Everall McDowell 1922-1986

Everall McDowell was born on February 7, 1922 and passed away in Kansas City on March 30, 1986.  He had attained the age of 64 years.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Chapel in Crocker on Wednesday, April 2, 1986 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Campbell officiating.

Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery.  Organist was Gladys Schneider and serving as his pallbearers were Jim Semmons, Ray and John Becker, Ewell and Don Penland, and Walter Alexander.

He is survived by 1 sister and her husband, Jim and Joann Semmons of Metlacha, Florida, 1 niece, Stacy Semmons of Long Wood, Florida, 1 aunt and her husband, Blanche and LaNell Routon of Garden City, Missouri and 1 uncle Nim Martin and his wife Katheryn of Garden City, Missouri with other relatives and friends.

E. Clark Slawson 1934-2012

E. Clark Slawson was born September 7, 1934, near Iberia, Missouri the son of Everett A. and Clara (McDowell) Slawson and passed away April 25, 2012 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri.

Clark and his wife Linda were married on February 2, 1957 and enjoyed 55 years together. They were blessed with three children, Ronald W. (Dawn) of Leesville, Louisiana; Gary C. (BJ) and Kimberly J. (Jim) Orebaugh of the Waynesville area.

Clark accepted Jesus as his savior and was baptized at the Crocker Christian Church on September 22, 2008.

Clark enjoyed a long and colorful life and before his retirement had been a diesel mechanic for 40 plus years. He loved to fly his own plane and go hunting, but most of all he loved taking his grandson, Jeremy, fishing.

Clark is survived by his wife Linda of the home, his two sons, Ron and Gary and his daughter, Kimberly; two grandsons, Shaun and Jeremy and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Rowan and Jacob Slawson; his brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Glenda (Rosebud) Slawson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were conducted for Clark at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker with Bro. Larry Richardson, Crocker Christian Church, officiating.

Interment with military honors was in the Hawkeye Cemetery, near Crocker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Clark were Shaun Slawson, Jeremy Slawson, John David Boren, Rowland Wall, Chris Adamson and Johnny Adamson. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Burgess and Harold Woody.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Crocker Christian Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Zylpha (Shelton) Henson 1893-1984

Zylpha Shelton Henson was born August 4, 1893 in Miller County to Johnny and Mary Jane McDowell Shelton and passed away Monday, June 18, 1984, at Lebanon Care Center. She had attained the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 14 days at the time of her passing.

On February 20, 1913, she was united in marriage to Dell Henson, and to this union five children were born: Lloyd and Fern passed away at an early age. Ruth Scott, Floyd Henson and Warren Henson survive. Her husband, Dell, passed away March 7, 1974.

In addition to her husband and two children, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers, and two sisters.

In addition to her two sons and one daughter, she is survived by one sister, Bertha Haywood, and one brother, Alford Shelton, both of Kellyville, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of wonderful friends.

Aunt Zylpha, as she was called by many, was a good Christian lady and loved by all who met her. She was a long time member of Beulah Baptist Church. Her passing is Heaven’s gain.

Services were held Wednesday, June 29, 1984, 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dale Hufft officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist and DeLores Shadel, organist.

Escorts were grandsons.

Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland, Missouri.

Curtis McDowell 1907-1965

The body of 50-year-old Curtis McDowell, who lived in Camden County, near the Pulaski County line, was found Sunday night after he apparently shot himself the state patrol reported.

Ernest Harrison, a neighbor discovered McDowell's body at the victim's home about 7:45 p.m . Officers said McDowell, who had been shot in the forehead, apparently had been dead about four hours.

A .22 caliber rifle was found near the body, which was taken to the Moss-Williams Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Curtis McDowell, 58, a Route 3, Crocker farmer, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hawkeye Baptist Church, near Crocker. Farris Wall will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Moss-Williams. Mr. McDowell was found dead about 7:45p.m. Sunday by a neighbor.
