Eliza J. (Shelton) Allen 1826-1902

Mrs. Eliza J. Allen

Mrs. Eliza J. Allen was born in Cumberland county, Tenn., May 13th, 1826; died at her home in Springfield, Mo.; Oct. 24th, 1902. Mrs. Allen, who was Eliza Shelton of Miller county before she married E.M. Allen of the same county in June, 54 years ago, was well known in Miller and Pulaski counties. She was a most deserving woman, being the mother of ten children reared to man and woman-hood she was necessarily a home body, but a more faithful wife and mother never lied. Her life was one of hardships as most all pioneer settlers were, but she cheerfully went about her duties in a hopeful and patient way.

She was a member of the Christian church from girlhood and often said during her year and one half at confinement that she was perfectly willing and just waiting for the Lord to call her.

Rev. Harlow of the Washington Ave. Christian church of Springfield, held funeral services and the remains were brought to Crocker and laid beside a son.

Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Allen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Crocker, and one sister and eight children were present. She leaves  a companion, two sisters, one brother and nine children- four girls and five boys- to mourn her loss, a loss that can never be replaced, for there is no love like a mothers and this mother was one in the true sense of the word. We rejoice to know that this is not a final separation if we live under God's counsels.

Ralph Mert Shelton 1918-1986

Ralph Mert Shelton, 68 of rural Waynesville passed away early Sunday morning.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening December 2, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3 at 10:30 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jess Norris officiating.

Burial will be in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery, Crocker, Missouri.

Survivors include Ralph Sheltons’s mother, Amy Shelton of Sunset Village; one sister, Bernadine Duddridge and brother-in-law Kenneth of Waynesville; 2 uncles Walter Bartlett, Jr. of Waynesville and Dempse Shelton of the State of Texas.

Berchie Mae (Shelton) Rowland 1912-1985

Berchie Mae Rowland was born in Crocker, Missouri on December 9, 1912, the daughter of Thomas and Arlena Thornsberry Shelton and passed away in the Lebanon Hospital on October 11, 1985.  She had attained the age of 72.

She was united in marriage to Claude Rowland on August 29, 1961.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age and was a faithful member of the Concord Christian Church.  She loved flowers and gardening and was a loving mother and grandmother.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held in the Concord Christian Church on Monday, October 14, 1985 at 2:00 pm.m with the Reverend Lee Todd officiating.

Burial was in the Concord Cemetery under the direction of the Long Moss Williams Chapel of Crocker.

Serving as her pallbearers were Lyle Studer, John Stafford, Dave and Dewey Luttrell and Ralph and Clay Duncan.

She is survived by her husband, Claude of the home, two daughters, and son-in-laws, Virginia and Richard Tingle of Crocker and Chariet and Ray York of Waynesville, two grandsons, Charlie Tingle of Crocker and Kenny York of Waynesville, one great grandson, Craig, one brother, Carl Shelton of Iberia, and one sister, Irene Wall of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by one son, Carl, one brother, Orville, and her husband, Charlie Whittle.

James Monroe Shelton 1917-1986

James Monroe Shelton was born in Maries County, Missouri on November 11, 1917 the son of James Franklin and Alma Bailey Shelton and passed away on May 12, 1986.  He had attained the age of 68 years.

He is survived by his mother, Alma Shelton of Dixon, 3 sisters, Lorene Gaylord of St. Peters, Caroline Alexander of Dixon and Yvonne Sloan of Shell Knob, Missouri, 1 brother Tom Shelton of Dixon with numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his Father, James Franklin Shelton.

James served his country in the Navy, Army, and Air Force with several years of foreign duty.  He was a loving and devoted son to his Mother and Father.  He has been very helpful and supportive in the care of his Mother who is in the Heritage Park Nursing Home in Rolla.  He graduated with a B.S. degree from the Wichita University and for the last 15 years was the Finance Manager at the Diehl Montgomery Car Agency in Rolla.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Home in Dixon on Wednesday, May 14, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Charles Pitts and Brother Earl Jones officiating.

Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Jim Sloan, Buel Alexander, Justin Shelton, Bill and Harold Switzer and Jack Alexander.  Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Potter, Steve and Vernon Shelton, Ronnie Sloan and Hurschall Alexander. 

Allie Mae (Shelton) Barlow 1887-1981

Allie M. Barlow, 93, of 330 S. Wood, died at 6:20 p.m., Sunday at a Neosho nursing home after a long illness.

Mrs. Barlow was born July 12, 1887 in Miller County.  She moved to Neosho in August 1969, from Richland.  She married Herbert L. Barlow, who died October 18, 1955.  She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Rollins Cemetery east of Lebanon with the Rev. Ralph Zumwalt officiating and burial under direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, Missouri.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse, Neosho, and Walter, Great Falls, Montana; one daughter, Mrs. Earl Roberts, Escondido, California; four grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

12 July, 1887 - 25 January, 1981

Luther Eaken 1912-1984

Luther Eaken was born in Camden County, Missouri, on August 26, 1912, the son of Willis N. and Mary E. Shelton Eaken, and passed away February 15, 1984, following a short illness.

On September 4, 1937, he was united in marriage to Nora L. Pruitt, and to this union were born three children. Luther and Nora lived in and around Richland all their lives.

At an early age, Luther accepted Christ as his personal saviour at Dublin Baptist Church, later moving to his membership to Independence Baptist. He has been a member of Grace Baptist for the last three years. 36 years ago, he was a deacon at Elm Grove Baptist. He was faithful to his church as long as his health permitted.

He was retired from the gas company where he was employed for about 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leonard, and one daughter, Wilda Sue, who died in infancy.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Nora of the home; two sons: Dorel Eaken of Richland, Missouri and Wayne Eaken of Palmer, Alaska; daughter-in-laws: Pam and Judy Eaken; two sisters: Edith Holder of Lebanon, Missouri and Beulah Barnes of Lake Ozark, Missouri; three granddaughters and one grandson; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 18, 1984, 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Freddy Blevins and Rev. Gary Hutsell officiating.

Music was provided by Larry Atkins.

Escorts were: Eddie Holder, David Phelps, Jess Elam, Ed Graves, Lloyd Williams, and Billy Hamilton.

Honorary escorts were: Mayfield Wilson, Ed Southard, Ralph Posten, and Dick Johnson.

Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel.

Zylpha (Shelton) Henson 1893-1984

Zylpha Shelton Henson was born August 4, 1893 in Miller County to Johnny and Mary Jane McDowell Shelton and passed away Monday, June 18, 1984, at Lebanon Care Center. She had attained the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 14 days at the time of her passing.

On February 20, 1913, she was united in marriage to Dell Henson, and to this union five children were born: Lloyd and Fern passed away at an early age. Ruth Scott, Floyd Henson and Warren Henson survive. Her husband, Dell, passed away March 7, 1974.

In addition to her husband and two children, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers, and two sisters.

In addition to her two sons and one daughter, she is survived by one sister, Bertha Haywood, and one brother, Alford Shelton, both of Kellyville, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of wonderful friends.

Aunt Zylpha, as she was called by many, was a good Christian lady and loved by all who met her. She was a long time member of Beulah Baptist Church. Her passing is Heaven’s gain.

Services were held Wednesday, June 29, 1984, 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dale Hufft officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist and DeLores Shadel, organist.

Escorts were grandsons.

Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland, Missouri.

Grace Marie (Witt) York 1935-2009

Grace Marie York, of Crocker, was born on September 23, 1935, at Brumley, a daughter of Everett and Tilda (Shelton) Witt and departed this life at 8:48 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2009, in the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach. Mrs. York had attained the age of 73 years, 11 months and 21 days.

Mrs. York was united in marriage on May 19, 1956, at Swedeborg, to Claude Wesley York and to this union three children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; three sisters, Alice Plemmons, Irene McDowell and an infant.

Mrs. York had been a member of the Concord Christian Church for 41 years. She loved gardening, flowers and being with her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker, always diligent in providing for the needs of her dear family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. York include: her husband, Claude York, Crocker; one son and daughter-in-law, Trent and Helen York, Crocker; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tricia and Melvin Shrauger, Linn Creek; Susie and Dana Hill, Eldon; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Doral and Shirley Witt, Eldon; Iven and Joyce Witt, and Jim and Joyce Witt, all of Brumley; Jerry and Geneva Witt and Allen and Barbara Witt, all of Iberia; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ruth and Eddie Rodden, and Nora Rodden, all of Brumley; Lois and Raymond Comer, Barnett and Brenda and Jerry Strickland, Dixon; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Shrauger, Justin Shrauger, Nathan Hill, Jacob Hill, Dalton York, Tyler Barnes and Travis Barnes; three great-grandchildren, Cole Finley, Caitlyn Finley and Ryder Barnes; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. York at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009, in the Concord Christian Church, Crocker with Bro. Billy Claiborn, Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker, officiating. “Farther Along” and “In The Sweet Bye and Bye” were played for the funeral service.

Interment was in the Concord Cemetery, Crocker under the direction of the Long Funeral Home, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mrs. York were Justin Shrauger, Nathan Hill, Jacob Hill, Dalton York, Chris Finley and Travis Barnes. Honorary pallbearer was Tyler Barnes

Greenberry Shelton (1912-1984)

Greensberry Shelton

Greenberry Shelton, age 71 of Crocker, died at Marshall, Missouri on Thursday, February 9. He was born July 17, 1912 in Pulaski County. He was the son of John R. and Mary Long Shelton.

Shelton was a member of the Concord Christian Church of Crocker.

Survivors included five brothers- Louie and Kenneth Shelton, both of LaPorte City, Iowa, Wilbert of Iberia, Dave of Crocker, and Lester of Richland. Four sisters: Mrs. Pearl Riggen of LaPorte City, Iowa, Mrs. Jewell Hannah of Dixon, Mrs. Veta Wrinkle of Richland and Mrs. Lois Dickey of LaMar, Missouri.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 11 at the Stevenson-Mossman Funeral Home of Iberia. Brother Floyd Barlow officiated the services. Burial was in the Pleasant Hills Cemetery near Iberia.

Louis Colvin 1929-1999

Louis Colvin, 69, Iberia, died June 10, 1999, at his home. He was born
Aug. 17, 1929, in Miller County, a son of Lonnie and Sarah Shelton
Colvin. He was married Sept. 25, 1951, in Tuscumbia, to Billie Ann
Moffitt, who survives at the home.

He was a member of Pleasant Christian Church, Iberia. He was a veteran
of the Korean War. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 6167, Iberia;
and Harry Herron Disabled American Veteran Post, Waynesville. He had
been employed in Civil Service at Fort Leonard Wood as a heavy equipment
operator. He retired in 1979.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Peggy Layman, Crocker, and
Kathy Duncan, Iberia; two brothers, Dalla Colvin, Iberia, and Dennis
Colvin, Crocker; one sister, Delores Colvin, Macks Creek; five
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Crocker Christian Church. Bro.
Rick Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday at Crocker Christian Church.
Memorials are suggested to Lake Ozark Hospice, Crocker.
