CROCKER- Funeral services for Colly Decker, 63, Crocker, who died at 11:30 p.m. Friday in Pulaski County Hospital, Waynesville, will be at 2 p.m., Monday in the First Baptist Church, Crocker, with the Rev. Calvin Parrish officiating. Burial, under direction of Moss-Williams, will be in Crocker Cemetery.

Mr. Decker is survived by his wife, Blanche; daughter, Mrs. Doris Coleen Fogal, Crocker; sister, Mrs. Nell Parkinson, Wichita Falls, Tex.; and two grandchildren.

Martha (Decker) Carmack d. June 15, 1904

Mrs. J.A. Carmack, an aged and highly respected lady, died at her home near Crocker Thursday morning of last week, and her remains were laid to rest in the Crocker cemetery the afternoon following. She leaves a husband and several grown children to mourn her loss.

Milford Francis “Mel” Egan, Jr. 1956-2011

Milford Francis “Mel” Egan, Jr., passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at his home in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of 55 years and 16 days.

One of three children born to the union of Melford Francis and Alberta Christine (Decker) Egan, Mel (as he was known to his family and friends) was born August 28, 1956 in Waynesville, Missouri. Mel grew up and attended school in Waynesville, and during his high school years, enjoyed his classes at the vocational school. He graduated from Waynesville High School with the class of 1974.

Mel was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with the family dog, a beagle named Trailer. Mel assisted with the family business at Bel-Air Mobile Home Park when he was young. During this time he learned many skills and became a Jack-of-all-trades. He used those skills to earn a living at different vocations throughout his life.

Mel spent many happy times with his brother and their friends, and countless stories could be told. To say that Mel was a free spirit would be an understatement. He certainly enjoyed living his life the way he wanted.

Mel will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his daughter: Luann Morris of Denver, Colorado; his mother: Alberta Egan of St. Robert and one brother: Charles Egan (Rose) all of St. Robert; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Mel was preceded in death by his father: Melford F. Egan, Sr. (2001); his sister: Kristi Dieckhoff (1980) and one nephew: Albert Joe “A.J.” Egan (2007).

A memorial gathering was held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Burial was held in Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mel Egan to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and may be left at the funeral home

Bonnie Clifie (Decker) Strom (1928-2012)

Bonnie Clifie (Decker) Strom was born December 18, 1928 in Pulaski County, Missouri.  She was one of two children born to the union of the late Cornelious and Rosa Belle (Myers) Decker.

Bonnie went home to be with her Lord on the morning of February 24, 2012, at the Richland Care Center, Richland, Missouri, at the age of 83 years. 

Bonnie professed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age in the old Baptist Church of Richland and was later baptized by Pastor J.O. Brown.  Bonnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richland,

Bonnie went to school in Richland graduating from high school there.  She worked outside her home for 13 years at the International Shoe Factory in Richland.

Bonnie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Mark Oliver Strom on June 6, 1964 in Swedeborg, Missouri.  Together they shared many wonderful years together until his death on November 3, 1996.

Bonnie enjoyed canning and working in her garden, especially growing tomatoes when her health permitted.  She found great joy and pride in taking care of her home.

Bonnie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her niece: Linda Wilson and her husband, Pete of Rolla, MO; a very special caregiver: Judy Murser of Richland, MO; several great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy and half sister. Pansy Calkin.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012 in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland with Rev. Christopher Hendrix, Sr. officiating.  Serving as pallbearers were Rick Wilson, Ray Knotts, Luke Knotts, Taylor Ashley, Bill Mercer and Gilbert Whitham.  Honorary pallbearers were Bob Shockley and Robert Fugitt.

Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.

Eska (Decker) Hancock 1919-2007

Eska Hancock, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born June 24, 1919, at Dixon, Mo., daughter of Fred Guy and Nellie Mae Conner Decker. She and Rhea A. Hancock were married March 10, 1943, in Hot Springs, Ark. He died Dec. 19, 1988.
Hancock attended Iberia Community College and the University of Missouri-Rolla. She was a cook 25 years with Lindbergh School District.
She moved to Cape Girardeau four years ago from Fenton, Mo., where she was a member of Southwest Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Paul Hancock of Jackson; two daughters, Charlotte Hill of Independence, Mo., Ruth Turner of Perryville, Mo.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a grandchild.
There is no visitation.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dixon City Cemetery in Dixon. The Rev. Wilbur Warman will officiate.
Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home of Jackson is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Decker 1827-1909

This entry is from the J.J. Watts collection. John J. Watts hailed from Warren, Maine and moved to the northern Ozarks of Missouri sometime after the Civil War. He was a circuit-riding Baptist Minister and his territory covered Phelps, Pulaski, and Texas Counties and parts of Maries and Dent Counties. He established a cemetery, Watt’s Lawn, which is located 1 mile West of J Highway, near the Pulaski County-Phelps County line. This collection covers 1878-1912.

Charles Decker did at Decker, in Pulaski Co., MO., Dec. 2d 1909 at 9-30 a.m., aged 83 ys., 6 ms., & 22 ds. Bro. Decker was born in Tompkins Co., N.Y., May the 10th 1826 and was of a family of 6 children, 3 surviving=Two sisters and one brother. Father of 5 children, 2 living. Mr. Charles R. Decker of Decker, MO, & Robert Earl Decker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a member of the Episcopal Ch. of Fairbo, Minnesota, and has lived at Cedar Rapids for the last 20 years. Was buried at the Dry Creek Cemetery, Dec. 3d 1909 at 3 p.m. Prayer at the house and sermon at the cemetery.
