 2009, in Jefferson City at the age of 55 years.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Melissa (Gibson) Greenwood.
Gerry is survived by two sons: Freddie Gibson and Randy Gibson, both of St. Robert; five brothers: Dale Kelley and his wife, Lucile, of Waynesville, Rick Kelley and his wife, Teri, of St. Louis, Charles Kelley and his wife, Theresa, of St. Louis, Tony Kelley of Ill., Jim Kelley and his wife, Sherry, of Waynesville; five sisters: Brenda Medley and her husband, William, of Newburg, Christina Banning of Waynesville, Linda Whiting of Okla., Sandra Salveston and her husband, Dave, of Mont., Phyllis Smith and her husband, Jim, of Evening Shade; two grandchildren: John Hunter Greenwood and Ethan Jacob Greenwood. Gerry will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, from 5 to 8p.m. at the New Beginnings Revival Center, 24675 Hwy 17 Waynesville. The funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the New Beginnings Revival Center in Waynesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Teague and Sons Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Waynesville Memorial Park in Waynesville, Missouri. All arrangements were made under the direction of Teague and Sons Funeral Home.

Angela Marie “Angie” (Hall) Gibson 1974-2011

Angela Marie “Angie” Gibson, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011, near the community of Sleeper, Missouri in Laclede County, at the age of 37 years, 1 month and 3 days.

One of three children and the only daughter of the union of Frank E. Hall and Anne (Stewart) Hall Cooper, Angie was born September 11, 1974 in Pekin, Illinois.

Angie grew up and attended school in Pekin, before moving to the Laquey, Missouri area where she graduated from Laquey High School, Class of 1992. As a child she enjoyed taking family vacations to Missouri; spending much time at Barlow’s Ford River floating and laying in the sun tanning.

For the last six years, Angie worked as a housekeeper for the lodging department on Ft. Leonard Wood. Angie loved watching her son Logan play soccer and listening to her son Billy’s music.

Angie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized when she was a young girl. In recent years, she re-dedicated her life and became a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church. Angie loved the Lord and her church family very much. It was extremely important to Angie that Billy and Logan have a relationship with the Lord and attend church.

Angie will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her sons: Billy Joe Gibson and Logan Wade Gibson both of the home; the boys’ father: Tracy Gibson of Laquey; Angie’s parents: Frank Hall (Valerie) of North Pekin, Illinois and Anne Cooper (Thomas) of Laquey; Angie’s beloved companion: Earl Crossland; grandmother: Mavis Stewart of North Pekin, Illinois; two brothers: David of North Pekin, Illinois and Frank F. Hall, II (Yalonda) of Pekin, Illinois. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Angie was preceded in death by grandparents: Winfield “Buster” Stewart, Frank Hall and Helen Whitty and two uncles: Johnny Stewart and Mike Hall.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Larry Atkins and Zandy Vandall officiating. Angie’s son, Billy Joe Gibson, played a beautiful song on his guitar. The songs “My Heart Will Go On”, “Sissy’s Song” and “Marvelous Light” were played. Serving as escorts were David Hall, Mark, Collin, Troy, Jason and Jimmy Stewart, Randy Crossland, Larry and Austin Hunter, Jason Beauchamp, James and John Smith, Earl Crossland, Tracy Gibson and Shane Stewart.

Burial followed in the Idumea Cemetery of Laquey, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Angie Crossland and can be left at the funeral home.

John Armstrong Gibson 1897-1987

John Armstrong Gibson, son of Harley and Elizabeth Armstrong Gibson, was born December 15th, 1897 in Miami, Oklahoma before statehood and departed this life March 22, 1987 in Richland, Missouri at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 7 days.

John lived on a farm near Wet Glaize, Missouri and attended the Pritchett School when a young boy.

The family moved to the family farm between Montreal and Wet Glaize when still a teenager.

He grew up in the Methodist faith, as his grandparents were among the founders of the Campground Methodist Church.

On December 31, 1919 he was united in marriage with Bessie Manes and to this union one daughter was born.

He was a proud and loving family man. Enjoyed farming, gardening, and creating a beautiful yard around the home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 25, 1987 with Rev. Ralph Rowe officiating. Burial was in the Campground Cemetery under direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Escorts were Lynn Anderson, Scott Sorenson, Steve Sorenson, Roy Joe Perkins, Eric Sinner, and Cliff Kivela.

Those surviving include his daughter, Kathleen Snead of Richland; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bessie, who passed away October 25, 1986, one sister, Lucy, and one brother, Thomas.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

Autie Bland (Gibson) Belshe 1884-1984

Autie Bland Belshe was born in Richland, Missouri on September 18, 1884, the second child of James and Jennie Gibson. Her childhood was lived in Jefferson City, Missouri, but she returned to Richland as a young lady and was married to Ovid H. Belshe on January 21, 1906. It was a truly loving union which lasted more than fifty years and was blessed with four children.

One son, Robert, preceded her in death in 1927. The surviving children are Rosalynn Hillhouse and Horace Belshe of Richland, and Francis B. Belshe of Normal, Illinois. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Oleta Gordon, of LaMonte, Missouri, besides several nieces and nephews.

After Ovid’s death in 1958 Autie lived alone for many years but her home was always filled with friends and family. Her joy in living was contagious and her deep, sincere faith in God was an inspiration to all. For countless years she taught Sunday School classes at First Christian programs became traditional thru the years as she recited the scriptural story from memory. She loved memorizing scripture and choice poems, and could recite them perfectly long after her ninetieth birthday.

Her favorite poem expresses her strongest conviction.

I wonder as I look upon
The white snow-covered
sod
Just what the people do
who say
They don’t believe in God?
Where do they get the strength
To bear the burdens of the
day?
To whom do they petition
When they feel the need to
pray?
Although it is a mystery
As o’er the fields I plod
I’ll never have to worry,

Autie found great comfort in these thoughts and died quietly in love and peace in the evening of September 7, 1984, eleven days short of her 100th birthday.
