Rebbeca "Miss Becky" Lea (Haley) Powers 1950-2017

Rebbeca Lea “Becky” Haley Powers was born in Taft, Texas on June 25, 1950 to Florence Nell Huber and Harlin Jack Haley I. She departed this life on December 24, 2017 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri after a short battle with bacterial infection and cancer.

Becky grew up in California as well as Texas and found her first love, music at a very early age. While in high school, she taught herself to play guitar and piano and frequently represented her school in performances. She also found a talent for writing, and had an amazing, soulful voice. As a young adult, she began recording her own songs in her home and learning to play any instrument she could get her hands on. After moving to Missouri, she began playing music professionally with local musicians and found her favorite instrument to play, the drums.

Becky inspired her children to love music, playing in bands with her daughter, Anda for many years, and being the biggest fan of her daughter, Haley on her successful solo and duo career. She passed down her artistic drawing skills to her son, Asa who like his mother is a beautiful vocalist. Everyone who met her was automatically drawn to her charisma and natural ability to own the room. She was an animated story teller and a born entertainer. She took the time to advise and support other musicians. Her honesty was always met with respect and appreciation. She always had the urge to learn and absorb anything she could out of life, often striking up conversations with complete strangers to hear their stories or brag on her children.

Becky is survived by and will be forever loved by her children: Anda Zeiger (Matt Van Kirk) of Rolla, Missouri, Haley Powers (Adam Fagerlin) of Lebanon, Missouri, and Asa Powers of Springfield, Missouri; her three grandchildren, Destiny Carroll of Richland, Missouri, Brett Zeiger of Rolla, Missouri, and Eva Powers of Lebanon, Missouri; great grandchildren Skyler and Ayedin Rogers; niece, Tricia Haley (Debbie Haley), and several other relatives, friends and the musician community. She will never be forgotten by the many musicians who had the honor of playing music with her or the pleasure of having her in the audience to enjoy their performances. She was ‘mom’ to many of her children’s friends as well who mourn her loss.

Becky is preceded in death by her parents, sister Faye Reich, brother Harlin Jack Haley, II, and grandson Jaz Sebastian Powers.

A celebration of life will be held at a date and location to be determined.

James Dorsey Haley 1900-1984

James Dorsey Haley was born in Bloodland, Missouri on November 23, 1900, the son of James and Elizabeth Miller Haley and passed away in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla on April 30, 1984. He had attained the age of 83 years.

He was united in marriage to Maude Kinnaird on February 20, 1924 and unto this union four daughters and two sons were born. She preceded him in death on December 27, 1978. He later married Amanda Blanton, who survives.

He was a member of the Carpenters local NO. 417 of St. Louis for over 30 years, retiring with the gold card of continuous service.

Funeral services were held in the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Dixon on Thursday morning, May 3, 1984 with Father Rissinger officiating. Burial was in the Palace Cemetery in Place, Missouri. Burial was in the Palace Cemetery in Palace, Missouri.

Serving as pallbearers were Jim amd Greg McGee, Ron Simpson, Jack Haley, Davis Nix and Robbie Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda of the home, two sons, Dorsey of St. Peters and Eugene of Overland, Missouri; four daughters, Thadene Knollmeyer Haley of St. Louis, Bernadine Egerer of St. Charles, Alatha Blankenship of Overland and Janette Conaway of Florissant, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Martha Alexander and Marie Roberson of Dixon; three brothers, Lloyd of House Springs, Lawrence of St. Ann, and Willard of Villa Ridge, Missouri; three sisters, Cora Pinager and Nora Elrod of Jefferson City and Ruth Haley of St. Louis; 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, with other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Don M. Anderson 1925-1982

Don M. Anderson was born in Dixon, Missouri on February 7, 1925 the son of Athol and Marjorie Haley Anderson and passed away in the Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri on Sunday morning, July 25, 1982. He had attained the age of 57 years.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, July 27, 1982 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Clarence Smith and Rev. Phillip Inman officiating, under direction of Long-Gilbert Chapel of Dixon.

He was united in marriage in 1948 to Mary Cochran and of this union 2 daughters and 1 son were born.

Don served in the Air Force during World War II. He graduated from SMS in Springfield in 1949. He then went to the State of Kansas to farm. He then was an employee in the Fort Wood personnel office. He was a charter member of the Dixon Optimist Club, active in the Khoury League and Dixon Youth Recreation Association. He served on the Dixon School Board and served for the last 25 years as Postmaster of the Dixon Post Office. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his Mother, Mrs. Marjorie Anderson of the Lebanon Care Center in Lebanon, Missouri, 2 daughters and son-in-laws, Becky and Stanley Martin of Dixon, and Penny and Mark Kirk of Fort Leonard Wood, 1 son and daughter-in-law, David and Julie Anderson of Dixon, 1 brother Bill Anderson of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, 5 grandchildren, Travis and Tera Martin, Eric and David Kirk, and Lucas Anderson, with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his Father Athol on January 2, 1974 and 1 infant sister. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
