Death Angel has again visited our midst and called our dear beloved sister, Mary Anderson, home, wife of John Anderson and daughter of Martha York. She leaves a husband, 11 children, a mother, 2 brothers, 1 sister and a host of friends to mourn their loss. She was 47 years old, was born in Pulaski county and lived there until she was married and some years since she moved to Arkansas. She had lived a consistent Christian life for twenty five years and was a member of the Freewill Baptist church. She suffered eleven weeks before God called her home. A Sister.

EULA, Texas- Services for Verla Mae Anderson, Eula, Texas, formerly of Richland, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Buckhorn Baptist Church with burial in Waynesville Memorial Cemetery under direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel, Richland.

Mrs. Anderson, a cook for a school district, died on Monday in Eula, Texas. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 pm Thursday in the funeral home.

LITTLE GIRL DROWNS IN POND

Opal, Daughter of Orville Anderson and Wife, Gone to Rest.

Opal, the four year-old daughter of Orville Anderson and wife of the Hawkins neighborhood, was drowned about 4 o'clock, Wednesday, March 28th.

Little Opal and her three brothers and sisters were out playing in the barnyard, and she had been running around the lot with a cow bell strapped about her neck, which she threw into a pond of water and had gone in to get it. Her eight year-old brother saw her and ran in and got her out, but she was dead when he reached her. The water was not more than a foot deep, but she probably mired down in the mud and fell.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, from the Fairview church, by James Nickels, and the remains tenderly laid to rest in the church cemetery. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones in this their time of great sorrow.

Waynesville Boy Dies in Gasconade

RICHLAND (Special) - A 9-year-old Waynesville boy drowned late yesterday while swimming in the Gasconade River near here.

Jackie Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson, was attending the Pulaski County Baptist Church camp here.

Funeral services for the youth will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the West Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Waynesville Memorial Cemetery under direction of Moss-Williams.

A spokesman said the youngsters were swimming about 5:30 p.m. and all were accounted for but that Jackie was discovered missing in another check a few minutes later. His body was recovered from the river a short time later.

In addition to the parents, he is survived by two brothers, Dennie Carl and David Morris, and one sister, Lisa Ann, all of the home; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mae Anderson, Springfield; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Delong, of Devils Elbow; a great-grandmother, Mrs. Carl Anderson, Waynesville; and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Watson.

Mrs. Ora Anderson died last Wednesday morning of consumption. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Nickels, an old resident of this county. She was buried from the Ideuma church and at that cemetery.

Cora Anderson Dead

The death angel again invades our little city and claims for the trophy this time one of its sweet little gems, Cora, the three-year old baby of Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Anderson who passed away Monday morning after a brief illness of only three days duration.

Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church Monday afternoon by Rev. Daugherty, after which the remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery.

Only those who have passed thru the same sad experience can sympathize with Mr. and Mrs. Anderson in the true sense of the word, but God in his goodness has plucked from earth this little bud bloom for him in paradise. 

Billy Lee Rowden 1932-2012

Billy Lee Rowden, the only child of Everett Glen and Gladys (Anderson) Rowden, was born March 8, 1932 in Big Piney, Missouri. Shortly after his birth, Billy’s mother passed away. He grew up in the Big Piney area and graduated from Waynesville High School in 1949.

As a young man, Billy made a very important decision in his life. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized. He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church for over 50 years. You could find him at church every time the doors were open as long as his health permitted.

Billy was united in marriage to Mary Ann Rodabaugh on January 21, 1955. They shared many wonderful years and memories together until she preceded him in death in 1988.

In his working years, Billy was a business man. He owned and operated a garage, was a used car dealer and later on became a cab driver. He enjoyed meeting and working with people and visiting. He could tell a lot of stories about the Waynesville area and the people in the community.

In his spare time, Billy enjoyed playing checkers, watching baseball and golf and was a pretty good pool player. He was a member of the Waynesville Masonic Lodge #375 AF & AM and also the Lions Club.

Billy will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. He passed away at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in the Harry S Truman Memorial Veteran’s Hospital, of Columbia, Missouri after a long fight with cancer. He had attained the age of 79 years, 10 months and 23 days.

Billy leaves to cherish his memory his 3 children: Margaret Ann Arrington (Danny) of St. Robert, MO, Melvin Lee Rowden (Sharon) of Waynesville, MO and George L. Ruckman (Patrice) of Crocker, MO; 4 grandchildren: Julie Peine, Rebecca Posten, Robin Lyn Rowden and Danny Arrington, Jr.; 7 great grandchildren: Garrett, Sawyer and Abigail Posten, Cecilia, Johnathan and Victoria Piene and Destinee Haggard; and a host of friends.

In addition to his mother and wife, Billy was preceded in death by his father, E.G. (Glen) Rowden (1980) and longtime friend, Jo Powell (2011).

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 in the First Christian Church of Waynesville with Gary Holt officiating. Becky Lercher sang “What A Friend We Have in Jesus”, “Amazing Grace” and “Come to Jesus”. Serving as escorts were Greg Posten, Garrett Posten, John Peine, Danny Arrington, Jr., Larry Childers and Pete Cruz. Serving as honorary escorts were Roy Nichols, Dave Teufel, Ed Price and Phil Hayes.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.

Bobby Lee Quesenberry 1932-2012

Bobby Lee Quesenberry, son of Snowden and Leta (Anderson) Quesenberry, was born November 12, 1932 in Bloodland, Missouri. As a young boy, Bobby attended school at Fairview and Cave Springs. He later attended North Bend, Oregon, and Richland High School until the 11th grade. He then graduated from Roosevelt High School.

As a teenager, Bobby made a profession of faith and became a member of Fairview Baptist Church in 1948. In later years, he became a member of Idumea Baptist Church and then began attending New Friendship Baptist Church. They were very faithful to attend as long as their health permitted.

In 1949, Bobby began working at Forest Hills Golf Course in St. Louis as a grounds maintenance man. He continued there until 1961 when he became a contract painter. After moving to the Fort Leonard Wood area, Bobby began in October 1965 as a ground maintenance man on Fort Leonard Wood. He continued his work there until 1985 when he had a stroke and retired due to medical reasons.

On October 26, 1986, Bobby was united in marriage to Donna Louise Carter in Richland, Missouri. They shared over 25 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories.

In his spare time, Bobby enjoyed being outdoors while hunting and fishing. He also had quite a collection of arrowheads and was always looking for more. Bobby was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Richland and also served as a board member of the Laquey School District and the Fairview Cemetery Board.

Bobby went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 26, 2012 in his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer having attained the age of 79 years, 5 months and 14 days. He will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Bobby leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Donna of the home; four children Linda Scott (Robert) of Waynesville Mo, Janice Adams (Brian) of Waynesville, Mo, Mark Quesenberry of Richland, Mo. and Kelly York (Joe) of Laquey, Mo; three step-children Rhonda Pool (Steven) of Laquey, Mo, Gayle Bivens (Earl) of Laquey, Mo, Dianne Guinn (David) Warsaw, Mo; two sisters Rosemary McKinstrey of Waynesville, Mo. and Ruth Close of Kansas City, Mo; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Snowden Quesenberry (1997), Mother Leta Hammock Quesenberry (2007); two infant twin sisters: Zora and Zella Quesenberry and one son: Snowden Brian Quesenberry (1957).

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2012 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Bro. Gary Humphrey officiating. Soloist, Becky Lercher sang "Unclouded Day", "To God Be The Glory" and "God Will Take Care of You". Serving as pallbearers were Joe York, Nicolas York, Eddie Wilson, Jediah York, Brian Adams and Steve Pool. Honorary escorts included Earl Bivens, Thomas Wilson, Mark Quesenberry, Bob Scott and David Guinn. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Laquey, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.

Violet Loraine (Anderson) Collins 1940-2011

Violet Loraine Collins, 70 of Springfield, passed away Saturday morning, July 30, 2011, at her home.

Daughter of the late Leslie and Ethel (Woods) Anderson, Violet was born October 9, 1940, in the community of Hanna, Missouri, in Pulaski County.

On February 6, 1960, Violet married Charles Leclair Collins, and they shared two children, Terry and Charlene.

Violet was employed with the Wal-Mart company for 24 years. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling in her R.V., and going to gospel music concerts. Violet had a deep, abiding faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ, and attended church in Falcon, Fairview, Laquey and Richland.

Mrs. Collins is survived by her husband: Charles; two children: Terry Collins (Carol) of Waynesville and Charlene "Shelly" Cherner (Gary), Atlanta, Georgia; six siblings: Lindell Anderson, Ft. Worth, Texas, William "Bill" Anderson, Ozark, Evelyn Crossland, Springfield, Vera Rinck, Doolittle, Marilyn Anderson of the state of Montana and Joyce Blankenship of Laquey; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, under direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory, Waynesville/St. Robert.

Violet Loraine (Anderson) Collins 1940-2011

Violet Loraine Collins, 70 of Springfield, passed away Saturday morning, July 30, 2011, at her home.

William Nelson Anderson 1923-2009

William Nelson Anderson, 86, of Lebanon, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, at his home in Lebanon.

He was born June 14, 1923, at Hanna, Mo. to Orville Preston Anderson and Lavada Frances Hammock, who preceded him in death.

He also was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Rev. David Biggs; three sisters, Leta Quesenberry, Mary Belton and Opal Anderson, also five brothers, Leslie, Roscoe, Kermit, Harry and Glen Anderson.

On March 22, 1946, he married Irene "Flo" Long.

He was a retired truck driver for Wilson Freight Lines and served in the United States Army for three years.

He was a faithful and active member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; two sons, Bill Anderson and his wife, Kathy, of Waynesville; Harry Anderson and his wife, Natalie, of St. Clair; three daughters, Sandy Biggs, of Metairie, La.; Shera Storie and her husband, Charlie, of Waynesville and Debbie Anderson, of Lebanon; a sister, Ruth Goodrich, of Waynesville; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services for William Nelson Anderson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Shadel's Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Paul Womack officiating.

Burial will be in Waynesville Memorial Park under the direction of Shadel's Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Weather permitting, he will be transported to Waynesville Memorial Park in his 1986 Dodge Pickup.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel.

A memorial has been established to St. John's Hospice in Lebanon.

Mary Celestial (Anderson) Belton 1918-2007

Mary Celestial Belton, one of twelve children born to the union of the late Orville and LaVada Anderson of Hanna, Missouri in Pulaski County.

Mary departed this life the evening of June 3, 2007 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 26 days.

Mary grew up in the Fairview/Hanna community and attended the Bloodland School.

On July 25, 1935, Mary was united in marriage with Clyde Monroe Belton, and to this union four children were born, Robert, Margaret, Barbara and Janet. Rev. Clyde Belton preceded Mary in death on January 31, 1987.

While living in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Mary worked at Ideal Manufacturing. She also worked in shoe and garment factories. When the family moved back to Missouri, she took a position at Stephens College in Columbia as a Seamstress and Assistant Costumer where she made costumes for productions in the Theater Department. While working there, she met George C. Scott, Betty White and Annie Potts who starred in plays at the Stephen's College. She retired from Stephens in 1974. The family moved to Crocker where she and her husband, Clyde, owned Belton's Furniture store. In 1984, they moved to Richland. She went to work at MOCCA where she served as a Librarian's Assistant in the Richland School System where she was fondly known as the "Library Lady". She retired from MOCCA at the age of 79.

Mary was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Buckhorn and for the past two years has become part of the Ft. Wood Church of God family with her son, Bob and daughter-in-law, Betty. Along with her sewing, she enjoyed growing flowers, reading and listening to Gospel music, especially the Gaither's. Mary's most important interest was her family.

Mary will be greatly missed by four children: Robert Belton and wife, Betty of St. Robert, MO, Margaret Malloy and husband, John of Hot Springs Village, AR, Barbara Burns and husband Don and Janet Charlton and husband Paul all of Las Vegas, NV; one brother: Nelson Anderson of Lebanon, MO; one sister: Ruth Goodrich of Waynesville, MO; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parent and her husband, Mary was also preceded in death by a grandson: David Burns, and seven siblings: two sisters, Leta Quesenberry and Opal Anderson; and five brothers, Leslie, Harry, Kermit, Glen, and Roscoe Anderson.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 7, 2007 in the Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert with Rev. William Kempen officiating. Mary's granddaughter, Wendy O'Brennan sang "My Life Is In Your Hands" and Mary's daughter, Barbara Burns sang a medley of songs that included "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" and "My Task". Grandson Doug Shipman read a beautiful letter from his sister, Jill to their grandmother. Serving as escorts were Steve Belton, Gerry O'Brennan, Richard Malloy, Bobby Belton, Tim Bohannon and Douglas Shipman.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary Belton to the American Diabetes Association or to the Ft. Wood Church of God and may be left at Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert.

Louise Jane (Helms) Anderson 1927-2002

Louise Jane Anderson was considered a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother by her family.

Mrs. Anderson of Columbia died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at her home. She was 74.

Mrs. Anderson was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Crocker, near Wheeler's Mill, to Clarence and Grace Helms. She had five children with her first husband, Lloyd Peterson. She later married Hugh Anderson.

Mrs. Anderson spent most of her life in the nursing field and founded Hillcrest Home for the Elderly in 1975. She was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by her mother, three daughters, two sons, three brothers, three sisters, nine grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Praise Assembly of God Church, 4300 Clark Lane. Services, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Stuart, will follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Antioch Cemetery near Crocker.

Her father, husbands, a brother, and a granddaughter died earlier.

LENA MARIE ANDERSON, 1926-1990

Funeral Services for Lena Marie Anderson, 64, of Waynesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church, Waynesville. Burial will be in the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson, a homemaker, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 1990, in the Phelps County Medical Center, Rolla, after a short illness.

Survivors include: three sons, Tom Anderson, Zeke Anderson and Buck Anderson, all of Waynesville; four daughters, Linda Stockdale and Mary Hendrix, both of Waynesville, Clova Falenzcykowski of Appleton WI, and Janet Tower of Strafford, NH; one sister, Sadie Henderson of Crocker; one brother, Leo Brown of Waynesville, and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral Rites Held For Crocker Woman

Janie A. Dodd, daughter of J.H. and Tennessee Turpin, was born in Pulaski County, Missouri, on the old Turpin farm April 2, 1878, and departed this life at her home in Crocker, MO, February 26, 1940, at the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 24 days.

She was married to W.H. Carmack in the year 1894 and to this union seven children were born: Clella Mce of Crocker, Zilpha Tully of St. Louis; Leo Carmack of Kansas City; and Mabel Hunt of Dallas, Texas; three children having died in infancy.

They lived on her father's farm, now known as the old Turpin farm, which they later purchased and resided there until about the year 1911 when they moved to Crocker where she has since resided.

She was married to Allen A. Dodd in the year of 1923, he having preceded her in death three years ago.

She united with the Christian Church at about the age of 16 years and has since directed her efforts fathful and earnest in the cause of Christ in whom she was endowed with unlimited faith and reverence to the end.

She was a devoted and industrious wife; a mother of devotion snd courage' spending every effort in the care and welfare of her children, and throughout her long period of illness it was evidenced she died confident that her efforts in her family duties and devotion to Him, who has seen fit to take her away, had not been spent in vain. She lived by the Golden Rule-when charity demanded, opened her home to the homeless and openly expressed herself as being ready to go when called.

She leaves to mourn her passing in addition to the children now living, two brothers and one sister: T.H. Turpin of Wichita; J.E. Turpin of Crocker' and Stella Burchard of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Clarence Mace of Dallas, Texas; Norman and Earl Mace of Los Angeles, California; Leo and Eugene Mace of Springfield, Missouri; Genevieve Wesahaun, Doris, James, and Bobby Tully of St. Louis; Leo Roy, Loyd and Benny Carmack of Kansas City.

James Thomas Stockdale 1981-2010

July 27th, 1981 - January 15th, 2010

James Thomas Stockdale, son of Gene Thomas Stockdale and Linda Faye (Anderson) Stockdale, was born July 27, 1981 in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life on Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 28 years, 5 months and 19 days.

James attended the Waynesville R-VI School District and was very athletic when he was younger. He earned several awards while attending school. He was also very involved in Tae Kwondo and earned his Blue Belt in a very short amount of time.

In his spare time, James enjoyed listening to music and surfing the Internet for new music. He also liked to cook and was always taking photographs especially of his kids. He was a very devoted father and loved his children very much.

James will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by three children: Damon Cusick of Phoenix, Arizona and Ethan and Isabella Stockdale, both of Dixon; his parents: Gene Stockdale of Dixon and Linda Stockdale of Devils Elbow; one brother: Steven Stockdale of Dixon; grandparents: Harold and Phyllis Jennings of Dixon; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather: Floyd Stockdale and maternal grandparents: Earl and Lena Anderson.

Visitation was held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.

Eva Sterling Sundquist 1888-1984

Eva Sterling Sundquist was born January 24, 1888 near Waynesville, Missouri and passed away August 30, 1984, in Grass Valley, California after a short illness. She was 96 years old.

She was the devoted daughter of Robert Sterling Anderson and Louis Adelaine Manes.

Eva was united in marriage to John P. Sundquist on October 7, 1910 in Swedeborg, Missouri. They spent 50 years in the farming industry in Dixon and Richland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, sisters: Ida, Madelaine, Mabel, and Bonnie.

Eva was a member of the Baptist Church for 74 years, moving her church letter from the First Baptist Church in Richland to California when she moved there in 1959.

Survivors include her sister Ann Anderson, Pacific Palisades, California; nieces Lily Anderson Larson, Richland and Virginia (Ginger) Sundquist Marquard, Nevada City, California and nephews Terry and Craig Marquard of Nevada City, California.

Private services were held September 4, 1984 under the direction of Hooper Weaver Mortuary with interment in the Sierra Lawn Cemetery, Nevada City, California. Pastor Andy Owens of the First Baptist Church, Grass Valley officiated.

Eddeth Frances (McClary) Nielsen 1907-1984

Services for Eddeth Nielsen were held at First Baptist Church 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Januray 26, 1984. Officiating at the services was Rev. Lawrence Clark. Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, Soloist, and Sharon Gunfram, Organist. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. Escorts were the Grandsons. Under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels of Richland, Missouri.

Eddeth Frances Nielsen was born at Hanna, Missouri January 29, 1907, the daughter of Charles and Martha Anderson McClary, and passed away January 23, 1984 in Godfrey, Illinois. At the time of her passing, she had attained the age of 76 years, 11 months and 25 days.

She accepted Christ as her personal saviour when she was a young girl at Fairview Baptist Church and was baptized in the Roubidoux Creek. At the time of her passing, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Richland where she was faithful to her church as long as her health permitted.

She was a member of Success Chapter #87, Order of the Esatern Star in Richland. She served as Worthy Matron of her Chapter in Chicago 6 times.

Eddeth was united in marriage to Ray Storie May 29, 1926 and to this union was born 3 children.

May 9, 1942, she was united in marriage to Paul Nielsen and they made their home in Chicago until Mr. Nielsen’s retirement when they moved to Missouri in 1970.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 3 sisters.

Those left to mourn her passing are her 3 children. 2 sons, Eugene Storie, Oak Forest, Illinois; Robert Storie Ellisville, Missouri; 1 daughter, Evelyn Hodgerson, Godfrey, Illinois; 3 brothers, Edgar McClary, Jerseyville, Illinois, Raymond McClary, Iberia, Missouri; George McClary, Pueblo, Colorado; 4 sisters, Mary Wilson, Buckhorn, Missouri; Ollie Clay, Durango, Colorado; Fern Quesenberry, Grandview, Missouri; Ida Ellis, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Carl Oscar Anderson 1891-1960

Former Mayor Succumbs In Springfield Baptist Hospital Wed. Morning

Carl O. Anderson, 66, retired mail carrier and a former mayor of Waynesville, passed away at 6:00 a.m. yesterday (Wednesday) morning at the Springfield Baptist hospital, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.

Mr. Anderson had been in poor health for the past two years and underwent an operation in the hospital in Springfield on ___ last week. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, awaiting word from a son in California.

Mr. Anderson, or “Carl” as he was known by hundreds of friends, was not only active in civic affairs, before health kept him from doing too much, he was also very active in the First Baptist Church in Waynesville. His death will be greatly felt by all who knew him and we join his hundreds of friends in extending our sympathy to his family.

Beside his wife, he is survived by four daughters and a son, and s number of grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. The daughters are Mrs. Victoria Brown, Mrs. Sophia Bartlett, Mrs. Esther Tinsley, all of Waynesville and Mrs. Irene Blix of Kansas City, and the son is Melvin Anderson of Buena Park, California.

Carl Oscar Anderson

Carl Oscar Anderson was born in Springfield, Missouri, October 7, 1891 and departed this life August 24, 1960 at the Burge Hospital in Springfield after a lingering illness at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 19 days.

Surviving are his wife, Lucy, one son, Melvin of Buena Park, California, four daughters, Mrs. Victoria Brown, Mrs. Esther Tinsley, and Mrs. Sophia Bartlett, all of Waynesville, and Mrs. Irene Bix of Conway. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a brother, William A. Anderson, of Kansas City. A lengthy obituary is not necessary of this departed neighbor, as all who knew him, loved and respected him very much.

On March 2, 1911 he was married to Lucy Manes, and they soon were to have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Carl was active in helping his fellow man, in church services, and in a personal way.

He became a deacon of the First Baptist Church August 28, 1924 and remained as deacon until his death, thus giving 35 years of his life in a special way to the Lord, whom he loved and trusted to lead him in paths of righteousness.

He was mayor of the City of Waynesville from August 28, 1947 until August 1954. The last few years of his life was spent in carrying the mail and carpentry. Always busy, always cheerful, always willing to help, even until the end of life. This passage of scripture which says “Blessed are the dead in Christ, for their works do “live” after them” has been verified.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 27 at 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Sanders officiating by Rev. C.R. Horne and Rev. E.E. Cox. Burial was in Waynesville Memorial cemetery under direction of Hedges.

Pallbearers were Roy Adkison, Charley Willett, Warford Gladden, Virgil Long, Norman Humphrey, and Wayne Keeth.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Clyde Miller, Ralph Land, Ora Anderson, Ewell Woods, V.V. Long, Jim Rollins, and John Threlkeld.

The pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were deacons of the First Baptist and the West Mission Baptist churches of Waynesville.

Don M. Anderson 1925-1982

Don M. Anderson was born in Dixon, Missouri on February 7, 1925 the son of Athol and Marjorie Haley Anderson and passed away in the Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri on Sunday morning, July 25, 1982. He had attained the age of 57 years.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, July 27, 1982 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Clarence Smith and Rev. Phillip Inman officiating, under direction of Long-Gilbert Chapel of Dixon.

He was united in marriage in 1948 to Mary Cochran and of this union 2 daughters and 1 son were born.

Don served in the Air Force during World War II. He graduated from SMS in Springfield in 1949. He then went to the State of Kansas to farm. He then was an employee in the Fort Wood personnel office. He was a charter member of the Dixon Optimist Club, active in the Khoury League and Dixon Youth Recreation Association. He served on the Dixon School Board and served for the last 25 years as Postmaster of the Dixon Post Office. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his Mother, Mrs. Marjorie Anderson of the Lebanon Care Center in Lebanon, Missouri, 2 daughters and son-in-laws, Becky and Stanley Martin of Dixon, and Penny and Mark Kirk of Fort Leonard Wood, 1 son and daughter-in-law, David and Julie Anderson of Dixon, 1 brother Bill Anderson of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, 5 grandchildren, Travis and Tera Martin, Eric and David Kirk, and Lucas Anderson, with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his Father Athol on January 2, 1974 and 1 infant sister. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
