John Armstrong Gibson 1897-1987

John Armstrong Gibson, son of Harley and Elizabeth Armstrong Gibson, was born December 15th, 1897 in Miami, Oklahoma before statehood and departed this life March 22, 1987 in Richland, Missouri at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 7 days.

John lived on a farm near Wet Glaize, Missouri and attended the Pritchett School when a young boy.

The family moved to the family farm between Montreal and Wet Glaize when still a teenager.

He grew up in the Methodist faith, as his grandparents were among the founders of the Campground Methodist Church.

On December 31, 1919 he was united in marriage with Bessie Manes and to this union one daughter was born.

He was a proud and loving family man. Enjoyed farming, gardening, and creating a beautiful yard around the home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 25, 1987 with Rev. Ralph Rowe officiating. Burial was in the Campground Cemetery under direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Escorts were Lynn Anderson, Scott Sorenson, Steve Sorenson, Roy Joe Perkins, Eric Sinner, and Cliff Kivela.

Those surviving include his daughter, Kathleen Snead of Richland; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bessie, who passed away October 25, 1986, one sister, Lucy, and one brother, Thomas.

He will be missed by all who knew him.
